While I would love to see it as a real class (more or less the eldritch equivalent for a paladin, a melee that has some arcane magic on top, instead of a arcane caster with some melee), with the introductions of archetypes, the path of making the Hexblade class as one may be more sensible/less time-consuming and fits how hexblades were treated in 4e and 5e.

Give it simple and martial weapon proficiency, proficiency with medium armor, and take away most pact abilities except the pact dice. The trees would be Eldritch Knight, Enlighten Spirit (even though both give proficiencies in weapons and armor), and Hexblade, with Hexblade being a marking focus tree like HW, that "curses" the target and interacts with said curse.
With the scaling of EK spellsword and ES aura, this would become a powerful elemental warrior, in addition to some of the CC and instas of a warlock that can be used. Or it could be an interesting tank, using Hexblade debuff and thze toughness of ES to take on raid bosses, weakening them even for your allies. Or a great single target DPS by cursing the enemy and taking it down with the damage of an EK.

Past Life could be 1 melee and 3 force spell power per stack.

But to be honest, please make a real hexblade class, using curses and debuffing in addition to melee prowess.
