Because of this bug, could it be possible to extend the Night Revels event by a week or so (provided you are able to sort it out during this week)? I specifically avoided playing on regular servers while I was trying to get progress on HC server, because I was under the impression that I would have at least a week to take part in Revels after the transfers.

Lot of comments and concerns on HC wondering if they'll get to transfer in time for the home event.

I know an ETA of the fix may not be possible, but perhaps a decision and announcement regarding extending the event might be well received by the masses.

I agree with this sentiment. I also have a bunch of Mabar ingredients I was planning to transfer to my main server. If they didn't expire it wouldn't be as big of a concern. Please either fix the transfer issue, extend Mabar until it is fixed, or let us all know that once transfers are back online, there will be a limited time to have the Mabar trader available.

Any update or ETA on making character transfers available again? I know you know what the problem is (based on your weekly Wednesday live stream this week) and you presumably know what the fix is since it is the same bank tabs issue you had with reincarnations after the bank update.

I started playing DDO in 2006. Yes, really I did. I made many characters because I was/am frugal and at the time did no want to commit to a monthly subscription. I just didn't know how to justify it financially. Eventually, however, I committed and loved it. I love the game, I love D&D and love that DDO tried to replicate that idea of pen and paper D&D.

In a world, way back then even, the digital age was still something that was evolving. At my heart I am still a pen and paper D&D player and DM. I was 12 in 1980 and I was the guy my friends asked to be the DM. I knew nothing but opened up that basic box and looked agape at that borderlands module....not even understanding what a module was and decided I would plunge forward. My friends were blown away at what the idea of the game could do/be. I threw, for some unknown reason, a Green Dragon into the midst of the keep. The "heroes" battled the foe and through imagination they defeated the fell creature. It was amazing! I was humbled....

I tell you this because your game, even 40 plus years later has amazed me. But being the curmudgeon that I am and ever frugal I would eventually drop from my subscription, even when the prospect of "free" was made a reality. I have done that twice since 2006 and find myself reinvested in DDO again now in since January 2022. The game and the mechanics behind it are daunting in my old age to say the least. Again I find myself wondering how to handle Hardcore league. And my first time, Season 6, had me perplexed and joyful. Good times and well done SSG!! Exactly. I am currently waiting on transferring a Night Revels storage toon from Hardcore to Orien. Keys and various ingredients that I saved for my main server. Other toons I made on Hardcore went to other servers I do not currently play, mostly because my main server is full of alts. As with Brez, I assumed that server transfers to Orien would have been fixed. I assumed that once Hardcore closed, I would have a week to use these items. Please delay the ending of Night Revels to one week after you fix the transfer problems.

I wonder if this issue has been pushed to get u57 out .......i get that but i fear as per usual the fall out of a update will then push this issue back even farther..........i cannot speak for all but i can for myself and a hand full of guildies if this lingers for weeks on end i / we will be upset even more than we already are ......i see folks leaving too often these days and the theme is always the same ..........total disregard for customers

Is there a reason why you just don't run the event on Hardcore? I managed to use the 50+ keys I had after the season ended this past weekend on Hardcore when I realized that transfers were not going to happen. I crafted a bunch of augments and items that will eventually make it to the live servers and no keys wasted.

Not that I'm aware of, though it's possible Cordovan said something in another thread. Information seems to be disclosed in different replies throughout the forums. For example - those worried about HCL keys expiring in this thread had their issue addressed in this post here:

Help from the forums please! My dead character isn't in the list to transfer - I have gone back to the land of the living but the character is still showing as dead and not showing up in the transfer window - what else am I supposed to do to get her eligible to transfer...am I missing something?

It sounds to me like if we want to transfer to Orien from hardcore we should just sit tight and wait and transfers directly from hardcore to Orien will be available at a later date. However, I watched your Wednesday live stream and it sounded like we need to transfer to a different server by Dec 4th and then later we can transfer from that other server to Orien. Which is it?

Even though I think it's great that you're planning to allow free transfers to Orien (our server wants more players), I think it's ridiculous that you're planning to close the hardcore server before people from Orien have had a chance to move their toons there. I am predicting that a such a thing will result in players moving their toons to other servers and leaving them there.

This is just a terrible way to treat customers. If you can't fix the problem, then leave the server unwiped until you have fixed the transfers, then open it again to give ppl a chance to transfer off.

I might be doing something wrong, but I don't get sensible behaviour from the "transfer" dialog.

Steps:

Run launcher
Log in to DDO
Click Transfer
Wait a little - "select worlds" box appears but there are no available worlds. It seems to be a zero-entry-high list box.


However, I can still log in to the hardcore server and use my character, which itself seems a little odd.

How many characters can we transfer?
I have 3 on HC that I would like to transfer - will i be able to transfer all 3 to Orien from some other server?
I would think that once a character has transferred to another server, it would no longer have a HC flag, so how would you know that the transfer was a 2 step one and not an indigenous character?

PS You should make this response [not reply to my query, but the one above that transfers must go somewhere from HC by 4 Dec so that those waiting to go to Orien do not miss the post. I see the previous, less clear post in a few places, but this is the only clarification i have seen. Maybe make it a sticky [until it is no longer needed?]

Except that it's not impossible that SSG will fix Orien before Dec 4, so don't mark that on your calendar as a guarantee and not check back in the forums for updates. But other than that, yes.

ALSO, your HC characters don't all have to go to the same place. Someone who maybe wanted a bunch of stuff moved from here & there to Orien might stage a transferred HC char on each alt server who would then, some day, get to free transfer to Orien.

You know, for anyone who might be able to make use of that kind of thing. ;)

I think creating a specific dev topic on that would be extremely helpful for the community especially if it also shows up when loading the game. I think alot of people might miss it otherwise - mostly solo type players that aren't connected well with other community members. Perhaps I missed it, but this is the first post I've seen on that and only heard from someone watching a live stream that you mentioned the free transfers to orien.

Your below quote needs to be added to the OP for ease. The OP still can be read as if the HC server will be brought up to allow transfer to Orien at a later date.


No, if you want to go from Hardcore to (eventually) Orien you need to transfer your character off by the end date of through December 4th. Since we can't guarantee that Orien will be available to transfer to by then, you'll want to go to a different world and then transfer again to Orien for free when we offer it in the future.

Ok Thanks for clarifying. I've been checking daily to hopefully move my character over to Orien.

The way that reads to me is.

- We are still trying to address the issue and have not had the progress we'd like
- We don't want to delay the enjoyment for future players on the Hard Core Server
- We want you to move to another server which gives us a bit of reprieve.
- In the Near future we will be providing Free Transfers to the Orien Server.

I don't mind waiting, there is no reason for the Dev Team to delay if this was an easy fix.

Looking forward to using my HC chars on Orien though, Hopefully for Christmas!

I am unable to transfer a character from Hardcore to Sarlona.

Never joined a guild.

Tried moving character to a different area before initiating transfer again.

Fails every time.

I am not the first to have this issue today.

In the last hour I tried transferring my last 2 dead toons from the Hardcore server to Sarlona. I tried 3-4 times and it does not succeed. I thought the issues were with Orien. I may try other servers, otherwise, I guess they can clear them out before next Thursday Dec 8th.

Tried transferring my HC toon to Sarlona twice and it fails.
I opened a ticket with support; however I don't think they'll get to it before HC closes.
