View Full Version : Why wasn't Salt Ray fixed in U56.02?

Salt Ray currently doesn't scale with spell power. When casting Salt Ray, your spell power is always zero.

Empower and Maximize also do not increase damage (but still increase spellpoint cost). I'm guessing Intensify is the same.

Quicken still works, and Heighten too as far as I can tell.

I had to stick Produce Flame and Splinterbolt back in the rotation and add Sunbeam to compensate. Now all the mobs are laughing at me.

I was mocked by an otyugh yesterday. He said I was stinky. Embarrassing!

Well, the cynical answer is that it isn’t currently beneficial to players, therefore a low priority.
It’s sad that this sentiment seems so prevalent lately. Let’s hope that the devs prove this to be wrong.

Why wasn't Salt Ray fixed in U56.02?

Nobody filed a bug report?

Probably.

Could be. I don't blame people for not bothering to file bug reports when for years I did and seen so few actually get fixed it felt pointless.

I'm trying out a Druid on Hardcore at the moment, and was wondering why Salt Ray SLA does so little damage compared to my Produce Flame or Call Lightning SLAs. Shrugged it off, thinking it was probably the lower Spell Power on Force type. Now I'm glad that I checked the forums and learned it is bugged...

Is this one of the long-term bugs that haven't been addressed for years, even though they are (?) sort of a "common knowledge" among veteran players? Much like the Augment Summoning disapperaing if your hireling dies? There seems to be a lot of these in DDO, and it's really a shame, because even though the game is pretty complicated in some areas, I would hope the basic functionality of Feats and Skills was higher in the priority list.

Having run druid recently for a human racial life, this is definitely a new bug, seems to have been introduced with u56.

Can we please at least get a confirmation on this bug. This needs to be fixed asap already.

It's a pretty huge penalty to heroic druids right now, especially since both the SLA and regular spell are broken.

Live is bad enough, I can't imagine how bad it would be in hardcore without salt ray (or rather two salt rays).. especially considering hounds (which even if you were level 12+, WoB doesn't work on them.)

Without the SLA, there's a huge hole in the cooldown rotations, and it causes you to waste even more spell points trying to substitute. Druids run out fast enough in heroics.

Nobody filed a bug report?

It was reported 31Aug2022 a couple of times on the #bug-reports and the #u56-discussion channel in the Discord.

So I have to wonder why Salt Ray wasn't fixed in 56.02. Will it be fixed in the next update?

Has it been featured in a YouTuber video yet? If not, then enough attention hasn't been called to it and it'll have to wait till it is.

No, it needs to be in a Strictom hard core video, where he does not get one-shot stun dead by a monster using salt ray.

I suspect the Sound Burst nerf also broke this; since this is using a similar stun (sonic vs force) kill mechanic.

Will this bug get fixed faster if it appears in a Hollywood studio major motion picture?

LOl :D  If that Otyugh was laughing at the druid casting salt ray who is going to appear in the major motion picture "Dungeons and Dragons: Honor among thieves" next year, yeah...

I wonder if you ever thought that maybe the fix wasn't ready for 56.02 and they were trying to get the hotfix out quickly? Nah, couldn't be...

Fixed in 56.1.

Why would you think that? It wasn't listed in known issues. But sure, that's a possibility. The other possibility is that they're unaware of the problem, or don't think it's a big deal. Hence this thread.

Fixed in 56.1.

Like the Precision Lenses fix? Or fixed like Insidious Spores?

Corrected in the next patch would be nice, if it happens.
