1. Morale checks.
A level 32 toon walks into a heroic-level quest for whatever purpose it decides (fun, farming, favor) and proceeds to mercilessly slaughter the mobs within. It is clear the mobs have ZERO shot of doing anything about this. At what point do they a) go all hands on deck and attack their aggressor en masse in a desperate last stand, b) get the hell out of Dodge, or c) play along with the DDO precept that EVERY SINGLE MOB IN THE GAME is completely fanatical and fights to the death regardless of the circumstances? No precedent for this, you say? Exhibit A: Under the Cover of Darkness. Naturally, the intelligence level of the opposition will play a factor, which leads to my next point:
2. Flanking and spellcasting.
Been playing DDO for ten years and to this day don't understand flanking and spellcasting capabilities being gifted to beings that aren't intelligent enough to grasp the concept of flanking and spellcasting. Moreover, this sort of negates intelligence being a factor in the threat level of a monster. Thus, we have supra-genius liches and dumb-as-a-stump kobolds both chucking lightning bolts at you.
3. Ranged attacks.
What's the point of being a ranged toon if you can't actually, you know, range? Sorry, but if I see you, you're a target and the only thing that should be stopping me from attacking you is a lack of ammo. Mouse-looking and tapping a mob on its shoulder to ask its permission to be attacked kinda takes the fun out of it.
4. "I have true seeing and FoM!"
Pools of water and a preponderance of invisible/concealed/hidden/obscured/whatever mobs running full speed at you (to flank, of course) would like to have a word.
That's it for now. I have encased a live scorpion in a block of stone and want to keep an eye on how long it takes to get out. Have a good day!
