LATEST: Unfortunately an issue came up during our build process overnight that prevents us from being able to consider a deployment today. We're working on a small patch to fix a couple of issues, and we'll have more about timing as soon as we can. This game update will correct this issue with the 32 bit game client in addition to a chest issue in the new Legendary Droaam quests.
We are currently working to resolve an issue that is impacting the ability to launch the game with the 32 bit client. We are working on a hotfix to address this issue, and we will have more information about downtime and anything else in the game update perhaps as soon as tomorrow.

Please also include a fix for the loot drops issue.
EDIT: We've now identified an issue affecting named drops in this pack, and are working on a fix for distribution as soon as possible. Thank you!

The 64 bit version of the client doesn't load on Windows 11 when the display driver is set to Automatic, I had to set it to to my the display driver of my video card to get the client to run.

Same here but on WIN 10, selected driver and it loaded.

The 64-bit client is consistently crashing everytime I have to go through any loading screen (even teleporting inside a dungeon.)

Selecting the display driver doesn't work for me. The 64-bit game still crashes when zoning. Like it has for the past 6 months.

If this has been going on for 6 months, have you consiudered its not a game issue? I dont remember the last time my 64bit client crashed. just like most folks.

I get the same thing. Just because it doesn't happen to you, doesn't mean it's not a client problem with specific settings and/or hardware combinations. I'll bet a lot of players never bothered selecting the 64-bit client before today (it seemed to be on 32-bit by default), I'm sure most people who had problems just went back to 32-bit and never said a word. So you really can't speculate that its fine for "most folks."
I did a full repair, and it didn't help. 32-bit client never crashes for me ever, but obviously right now we have no choice.

I posted this question a little bit ago, and have now found the answer, so sharing in case helpful to anyone else!
On the launcher window, click on the little down arrow key at the top, and it will give options of various settings. Under the general tab, one option is 32 or 64 bit.

Both 32 and 64 bit versions don't work, it's been a whole day and i still can't play and the vip is paid... will there be any compensation for the days when can't log in through no fault of my own?
p.s. sorry for my english...

I can't switch, because when I chose "Settings" my launcher crash.

The 64-bit client worked for me before that. The only real change is, immediately after one game update, 64-bit client consistently crashed when zoning. Sounds like a game issue to me.
Just because "it works for most folks" doesn't necessarily mean it isn't a game issue. Like the posters that have tried all the "this fixes 64-bit problems" and still can't get into the game.

I switched to the 64 bit client and now I'm getting frequent in-game load screen crashes. Running Windows 10 64 bit operating system.
Update: Game also crashes when I switch characters.

0929 my time. After 21.5 hours of the problem persisting something to consider doing is undoing all the changes with which the crashing launcher came. Roll it back. I've read several responses here identifying this exact occurrence on the test server. If the trouble was not discovered then with the knowledge that the problem existed what may be expected now is the problem will not be discovered in a timely manner. I'm not vip, this account is merely premium. However I do occasionally purchase points and the vips locked out surely are not looking forward to paying for no service for another day or longer. Time is money. The company is still getting the money. Clients need the time they've purchased. I really don't care for myself; I have other games I enjoy just as much. With no further postings here in nearly 24 hour's time about how close a fix is people will assume repair crews have no clue of even what methods are redirecting, blocking or not even reading information. Angry mobs that do not go somewhere else (like my favorite City of Heroes or Ultima Online.. can ya believe they still release new content for that one?) will be rising. I hear the pitchforks being sharpened :)
To the angry mobs that may be: ya know these poor guys did not do this intentionally. Neglectfully, perhaps, for the exact problem already being reported on the test server, but not intentionally. You know they want the rent money. They know they won't continue to get paid without providing service. They need more time. How much we don't know. They don't know. We will know when they know. Maybe a few hours after they know. Cordovan and his team also have to read and post for LotRO as well. He may very well be one of the busiest people in our society. I do wonder sometimes if he still has hair.
In the mean time Yin is the weekly task force in City of Heroes and I have a slew of level 50s to run through it! Apparently I'll have at least another day to collect more rewards there. City of Heroes Homecoming; totally free game. Check it out. I'm on the Excelsior server. Come play! Look for global name OmegaWolfe or Electrafry. I'll help ya out learning the game. The costume (cosmetics) interface is AWESOME! You'll spend hours just making the coolest, prettiest and sharpest looking characters. I've been playing that game since before 2006 and I STILL spend much time making the costumes for new characters. Oh.. and we all get a thousand character slots. A freaking thousand! If you do come to play look for something Called Mids Reborn too. It's a really good City of Heroes character planner.

Kalaxia has not speculated anything. There IS a problem. It.. the game being "it".. is NOT ok. There is no speculation. The problem actually exists. What is awesome logic?

This shouldn't even be an issue... this update should have been tested on 32bit, before it was implemented. Upon implementation, you now have more than half of customers shut out of the game because you f'd up... 24hrs later you still have more than half of your customers shut out of the game... THIS UPDATE SHOULD BE REVERTED AND TAKEN BACK TO TESTING. To appease the majority of your customers. The longer you keep them out of the game, the more apt they are to go find something else to play and spend money on

More than half of their customers? You have seen these counts? You know that many are shut out? Cite the references of how you came to those numbers. Look.. Cordovan updated us here a little earlier. While they were working on the problem last night they discovered another problem. That's great! Not that there is an additional problem but that they discovered it during the process of examining the launcher crash trouble. Majority of customers? Over Half? Methinks you are speaking numbers you have not researched.

Occasionally I've been checking the thread for this sort of information update. While around I read through a few other threads. I see with the update there are new trap/door detection icons that appear over heads of the spotters. I have read there are also sounds accompanying these icons. Annoying sounds most of the posts have been saying. I can imagine that annoying; icons and sounds triggering multitudes of times in areas of many mines or bear traps. I play myself by sound as much as by sight. A footstep, a growl, a breaking barrel.. I don't want to miss those sounds for having them drowned out by another output that may be constant and multiple (multiple from many traps and/or several spotters on a team). While taking more time to set right the game client and a chest issue would it be any trouble to add method allowing the new trap/door detection audio/video alerts to be turned off? Would removing the addition totally cause clients to leave the game or new clients to not join? If not might removing the addition all together be considered? I have a feeling.. well.. scrap that.. I know I won't like the audio portion at least. I really do use sound as much as sight to play. Responses related to the new alert make me think the method will be obtrusive to hearing other sounds.

Of course the numbers don't much matter.. except for counting money and time. Of course what does matter is some of the player base is unable to play. I'm one of the "unables". What I meant was not what matters more or less than something else but when speaking numbers know the numbers. Cite the references that leads to the conclusion of figures or estimates of figures. Never did like listening to speech about this, that or something else concluded with "look it up" or nothing at all cited. I wonder every time if that's what people tell their college professors when asked for credible reference. "Hey, professor, look it up".

I think the fair thing to do would be to calculate the fair daily cash value, and refund people's money based on a daily rate. Stop giving us bogus stuff. Just refund our daily rate!

"In the meantime, players can access the game using the 64 bit client" is not true for numerous players. Neither the 32-bit nor the 64-bit client function correctly. It may well be possible that more players are able to utilize the 64-bit, but this isn't a justification to delay on the fix of the 32-bit client.

There is no delay, it is being worked on and deployed as soon as is possible.

Is there any useful data on the differences between the cases of broken and working 64-bit clients?
I have one of each here, the Steam version is working but the directly installed one isn't. It's pretty much known that Steam does something with library calls and graphics... more so if you have the overlay turned on.
(Then again, I'm on Linux and with a bit of a bothersome GPU model too.)

I'm using the regular install (non-steam), if that helps the devs out.
My problem is what a bunch of people are getting: randomly crashes (~80% of the time) when zoning (whether its teleport, or zoning in/out of a dungeon, or even zoning inside a dungeon.)
edit: Windows 10, with very mainstream modern hardware (no problems ever on other games or apps... including many 64-bit apps/games)

Unfortunately an issue came up......
Hey I don't normally post to the forums and I'm not sure where to put this break. Not only did you have a 32 bit client issue, but in some slayer areas I was running around in today, while talking on the phone, I realized after 10 or so minutes there was no count being accumulated for kills. First one was Giant Hold and it was not counting the other kills, but it was counting the giant kills. Second area I happened to be running around in was Storm Horns and in there I ran the entire west side lower area and did not accumulate one kill, however the journals were counting properly. I did get count in Kings Forest, Orchard, Wheloon, High Road and Thunderholme. Was thinking about going to some of the smaller areas and lower level stuff to look, but I think I will leave that to you guys.

In another thread, Cordovan indicated that it was known that Random Encounters in several wilderness areas were not granting xp or rewards as they should. No confirmation on slayer issues, but it's been reported on the forums by multiple people at this point. I think I'd be nice to have a "known issues" area so we know what issues are currently being worked on.

Total bummer. We can't log in either. I saw in some other threads about crashing in the load screens. Just recently I was getting some strange blink delay between clicking on a character to log in. Not sure what it means other than it is probably relevant to something.
Anyway, I wanted to say thanks for the update on the progress. As much as the whinging and moaning about when DDO is down for even a few of us (we're all so few though...). I think maybe we have collectively forgotten how skeletal the DDO crew is anymore, which is another can of sad worms about things we can't change from ...higher management. Maybe the Vaunt devices are real...

I was having issues launching the game. I was able to launch the game by simply selecting the 64bit box under options.
On the launcher .. click the pull down at the top right. Select Options. Then under the general tab you should see a 64bit option.
Worked for me only after researching the 64bit stuff and happened to trip over a reference to options on the launcher....
Lucky I found it tbh. Would have been nice if someone had mentioned it here earlier.

I have been running the 64 bit version for years and My launcher gives me a screen that there is another version running and to shut that down to continue. when I go into the task manager there is no copy running on the computer. I uninstalled my game and reinstalled it in the 64 but version and when I tried to log into the game again I got the same statement on the launcher.

Better to say that it would have been more appropriate to include a link or reference to where the selection was possible - which despite having played for years, I'd never bothered to explore. Turns out I was running 32 bit the whole time!
This appears to have done the trick in my case, though I won't know for certain until the weekend. As always, a proper user test server (which I've been angrily & repeatedly told Lam is NOT) would probably have been worthwhile.

Hi,
I've had issues with logging in ever since the Wednesday update. The game rarely got further than the character select screen. But efforts to fix it have just made things worse. At this point, I'm stymied by the "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). Click OK to close the application." message.
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the game--on a different hard drive. I've installed via Steam.
I've deleted and replaced all the C++ deliverables files.
I've deleted and replaced all the d3dx9.dll files in both the System32 and SysWOW64 folders.
I've updated the .NET framework.
I've run the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer, update, and the vcredist_x86, vcredist_x64, and Directx_Jun2020_redist applications.
I've done a chkdsk on my hard drive.
I'm running Windows 11. I have DirectX 12 installed. Graphics card is Intel(R) UHD Graphics 630. I've been playing since January and until now crashes were very rare.
I'm at my wit's end. This weekend I expected to finish my 3rd life and reincarnate as a new race, and this has been immensely frustrating. Any suggestions welcome.

As I've been unable to get the game up and running on my desktop, I have now installed on my laptop for the first time.
The game launches, but when I select the character I want to play, I get "Could not initialize Direct3D. Please ensure that DirectX 9.0c [Dec 2005] or higher is installed," and it crashes.
But that the installation specifically says that it is installing this!
I gotta say, I don't know how many new players this game gets per month, but I can't imagine many new people, facing this kind of experience, wouldn't just move on to a different game.
