*
Crystallized Candy Corn <ML 1> When you die, confetti pops out in colors of Orange, Black, Green & Purple. (Like the Legendary Feat from Limbo).
*
Sentient Gem of the Tormented "They're coming for meeee I can feel them, sense them... ohhh we won't get awaaaayy... they'll get us eventually!" << IMO A panicked, maddened voice would be pretty goofy. They'd be losing it constantly.
*
Sentient Gem of the Twisted "Kill them dead... no... MORE! DEadER thAN DEAD HAhaHAhHA! BloooOOooOD!!!" << IMO... They crazy. *Credit kilagan800
*
Sentient Gem of the Foolish "Life is but a stage, is that not so, my murderous companion? Some we shall save, others we will harm, many more will pass by unnoticed, transient and irrelevant to our conquest? I say sir, do go on! << A goofy, morally grey sentient gem. Very wry, mocking tone.

QUESTS / MAPS

FROM BEYOND THE PALE A spookier version of 'From Beyond the Grave' *Credit Caradui
#

Instead of lighting Funerary Pyres to escort the dead to the afterlife, you must consecrate sacred fountains and purge blighted waters from impurity. You must defend the gate from collapse.
Undead will arrive in waves numbered 1 to 3 for a star each, and each wave is prompted when a fountain is warded and a blight cleared (the blight is protected by Slimes).
The fourth star requires you to save an overwhelmed cleric from Ghasts.
The fifth star requires the defeat of thrice-raised Deathshade, now as a Demi-Lich, guarded by Hellhounds. Dropping his barrier allows a Marut through, who takes him to Dolurrh.

^
A HOWL IN THE NIGHT A spookier version of 'Where There's Smoke' *Credit Annex
#

Nash Braza's beloved hunting dogs have gone missing again... he'd go out and look for them but this accursed mist has enveloped the farm and with a broken leg, he is in no shape to move... it's up to you! Find all 3 Dogs (3 stars).
Starting at the farm, descend into the valley seeking the dogs, facing haunted mists and the horrors that lurk within. The dogs have been bewitched, and require being damage first, as well as killing the controlling shadow. They will be typed as Barghests until freed.
The fourth star requires you kill a Witch and her Zombie servants, lurking deep in the jungle. With her last breath she summons a great evil.
The fifth appears as a giant worm (really an enchanted plant mob) with a huge pumpkin head. Accompanied by two Pumpkin Shambling Mounds.

^
ACCURSED ASYLUM A spookier version of 'Sane Asylum' *Credit Aelonwy
#

You enter into the Asylum under request of Order of Aureon Ecclesiast Perman Tinbolt , and his companion Luroc Deepstone, advisor from The Twelve. They have answered a call from Caretaker Spalthe that the Asylum has become unhinged and uncontrollable. How can this be? How much more mad can the patients get?
You arrive at the asylum... but all is not well... a pitched series of moans streams out relentlessly into the night... You then find the caretaker hunched over in the lobby, seconds from death, all he knows to do is shiver and mutter to himself. You open the barred gate, the patients have battered them endlessly, and just then a wave of undead attack! 1 star for clearing them.
The second star requires locating the Wall of Living Shadow. Destroying it and the gem nearby brings down the shroud of Mabar. Darkness suffuses the interior of the asylum. To see requires you to either light torches as you go, or equip one and carry it yourself.
The third star requires you to locate the nightmare, The Pale Horse that invites Death. This ends the horrid dream you were trapped in, returning you to the material plane. But the madness remains, and now you must fend off the remaining inmates, twisted forms and hideous gibbering ghouls.
The fourth star requires you kill a Death Tyrant Beholder, saving Perman, as well as a Kasharin Beholder that is menacing Luroc.
You free the Ecclesiast and his Wizard companion. Turning to you, they explain the source of the madness, and the reason for the disfigured forms prowling the asylum... an Alhoon is in residence! The fifth star requires you immediately eliminate this disturbing Illithilich!

^
DINING IN A spookier version of 'Dead Predators'
#

To celebrate Sypheros, you've been invited to a party! Sure it's in the ruins of an old Chapel beneath House Jorasco but don't let that put you off! You arrive as the darkness descends... to find an immaculately decorated tomb... and they seem to love the color red! The other guests arrive one by one and you find yourself a seat at the table... but as the night draws on you begin to have suspicions... the maitre'd seems to have a concealed blade, as do many of the attendants... the food is hearty but the servants look almost... eager, as if something will transpire... and then you see the centerpiece! A miniature shrine to Vol! It's a set-up, and you had better fight for your life! (1st Star).
You see the Head Butler make off with the Guests' blood offering, you run to catch him before he can endeavor to anything evil! (2nd Star).
The third star requires you to go to the upper wing to make your escape. There you here a gnashing of teeth and body parts strewn about... a pack of Ghouls burst out of the musty room, fight them off and kill the Fallen Priest among them. You pull the lever that opens the lower doors.
The fourth star requires you to try to escape through the courtyard... uh oh! A Looming spirit of Mabar rears it's many heads! An air elemental with floating pumpkins attacks. After it's defeat the side-entry to the main hall opens. The larder is unlocked as well.
The fifth star requires you to solve a cube puzzle downstairs while hounded by shadows, solving the puzzle unlocks the magically warded door in the Main Entryway. Of course, the gracious hosts won't let you leave either, there's the after-party after all! You face Bezrelain Ghost-Maker, Blackguard of Lady Vol and his vampiric cohort.

BATS IN THE BELFRY A spookier version of 'And The Dead Shall Rise'
#

Tomb-Keeper Rythis has expressed his worry that a Cleric initiate might have gone astray in the Spire of Validus during routine maintenance of the Lich's former tower. Believing that something suspicious has occurred, you have been asked to investigate.
Arriving at the tower's base, the first sign that things have gone wrong is the fountain of blood... it should be dry as a bone, but it flows heartily and with a sickening tone... nearby you see a corpse, initially assumed to be the young acolyte. It turns out to be Tomb-Keeper Rythis! But then... who was it that gave you this task? Just then a flight of bats descend! Defeat the swarm for the First Star.
You decide to ascend and locate the missing Cleric... and the undead move to impede you! Mummies, Ghosts, Ghouls, Phantoms and other Apparitions that stalk the night! While fighting them off, you can burn Dark Shrines (10/10) for the Second Star.
Climbing the spiraling stair, up and up...you reach the 4th floor and it is lousy with Bats! Where do they come from and does it ever end? You barely finish your thoughts when 4 beautiful women appear in the large room, smiling at you... but your guard is up and you know them to be Evil! Their glamers collapse and reveal a Banshee, a Vampire, a Succubus and a Hag! Face your foes for the Third Star.
The Fourth Star is the result of facing the Chamberlain at the gate to the Apex of the Tower who's eyes glow bright red with malice. You ask of the Cleric's whereabouts, but he just smirks and attacks!
At last you have reached the top of the tower once again... but someone new is sitting in the Throne of Validus... why, it's the wayward Cleric initiate! A ancient vampire with fangs bared, he peels off his transformation spell and sneers; he has plotted time and time again to bait adventurers into his lair... and casting your eyes about you see his victims lining the edge of the room! Fight, fight for your life! Face off against H'rengal Vepes the Deceiver and his Raised Adventurers and Fallen Heroes.

You've outdone yourself this year. :)

The premise for Dining In is actually quite good. I counter with...

An Evening of Charades

You receive an invitation signed by Count Bezrelain Graymoor, a wealthy aristocrat who recently arrived in Stormreach. The count extends his best wishes and requests you attend a masquerade ball to be held in your honor this very evening. The missive indicates that Miss Anabele d'Jorasco will also be in attendance. On a news stand nearby, you can see the front page of the current Stormreach Chronicle. The headline reads: Anabele d'Jorasco Missing. As the setting sun touches the horizon, you steel yourself for the night to come.

As you enter Grarmoor Mansion, you face an array of people wearing grotesque masks. Upon the landing above stands a tall, pale man in a black and red suit. "Good evening, <player character>. I am so pleased you accepted my invitation." The doors behind the player character slam shut. "Masquerade", says the count and all lights in the room, save a few flickering candles, are extinguished.

"At last, I may sate my hunger!" "Oh, how I thirst!" "I cannot resist the scent of your sweet blood!" The other guests cry out as a chorus and then attack. Defeating this wave earns 1 star.

On the table, next to a small statue of Vol, you find a note in the Count's handwriting. "Thank you for disposing of these self important, provincial cretins, dear <character name>. They hold the lands adjacent to mine and refused to sell. Perhaps their relatives will give my offer greater consideration. You will find Anabele d'Jorasco within the cellar. Do not tarry."

Proceeding down the stairs into the damp cellar, your senses are assailed with the stench of decay and human waste. Forms stir in the deep shadows. "The feast at last!" "Meat! Meat!" "I cannot! I must!" "My hunger! It burns!" In a series of long chambers, ghouls and ghasts assail the player character. Defeating this wave earns 1 star.

At the end of the wide corridor, deep underground, the player character finds yet another note pinned to the door with a broach bearing the seal of House Jorasco. "When my mistress spoke glowingly of your prowess in battle I felt a pang of jealousy. How dare she favor you! An enemy of her faith! A mortal! Did you enjoy destroying all those peasants? Now you are covered in their death and filth. My lady will scorn you when I am done. You must pass through the cistern to reach Miss d'Jorasco. Time is short."

The door opens into a large room dominated by a central cistern. A very powerful water weird rises from the water and attacks. Waves of drowned zombies continue to arrive throughout the battle until the monster is defeated. Completing this phase earns 1 star.

On the far side of the room, next to a heavy wooden door, you find a small table laden with another note. "They all drowned in the cistern. I pushed them in, one at a time, and held them under the water. No amount of water will wash away the innocent blood you spilled today. Your stench defiles my home. Do hurry. They are waiting for their sacrifice."

The stout wooden door opens into yet another large chamber. A great pentagram lies inscribed into the stone floor. Blood cakes the flagstones. Four beautiful women, newly made vampires clad in red, bare their long fangs as you enter and attack. Defeating these enemies earns 1 star.

On the far side of the room lies another door, another table, and a final note. "They were so alive. So young. Flowers in full bloom. I dedicated them to my Lady but I made them all red just for you. My Lady always has such high hopes for her lovely red flowers. Now they are gone. You destroyed them. She will hate you for it. Only one door remains. I am going to kill you, then offer your corpse to the Lady. She will never again burn my ears with compliments for you."

Opening the final door reveals a well kept library. Standing in the center of the room stands Count Graymoor. "A thousand curses upon you and all your kind. Tonight I will make sacrifice of you. She will never again favor your name!" With that the count attacks. At various points in the battle he summons rats, bats, ghouls, ghasts, and zombies. Defeating him yields the final star.

As Graymoor crumbles to ash, you feel another presence in the room. Turning, you find yourself in the presence of Lady Vol. "You never disappoint, brave <character name>." She walks closer and the player character asks, "Why?" She replies, "He was a traitor to my cause. Arrogant. Vain. Stupid. We are not enemies, you and I." She comes closer still. "I can be many things. Wonderful things. I would shower you with accolades, rose petals, and even more." The player character says, "Perhaps some day." or "One day I will kill your last follower, shatter your vile bones, and salt the earth with your foul ashes." Lady Vol turns away and says, "Perhaps. She is hidden behind a secret panel. The password is Lady Vol." She then vanishes.

Saying the password, "Lady Vol", opens a secret panel revealing a terrified but otherwise unhurt Anabele d'Jorasco. "Oh my goodness! Are you real?" The player character replies, "Let's get you out of here."

Hah, I love the prompt and the dialogue. I also like Anabele d'Jorasco returning, although Drusen d'Jorasco could also be there!

Masquerade Ball is a fun idea too, with deathknights and ghostly patrons...

I like to know how you inserted a background picture. Oups! I guess I ought to fix that...

Looks like the background is drawin' attention hahah!

It's a format bug that results from using "((" as list separators with incorrect

BLOCKADE SANCTIFIER A spookier version of 'Blockade Buster'
#[INDENT]
Shipping in Stormreach has ground to a halt, sailors are menaced by foul undead ogres, massive pale spiders and flying pumpkins! This is much worse than the usual Ghost Pirates, and to make matters worse, the webs have ensnared the largest vessels, sealing them in! A cruel chorus of laughter rises out of the lower decks on the downed ships... what lurks below...?
To clear the first star, wipe out the undead dotting the webs stringing the ships together and make your way port-side. As you clamber into each ship's hull, prepare to be attacked by a Lich and their servants! Once defeated, the Lichlord will escape above decks.
Stars 2, 3 & 4 Require you destroy the Phylactery of each Lich, hidden somewhere on the ship. Then defeating the Lichlord itself.
The fifth star requires the defeat a Lich Avenger, which is accompanied by a huge Phase Spider that acts as the last Phylactery.

PERILOUS PACKAGING A spookier version of 'Hiding in Plain Sight'
#

Scrag the Kobold has come to you for help, apparently someone is snatching Kobolds off the street! These insidious acts have reached even the nests in the sewers and a sickly sweet smell has begun to emanate out of the grates and vents that line the streets of the harbor... Scrag believes Baudry Cartamon has some hand in this, so you head off to his warehouse!
You arrive at Cartamon's Office, only to find it empty, save for a Street Vendor, pacing inside. The old crone Maggie Maybright tells you that Cartamon hasn't returned from the warehouse depths for some time, and then, quite oddly she encourages you to seek him out... well I guess you're trespassing now! In the main hall, loaded with crates and boxes, you notice Kobolds traipsing around a glowing box... that can't be good! 1st star requires you defeat the enthralled Kobolds & the enchanted Box-Golem that controlled them.
The second star requires you to navigate downwards, into the smuggler's shipway, clearing undead of many types, mostly Kobolds, and bats/rats/slimes. Following the sweet smoke, you arrive at the water vent, but something blocks it.
The third star involves killing the Giant Syrup Slime and the Putrid Sugar Cubelets it accompanies to get to the hidden Dock.
The fourth star requires you free 10 Kobolds along the way.
The fifth star sees you arrive at the hidden dock... and you see Baudry! But he's tied up, as are the remaining Kobolds... you notice stacks of boxes labeled 'Kobold Cookies... real Kobold inside!' and shudder! Just then a figure emerges from a concealed hut... it's Maggie... only she's Green! The hag cackles and incants a spell. The Boxes rise and heed her call. Defeat Maggie 'Many-Teeth' Maybright and a raised Hazadill the Horrid to destroy the operation!

How's that suit ye? BTW I don't think SSG will use a Feywild map, so I used a Harbor one, F2P.

I'd also add unique mobs from Mabar to these maps, obviously, so pumpkin mobs are a must! And vargouilles, and flameskulls and...

Hell Yeah! Another one for Team Skull Head!

1. Greater Cask of Slumberdust - Throwable Item, Casts Deep Sleep on impact (multi-target) DC Scales.

2. Wand of Candy Floss (x50) - Casts Web. Scaled DC. Web is either Orange, White, Green or Purple.

Love it. Don't know why SSG wouldn't use an expansion quest map, potentially, they could work as limited time advertisements of the sorts of quests/maps/mobs?/scenery available for expansion $purchase$. I'm not saying reuse an entire expansion but reusing a select expansion dungeon could be a marketing idea of genius proportions if they do it right. Bonus it doesn't give anyone access to expansion loot, just a look at the expansion quality.

Last night, while lying in bed trying to sleep, I thought about Night Revels. At this point, I have all the Night Revels equipment I want. The spectral Great Crossbows I made two years ago ended up being useless because Inquisitive is so much better than Mechanic. The spectral Warhammers I made last year as ooze beaters ended up being useless because most of my characters lack proficiency. In previous years, I made lots of augments, Spectral Daggers, and Spectral Throwing Daggers.

The only thing that still appeals is the Diadam of Spectre to block pumpkin and skull bombs. Last year, I made about 12 of those. This year, I will make 12 more. That will keep me busy for one evening.

While I appreciate the effort SoVeryBelgian put into the item suggestions above, none of them interest me. Part of that is a desire to keep storage clear. Part is the wide selection of weapons already available in DDO. Part is the need for laser focused equipment attributes, otherwise it will not fit. Part is the lack of set bonuses on festival equipment.

.....

What is left? What do the artists and developers actually have time to make?

Level 32 Spectral Dagger: The damage bump from 28 to 32 is immense.

Level 32 Spectral Throwing Dagger: As above.

White Reveler's Regalia: Every year, we get a color change on the Reaper Plate. Can we get a color change on the Reveler's Regalia? Is such a thing even possible?

Spectral Quarterstaff: Over the last two years I tried 4 or 5 quarterstaff characters. As best I can tell, far more characters can use a quarterstaff than a warhammer. These would make decent weapons for a lot of characters in a lot of situations since they maul reapers and nothing can break them.

These are not fun or original suggestions but from a strictly utilitarian view, I would aggressively play for and use them.

As things stand, the bulk of Night Revels items require an upgrade process. If time allows, please replace that system with one where players can directly craft items. Such an update would allow sentience on ML 20 and ML 24 weapons.

This request is very probably already on the Night Revels To Do List, but I include it here for completeness.

Everything in this thread is low priority when compared to bugs related to recent storage changes. Please fix everything related to the storage overhaul first. If that means few or no changes to Night Revels, so be it. Eyes on the ball.

Cordovan confirms new Reaper Mail color + Cosmetics this year. Meep Morp.

NO New Maps though. Sadness

I agree. Sentient Please.

I mean I guess? Everything in the Suggestions forum is for... suggesting things... and everyone knows suggestion allows you to control a single enemy for 30+2 seconds per caster level...

AND SO I REMAIN UNDAUNTED! MORE SPOOKY-NESS TO COME, MY FELLOWS!

SHIPMENT OF SHADOWS A spookier version of 'Ruined Halls'
#

The logistics in Stormreach have taken a rather perilous hit during the coterminous eve of Mabar, and many merchants now scramble to protect their product from the usual horrors of night, undead or otherwise. One such man is Edvag Goodgold, Patron of House Kundarak. At his behest, and that of his Chief Warder Samkin White-Root you have been asked to secure and protect a shipment intended for one of Sharn's Mercantile Lords. Goodgold suggests you prepare for Eldritch Tomfoolery, Ghostly Shenanigans and Spiritual Hooliganism. You grimace as you consider what he might mean, and head to the storage facility to investigate.
Upon arriving at the entry vestibule you are ushered in by a mirthful fellow named Jack. He wishes to play a game with you. Just then the doors lock, and your heart sinks. A game of death you presume, and he nods in agreement.
Time to play then! The first star is HIDE and SEEK. Jolly Jack and his Jeering Jesters lurk around the facility. Locate his Umbral Representatives and slay them, collecting 5 keys.
After unlocking the door to the main hall, the Second Star is revealed to be SIMON SAYS. Giant runes blink above Jack, and you must run around the large room, clicking the concealed smaller runes in order, or suffer punishment. Cackling Creakers [Skeleton Spooks] will attack you while you run about, as well as other undead & construct enemies.
Solving the Rune Puzzle drops the barrier to the Maintenance Ward, and the Third Star is revealed, Jack laughs heartily and says, JUMP! The Floor is Lava! Flame streams out, melting the lower floor, and you have to race against time and electric wards to reach the upper floor and pull the Sprinkler lever!
You finally confront Jack in the control office. But he disappears in a puff of smoke. A voice whispers faintly out of the ether... Trick or Treat? Two doors appear. The Fourth Star is automatic when either room is completed. You can only do 1. The first room is laden with traps, guarding a decadent cake at the center. Solving the deadly maze to get there turns out to be deceit, the cake is alive! Fight it off! The second room is full of delicious food that restores your health, but eating it prompts the Spirits of Mabar lurking at the table to attack, defend yourself! Once complete, a door appears and you step though it.
The Fifth and final star sees you challenge Jack himself, in the warded monster room. He's overcome with laughter and then a clicking noise is heard. The barriers drop, and you have to contend with a wave of monsters!

Where or when did Cordovan confirm a new color?

And feel free next year to use any images I've done for the Mabar ideas. I made 2 new ones recently, in case you missed them.

SoVeryBelgian, my last post was not intended to dump on you or your thread. Just like you, I enjoy Night Revels. The dungeons are atmospheric, kinetic, and devoid of fancy stuff that annoys me. Just like you, I was hoping for new dungeons, new equipment, and many new cosmetic items. Just like you, I am disappointed.

With regards equipment, regardless of the source, I will never use 99% of the items offered in DDO. Just like everyone else, my characters benefit from very specific things. It so happens our lists do not match up. That's all. I do not expect everything catered to me. Since your list does not match my list, I offered some additional suggestions.

I strongly suspect Update 56 resulted in some developer time rescheduling and that Night Revels 2022 was sacrificed on that alter. As much as I want new stuff from Night Revels, I want stable go rounds and vault space even more. My intent was to let the developers know that I accept that sacrifice, not to undermine your efforts. The circumstances were extraordinary.

In the future, I suggest you start your Night Revels suggestion thread a month or two before the event begins. The developers can whip up some equipment with a week to go, but new dungeons require significantly longer lead time.

.....

Last night, I booted up The Lord of the Rings Online to apply the latest free quest coupon code. Since I was there, I visited the Halloween event in that game. Oh my goodness. The barter merchants have over a dozen new pets, a couple steeds, a couple sets of war steed barding, all sorts of armors and cloaks and even a new dress with accessories. There is a new quest chain that allows you to put out candies on the porch of your home and then go trick or treating.

I also went through some of the free items in my inventory, awarded from various promotions. My characters were just handed four or five pets, some steeds, and even some really good looking armor. The art direction over there is really good.

It made me really sad. In comparison, DDO gets so little attention.
