Just logged on to my character after being offline for 4 months and cant be bothered to level him back to 20 from the level 10 mess he is currently, just to be able to get him onto a fresh life to get back into the game.
I just want to get a heroic ottos to 20 so I can TR back down again and get back into the game.
if I cant find an ottos on an auction house for a decent price ill probably just have to wait till they are on sale in the ddo store again and maybe ill be interested in returning at that point in time.
So suggestion: if an account logs in that has been offline for 3+ months, add a special offer bound to account heroic ottos box to the ddo store for a week for that account.
Also, I want to change race so lesser hearts are no go, and he has 80 lives and bought all the max ability, skill and other tomes already so I'm not going to start a new char.
Let me solve my problem by throwing money at it.
Edit: I have already used the IoD boxes a long time ago.
Which server are you on?
Also, the most recent sale of Otto's was barely a month ago. Normally, they don't come around until a lot later on in the year. However, given that we are shortly about to hit the Anniversary event, there might be a possibility of the Boxes becoming available again during that time. But of course, this is no guarantee, just an observation.

Cannith currently, but not opposed to server jumping again.

If you buy the ultimate IoD bundle, it comes with 2 Otto's boxes. 1 is Heroic and 1 is Epic.
I know exactly how you feel btw.
I tend to play this game hard for 6 months to a year, then take a year or two off...then come back.
Often being stuck in the middle of a really hard or non-enjoyable life it was pushes me to take a break.
Then when i come back...it starts with me readng DDOwiki and seeing a new enhancement pass or a new feature that I want to try.
Then I log in...and boom...oh yeah I am in the middle of this build that I really do not enjoy the playstyle of.
This most recent return I was in a life that I actually enjoyed, but I was just burned out on. I was level 11 when I came back.
I am unsure when you took your break, but joining a Ravenloft Saga, then a Giant Hold Saga, then a Necro 4 group gets you to Sharn. Then join a Sharn group and spam those for gear until 20. Then reset back to a build you want? Its not that bad now.
Also triple check...you may have a LR Heart in your inventory if you have been gone long enough?
Anyway, I felt the need for a long reply because I have defintely been there before.
Oh...I bought the cheapest Saltmarsh pack (and liked it like 8/10 and I bought the cheapest Feywild pack and really liked it like 9/10...so I splurged on the super ultimate bundle for IoD and its like an 10/10 for me.) SO I really wanted to check out other expansion before dropping the big money. Also, saving my Otto boxes if I ever find myself stranded again)

Pro tip: Always keep at least one heroic stone in the bank for emergencies.

If you haven't got IoD and you only want a heroic box - the collector's version will be fine (you could always upgrade later).

Not stucked here... but I thought heroic leveling is easy, even on elite? Unless the OP is stucked on a tank type character.
Anyways, I want to wait on the next big sale for IoD Ultimate. 25% off ain't enough for me. ;)

I already bought and used all the otto boxes from ult expansions including iod.
Also its not that I cant grind through it, its that I have very little free time to play and pushing a borked character to 20 is just not fun.

That would have been the smart thing to do lol.

I don't think you can upgrade.
You can buy the ultimate edition at full price and it will over-write the collectors' edition, but it's not like you only have to pay the difference in the two prices to upgrade. Better to buy the higher one now if you think you will eventually 'upgrade' later.

Dave Thomas said once that he never put out coupons for Wendy's because "Once someone pays $x for a hambuger, it will never be worth more than $x to them ever again."
I kinda agree with that.
But regardless, I do thing they should give returning players an opportunity to purchase an Ottos' box even if I don't agree with the discounted price.
Note: They do have a history of putting Otto's up for purchase around 4 times a year, and February is one of those times, so you might not have to wait for long.

Ï understand your point. However, there might also be returning players that would be put off by bying suggested to buy an Ottos box upon return. "So, they dont really want me to play, they just want me to pay lots of money".
So, your request is not as simple as it seems at first glance.

You can upgrade from the collector's to the ultimate edition or indeed from any lesser to a higher tier for Saltmarsh or IoD.

Eh, I know it "says" [Buy or Upgrade] on the website. However when I click on that it only offers 1 option to purchase whole pack. There was no special price for upgrading, it cost the full ultimate price for me.
I've also seen questions asked to devs that iirc confirmed there is no reduced 'upgrade' price.
Have you upgraded from a lower package and actually paid the lower price to do it? i'd like to know if yes, because I will open a support ticket linking this forum thread if so.

The new marketplace supports upgrading packages - starting with Saltmarsh and onwards.
If you bought a lower tier, and later buy a higher tier, you will be discounted the difference at checkout.
If this didn't work for you with your purchase, log a support ticket to be refunded the difference.

I bought the lowest tier of Saltmarsh when it was released and then upgraded to ultimate in the sale.
