News for those who don't have time to watch:

- Sev and/or Tolero will be joining him for Q&A soon, but Cord doesn't have anything nailed down yet and it may be at a different time.

- New producers letter incoming soon, Cord's fingers crossed

- Update 57 patch 2 will be coming in soon, mainly will include Snow Peaks and some bug fixes. Snowpeaks will not have any new challenges, but it will have new loot.

- They may have a fix soon for the character transfer problems and will offer a free transfer period; hopefully in February, but he said he will have a more concrete ETA soon.

- They are aware that Sarlona could potentially become a mega server with all the transfers but that's also why the duration of the transfer period is only a couple of weeks.

- Cord hinted at there being a lot of stuff next month, including Update 58 (see more below), the anniversary and the next Producer's newsletter.

- He mentioned that update 58 will contain "a couple of new archetypes", which we should get to preview when U58 comes to Lam next week.

- Still nothing he can announce about changes to VIP / subscriptions, but they ARE talking about it. He did hint/joke that when Sev comes on in the upcoming weeks, Sev will probably have something to say about the VIP stuff.

- The WotC OGL controversy has NO effect on DDO at present / nothing to do with SSG's license.

Someone probably just said one day "lets all go to sarlona when the free transfers happen" and it's spread since then. Though iirc Voodoo mains on sarlona too? I know many find his teaching raids attractive. Maybe that influences it slightly? I don't know.

I did hear about this plan in game from fellow guildies. It seems to be a player driven decision. Though I also know of people who do not plan to take advantage of this to join a player chosen "mega server". *shrugs*

Mega server / server transfer does not work until server exclusive things transfer too (shared bank >1000 items; shards; guild rank & ship & amenities etc). Lots of people spend (many) years and lots of resources and/or RL money to build that up.

As for the content. I like the archtype idea. It adds more to run for those that want but without disburbing the completionist feat. I am hoping for some archtypes I like to run. Too bad they cannot be run iconically without an LR though. That would have made them significantly more interesting and does make them much more niche as far as I am concerned.

Sadface about the VIP fiasco. That is not terribly well handled.

Free transfers. Sarlona will have free transfers to the server for a couple of weeks. Cordovan was just acknowledging the fact that a bunch of vets could choose to transfer a character to Sarlona and make it a mega-server in the process.

I've actually been thinking about moving a raid-ready toon there to join some of the teaching raids the High Lords of Malkier host.

They're not transferring their entire account, just a raid-ready character.

The only thing that is a real block to a transfer in my opinion is a large astral shard balance. Everything else can either transfer with the character or be acquired once the transfer is complete.

Orien, too and if the problem gets bigger - I heard some rumors about problems of transfers to Argo - this could turn out very interesting.
Orien has the highest number of unique characters already. Could be we all are mule addicts. Is it in a good place at the moment as the default server, lots of potential. And we could use some more endgame and/or raid people. This is a unique chance to get stuff to one or two locations and not have it scattered all over the game worlds.
I am looking forward to it.

I never understood the technical difficulty to make AS game-wide like DDO points.

Totally true, I only play iconics and have tried 0 archetypes so far. And that is the exact interest I have in new archetypes developed unless they change this design :(

The devs don't like to post things on the forums because it leaves a paper trail which creates accountability. Better to put it in some dumb video or livestream barely anyone will watch. That way, they can always claim they miss-spoke.

Hopefully they actually offer free transfers to and from all regular servers at the same time. Anything else would be playing favorites.

You can run Iconic & Archtype I have you don't need an LR unless you are doing the Iconic starting class which in many cases doesn't mesh anyways
