Ok, I will say that this is not my best work, nor is it finished. But I hope you enjoy as I work on it. Errors aside, I will add to it if there is an interest.
Bladescream
I stand at the entrance of the rumored lair of a pair of vicious kobold brothers. The human Durk may have been what other humans call, “The Village Idiot” but his tip seems to have some merit. I scan my surroundings for signs of life. There doesn’t seem to be any in the immediate area so I begin to check my gear.
I am Bladescream. I am a fighter who has become a ranger in order to better serve my home of Stormreach. I am also a warforged. What humans sometimes refer to as machines. It is not entirely an accurate description. I have feelings. I have awareness. My body was forged from adamantium and wood and brought to life by powerful magics. I wear a form of armor called a docent that can be interchanged much like the armor that the other races in Stormreach wear. My name was given to me by my creator who gifted me with exceptional skill with bladed weapons. I currently wield two scimitars. One will cripple an enemy and slow him to a crawl and the other can unleash a sonic blast that will cause extra damage when I hit them in a vital spot. I carry other weapons as well and favor the small 5 point stars known as shuriken. There is little that I fear. I am a warrior and I will clean out evil wherever I find it.
I have a particular dislike of the undead. My creator lost family to foul ghasts and armored skeletal warriors during quest to clear out the catacombs that are near the marketplace. I hope there are some undead down here. It gives me great pleasure in destroying them. As I stalk forward I find that the air is thick with the smells of death and rot. Something evil has made its home here and I must expunge it.
The tunnels here are green with algae and slime and every step makes echoing sounds as it travels up and down the wide tunnels. I step away from my rope and don’t look back. Instead I move forward. To my left and right are barred alcoves with boxes and barrels in them. I hold off on checking them. I see the valves nearby that will raise the bars but I know that there is a good chance that something will be attracted by the noise.
My blades are sharp and held at the ready each gripped tightly in my large fists. The dull grey of my current docent a contrast to the deep blue and black of my forearms.
I move cautiously forward and I see that to my left is a small offshoot that bends around back in the direction I came. I decide to check it instead of leaving a potential enemy at my back. If I am a machine then I am a war machine and I will not relent. I hear him before I see him. I peer around the bend and I see a small lizard like creature that looks crossed with a dog in some respects. It is wearing skulls and carrying a small staff with a green gemstone set at the head. It’s a kobold and a shaman by the look of it. He notices me and raises his arms. I feel a strange wave of fear try to overpower me but it doesn’t last and with a roar of anger I charge him. Two slices from my blades and his lifeless form crumples to the ground. I kick the corpse into a fetid pool of sewage that marks the end of the small tunnel. I look around and I see a chest nearby.
I open it and pull out a few gems and a couple of scrolls as well as a small handful of gold. Nothing overly useful though the gems and the gold will help keep me supplied in my quests to purge the evil from my homeland. I stow the small amount of loot and I make my way back and after checking for more enemies I open the valves and break the boxes and barrels. Sometimes one can find useful potions or ammunition in them left behind by the Gods only know who. Finding none, I grimly proceed down the main corridor.
