This new cove gear: The squid smasher, copper dwarven war ax...
how are these good? They look like garbage to me.

Which says to me the main intent is that players buy these in order to use mirrors to glamour them.

I believe they're supposed to be glamered, not glamoured.

Apparently they're just copies of Saltmarsh items though, so its not even a unique glamer

They are not! All four of the new items have unique visuals. They are indeed reminiscent of the Saltmarsh style (aka share a model) but they each have unique and never-used textures.

I bought a Darkwood Shield from CC.
I threw it away immediately once I saw how closely it resembled the cosmetic I already made from it's Saltmarsh counterpart https://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Skull_of_the_Sea.
I give you an A++ for the squidsmasher and orb, and a B+ for the Bronze Dwarven Axe- but I feel the shield is too close to be considered to have "unique visuals" as you say. It's the exact same shield, just with darker finish. Not a big deal, was always just going to be a cosmetic. Is it possible no artwork exists that could be posted in advance in the guide you created for the event? It's strange we have to waste our time and mats for something you could have just added in the guide you took the time to make.

They are good for now, since you can put sentient filigrees on them until they get fixed.

Fixed in u 56.2 Thursday 22nd so you outa luck as its raises to min lvl20
