My coin purse had lost its heft and jingle. I'd been living the good life in the city of Stormreach. Feasting on rich food and even richer beer.
I'd been lving of the proceeds of my last adventure in the Waterworks, having found the trail of the 'Arlos' was now a dead end.

As my funds were low I was more clear headed than I'd been in a few weeks. I took a hard look at myself and realized that that I'd sunk as low as a dwarf could go. My armour was rust stained and quite smelly. My Axe stained and notched.

I walked a little unsteadily to the marketplace bazaar and began haggling with several merchants. Selling off some accumulated fippary and nosense, I managed to repair my gear.

I returned to the Rusty nail and began to try and find some work. A small table in the corner held a human cleric and ranger, a strudy looking Warforged pallidin, and a hafling in sorcerer's robes. I approached the table and declined the offer of beer and listened to their offer.

It seems that the cleric one Dibold and his ranger freind Skelos had contracted to clear a basment of some sort of mutant spider that had gotten away from his keeper. The sorcerer Nigleche had signed on for a share of loot. I was given the samer offer and told that a nimle fingered trapsmith and lock pick by the name of Miranda would join us at the entrance.

We made our way through the town to the house in question. I was introduced to our rogue Miranda, a tallish dark haired elf, who instead of the normal elfish slenederness and height, was well rounded and of average or less tallness. This caught my attention becuase ususally I look these bedammed tree huggers in the eye only after having cut their knees off, but her i could see with a mere tilt of my head.

We bagan our mission by entering the basement area. Our rogue quickly found the hidden latch that opened a door into a shaft that led downwards. the shaft brought a fetid breeze carrying the stink of spider spawn.

We procedded downwards using a series of platforms and ladders to descend into the stygian darkness below. This is where my trouble began.

As the one having the best vision in the darkness I of course wanted to lead the way, however the elf insisted on going first to looks for traps and other hidden marvels. It seemed to me that no matter how we procedded I was constantly in a position to view her "charms" whether looking down the ladders and seeing how much or how little her tight fitting leather vest covered, or following her through tight fitting spaces that forced her to walk bent over as I followed behind.

It was becoming obvious that I had spent too much time away from my bearded brethern in the mines, I was finding one the "Fair folk" not just tolerable but rather interesting. Miranda didn't make it much easier for me to ignore as she seemed to be more open minded than other Elves I had encountered. She a had a quick smile showing very pearly teeth and seemed to find too many oppritunites to bump against me, or place here hand back to caution me, and her fingers seemed to always glide through the edges of my beard.

I don't remember much more of the specifics of the adventure, although we did in fact find a slay the mutant spider and its off spring. We had managed to find some treasure along the way, and the man who had originaly contracted with us was so pleased that he forked over a considerable bonus when we reported to him the deed was done.

As for Miranda, she had mentioned to me that there was a small village called
"three barrel cove" where the was more adventure waiting and hinted that the folks there were a bit more open minded and there was a bit more privacy to be had, if some folks wanted to "let their hair down". I don't know what that means exactly, but I mean to find out soon.
