View Full Version : Shadowblade TR bug not fixed

So with the latest patch shadowblades were removed from TR cache as intended. However, only up to 1 is removed. So if you had 2 stuck in your TR cache you still have one remaining continuing to block TR. The timer on it will count down but will not disappear at 0 but instead reset back to where it was at when the bug occurred.

@HumbleFriar Why not just have the Shadowblade destroyed on logout or upon speaking with the Lifeshaper? This would prevent the TR bug from occurring in the 1st place.

In addition to this, since u56 flame blades (and I imagine shadowblades) can be moved from your mainhand slot into your regular bank without dissipating but are then stuck there. I tested this on a druid alt I don't play anymore so it's not a big loss.

I noticed my summoned bolts (arti level 1 spell) I cast yesterday were still there today in inventory when I logged in. That's unusual.

We have identified the issue - I'm properly removing the main hand, I was unaware that the offhand was a different item. We'll be getting rid of the offhand items soon. Thanks for the report!

Think it would be a quick fix or should we expect it to wait until next week's downtime?

So I have a 3rd ticket in begging to have shadowblade deleted from TR cache. Something was done as now the error I get whenever I try to move it anywhere is "Bank Failed". Hopefully this can be resolved soon. I have been trying to TR for weeks now to try the arch types on my main, but am stuck.

Could you guys delete the shadow blade in my characters TR cache too?

I'm happy to be able to say that the Shadowblades in the TR cache (main and offhand) will be resolved early next week, Wednesday at the latest.
I understand the frustration in not being able to TR. I'm new to the team and I made mistakes in my first two attempts to fix the issue. For that I'm sorry.
Please know that I don't take these failures lightly. I take all of your feedback to heart. I will continue to do my best to not let you all down.

Can't blame a new Dev making a mistake, it's hard to come walking in and start working on legacy code you're not familiar with.
Next assignment for you.......LADDERS!

We all fail from time to time. I frequently fail to teleport and still haven't figured out how to recover from that.

We are working on that too Brekian. I have to say, I like what you did there.
I know we did take care of one of the issues causing the failed teleports.
With the aid we've been given by the community, we have the logs to track down the remaining ones.
Thanks again for the chuckle.

Teleports can fail because that's in the D&D rules. WAI.

I've got a flame blade in alt's bank that can't be removed or destroyed. No clue what'll happen with it if I ever TR that character. I thought the shadowblade work might make it go away but it's still sitting there.

Sometimes just saying "Hey I messed up, my bad" goes a long ways. This is, in part, because even when the sentiment is felt but not shared it can easily feel to the community the same as developer indifference.
Many devs come across to the portion of the community that has been around a while like they stopped caring if its done right the first time a while ago. Whether that read is right or wrong, it doesn't help that several of us are experienced devs who would be fired for that sort of indifference and understand first hand what quality of work is possible (yes, even on older and far more archaic code than DDO).
This is why showing that when you mess up it bothers you, giving "we're sorry" benefits to impacted players on even minor issues, etc.. goes a very long ways and is par for the course in MANY other games people here play. They are indicators that you empathize and getting it wrong bothers you which makes you far more likely to actually try to get it right. And yes, while it is just a game, it is one that you and we have put a lot of time and effort into.
From my perspective in the community I've only seen heartfelt sentiments like this expressed by yourself and Lynnabel in recent memory, and I/we do appreciate it when its done.
Some will disagree with that read, and that's fine, but I am far from alone in that assessment and I want to stress that despite what is probably a similarly cynical view from the other side, this contingent is not at all impossible to please. Even the appearance, over time, of trying to make the effort, as we have here, would soften a lot of the cynicism.

10/10 dev post. I'll just say no more to keep it positive.
