Howdy. Hope all is well etc etc.

I have a question for the Devs.

These overhauls that you do, in the name of reducing the amount of things the server has to calculate... do you actually see any benefit from your end after doing this?

Because I have to say Thelanis is as laggy as it has been for the last whoever cares how long. There is only one noticeable benefit I have seen and that is whatever you did to remove the lagspike when we entered Reaper mode. I remember this being something to do with your character is actually remade for reaper instances, or was, or whatever... That lagspike is pretty much gone, but other than that, the game doesnt feel any more stable than it did before we destroyed doublestrike, before we nerfed endgame monsters and gear, before the ED revamp, and before this new Imbue system.

I know a lot of work goes into these things but you have to agree that is tiring having to constantly rejig every time a new idea to streamline effects is introduced in the name of lag when said rejigs dont even have any effect in realtime. I dread to think what it would be like when we all get to level 40.

I hope one day an investment will be made to enable servers to handle more data because otherwise we will be eating rubber band sandwiches til we retire wont we!

But seriously, I am not posting this just to rant - I would genuinely like to know if this Imbue system and indeed most of the recent streamlining efforts makes a difference internally. Like, how many less things do the servers have to calculate in order to make the same rubber band sandwich?

Lag/hotkeys-not-firing has been significantly worse for me as of U57, whereas for the past 6 months+ it had been quite well.

It has been too long since any word from SSG on the status of their lag investigation. I agree, there has been no improvements. I still am stuck on load screens. I still see entire volleys of repeater shots not landing. I still see spells not going off but go on cooldown. I still see Sunbolts pass through several enemies only to register 1 damage to each, or even just register on one target.

I hate the fact that they have in their mind that they need to 'shake things up' while both big and small issues plague this game. And fixing those would go a lot longer in bringing in new players, bringing back old players and generally make a better game for those of us still here.

IMHO, considering the depth of the "old cursed code issue" in DDO, reducing the damage calculations by a small fraction could never affect the server performances by a noticeable amount.
To really put a dent in the lag issues they need to re-do a major system (as in "the system still does the same thing but now is 100 times faster").

I think it's safe to say that the Imbue overhaul is more about streamlining the gameplay to make creating new archetypes easier.
They can now put as many imbues as they want because they are exclusive, and most of all they can pretty much balance every tree by just adding Imbue Dices.

There is definitely still lag in DDO.

But it is nowhere near what it used to be when we had a long period of very bad lag.

I would say definitely improvements have been made compared to "earlier" but also that recently lag has become slightly worse again, unfortunately.

But claim nothing has improved is simply not correct. We used to get minutes long lag spikes where noone could move at all.

No, too bad, sorry, I thought I've seen an answer from the devs.

WOULDN'T IT BE AWESOME IF DEVS FOR ONCE REALLY CARED ABOUT WHAT PLAYER HAS TO SAY?

Mindblowing isn't it? (i've used caps lock just so that you can hear me scream it from joy)

What I think is, this game IS really getting some lag reduction, form the palyers leaving the game (remember, the one that are leaving now are the old whales, soon SSG will unlock a new achievement *GZ YOU DID IT!*)

They are not ending the life of the game, as fast as a merciful being would, they are killing it, slowly, to make it suffer, us with it.

We that still, love the game, even if it's changed, but we still love it, we that complain JUST BECAUSE we care!

Just a serious note, for the devs that are no longer active on the forum.

Don't they see that more than half of the posts are complaining? bugs over bugs, glitches, nerfs (oh, yeah, Imbue, after all is a creative way to nerf, and it's horrible too, design-wise speaking).

There are relly few posts that are positive or not about complaining.

The attitude that they have against all feedbacks is terrible.

"players are mean to us in feedbacks"

well, guess what? do you need feedbacks or a nice and comfy lie?

If you want a beautiful lie, devs read this:

OMG this game is perfect.
The new update feels really nice and non at all streamlined.
Imbue was the thing that we where asking for ages.
Playing melee nowdays feels like living a dream, they are perfectly on spot.
The new system that allow us, ad VIPS to enjoy fully the game content, is amazing too!
I don't know what you did but lag is completely non existant, i run perfectly even from Europe!
The new guild buffs are quite hard to get but worth all the hassle to get it.
The rebalance to exp you put to remove Otto boxes worked wonders, now there are loads of players that actually play the game instead of tossing money in the store.
Kudos also for adding warps in the newest explorer, it saved us a lot of time!
The new direction marketing has chosen is really good, instead of spilling money to skip bad content\lives\classes, you put nice and well done cosmetics. I spent a lot of money myself into new cosmetics.
What about the reworked cosmetics of Half-elf and PDK, A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
I'm glad that you are working on the netcode of the game to reduce input lag and removed many physical aspects in the game that where outdated and more annoying than useful.
The player council is working well, they have the rightful spots and they keep you updated on the few problems we have, giving you insight on how make this game the gem it is.
Just to think how good the player council is working makes me shiver & quiver. honestly

I hope i didn't missed anything.

GZ keep the good work up and going!

THANK YOU!

Sure lag has been worse, the point is that these overhauls dont seem to have a noticeable effect from the player end. I know the minute long freezes are rare now but I dont think this change will have had anything to do with the ED overhaul for example. I just dont think it is fair or honest to do these things in the name of lag, or the "health of the servers" or whatever. The game is still choppy, and will continue to be, until they invest rather than continue to streamline.

I love the game DDO, but I dont like the way its moving. The biggest issues they have been ignoring, and they are compounding existing issues by adding more confusing stuff and creating more issues.
The biggest issue over all is Bank space. There just isnt enough space. Its not rocket science, we have X amount of space, this is the sum of all the mule alts as banks, favor unlocking space, points unlocking space... We have limited space.. and when SSG keeps creating content, and adding more and more items like weapons, augments, armor, cosmetics etc... that number is increasingly getting larger than the maximum amount of bank space we can have across all our mules.
I used to be a VIP and had more slots available, but I let my subscription run out because I will no longer support a game that doesnt address the main problems with the game. I still play the game, but I dont give them money any more. When the game starts going back in the right direction, then they get my support again with a long term subscription. And the banking system is only one of the major issues. The other is too much change at once. The overhauling and gutting of this game, all the stuff they are adding. I dont even know whats what any more. All the time I spent over the years perfecting a build, getting gear for it was completely turned upside down when they added this imbue system. I loathe it because now I have to spend even more time fiddling around with builds to see what works and what doesnt.. Which means I could end up building something bad and stuck leveling it until I can TR. I dont want to spend endless hours all over again trying to figure out good builds.. I already played that game for years.. and dont want to do it again.

Im still bitter on how they destroyed the Tiefling Scoundrel racial core. They should had just left it alone. Tiefling scoundrels are bards by default. Which means they have an imbue in their swashbuckling tree ( resonant arms RIP) now an imbue, and in the Warchanter tree with the cold damage toggle.. not sure if one is in the spellsinger. Why did they feel the need to screw up the tiefling racial core.. wish they would just put it back to the default.

My rants done.

Entering and exiting instances has become a lot more predictable in the last couple of updates.

I used to get a frozen loading screen that I had to force-quit out of. Now I occasionally get 15-30 seconds of frozen loading screen followed by a predictable entrance/exit.

Agreed. Lag had been much better for me until a couple of weeks ago. Now, I am getting spells not going off and my Jibbers failed twice (but still used its charge and went on cool down). I know the spells failing aren't due to ASF as my last two lives have been pure Cleric.

We used to get minutes long lag spikes where noone could move at all.

Yep, I remember HC Season 1 where my entire party faced that in Proof is in the Poison. Amazingly, only one person died somehow.

Between the ever increasing lag, and the still-unfixed global skill cooldown, playing is worse than it was before the U57 update.

It was OK for quite awhile, but then they just had to hose up the whole game by changing too much and breaking things. Again.

Jibbers will fail in Reaper if you are not yet rezzable due to the timer.

I do this now and then when I am soloing and die in Reaper. Just fire off Jibbers to no effect.
