Crystal Cove question

So my son and i got our compasses and headed to the cave to do the crystal cove challenge. Its been trial and error with just 2 of us and trying to get past 1 star. But we have run into a problem. Not sure if its a bug or what. So everything works great within the first 14 or 15 minutes. Then suddenly with 4 to 5 minutes left the kobolds just walk back and forth from the crystals to the delivery guy without ever picking any crystals up. Even with torches very welll placed all the way to the crystals once you hit a certain time they just stop working and only walk back and forth. We've come close to getting 2 stars multiple times but we havent because of this. Did we do something wrong ? or is this known and others are experiencing it as well ? Thank you DDO community.

Hmmm...

There is a max range from the torches to the crystals - once the Kobolds harvest the "close" ones, and the rest are out of range, the Kobolds won't hike the extra distance.

It's also not impossible that someone, somehow, broke the torch chain somewhere - easier than it sounds, and that'll do it too.

But without images, not sure. :/

(What server, what level are you running at? Maybe someone can help?)

Sometimes a torch connection will show up visually even though the torch is not properly connected. This seems to happen most frequently for me at roughly the max range for a visual connection.
