I am returning to the game after about a couple of years away. My main character is a 14/3/3 (Sorc/FvS/Pal). After reading through the forums, I am gathering that this build is not the right answer due to changes to Paladin and Shiradi.

Can anyone point me in the right direction for a build with the following considerations:

-Fire Sorc
-Typically 2-man content with my wife
-Prefer to stay bladeforged
-I would like to 2-man endgame content in the mid-reaper range

Thanks in advance.

I am returning to the game after about a couple of years away...
Welcome back!

My main character is a 14/3/3 (Sorc/FvS/Pal)...
... Respect for being able to level that up to 20! :D

After reading through the forums, I am gathering that this build is not the right answer due to changes to Paladin and Shiradi.
And for not being a "pure" Sorcerer. Caster levels, high level spells, capstones 18 & 20 - so many reasons right there.

o What Sorcie 18/20 gets you (https://ddowiki.com/page/Fire_Savant_enhancements#Elemental_Persistence)

-Prefer to stay bladeforged...
Slow down - is this 14/3/3 monstrosity a Bladeforged?

I had hoped to just have you TR/RR - that'd be the real solution to your request.

If BF, how close to 30 and IR are you?

-Fire Sorc
-Prefer to stay bladeforged
Do you have a +X Heart of Wood? B/c if you want a strong Sorcie build, then you want pure. Lose the Pali level, go pure, don't look back. Not mandatory, but by far the strongest build.

Again, are we talking a LR here, to remain 20? Or are you talking starting over from scratch? Am I correct that the Iconic choice implies that you want to start at (at least) 15, to maintain level w/ the wife? (And BF because... self-healing via Repair??? That what the Paladin & FvS were providing?) If so, and just so we know where we stand - what other Iconics do you have access to?

If my assumptions are in the ballpark, let me say this - in the state of the game now, DPS (high damage) is king. You want to be able to kill threats quickly, so they don't have time to bring their hurt down on you. Diluting Sorcerer by 3 levels to get some Pali healing and then another 3 for some FvS healing is a losing plan - you can heal all day long, but if you can't kill your targets quickly and effectively, they're still there pounding on you while you're still "healing". :p You don't build a boat planning on having holes to bail quickly, you build it to take the worst storms and not sink in the first place.

BF/WF are not bad Sorcies, b/c they can take the Repair chain of spells for self-healing. But no Sorcie is the "part healer" (altho' maybe a Halfling w/ their Dragonmark???). But understand that to do either is to cut either DPS or other Survivability features (Eldritch Knight), which is really what is going to keep you alive - by making sure everything else is dead before they know you're there.

-Typically 2-man content with my wife
Are they a trapper? Do you feel you "need" one? (Recommended, but not "mandatory")

What is the other build in this dynamic duo?

-I would like to 2-man endgame content in the mid-reaper range
Wouldn't we all?

It takes more than a good build to do that - gear, Past Lives and player experience are all key additions to that formula.

But a good build is where to start - let's get you that, at least.

Are you dead set on bladforge aasimar should be hands down better for reaper play although there getting nerfed too so who knows

all builds have access to op healing now with primal rejuv, rejuv strike, reborn in fire, then can have ea wings n mass cure mod

so dragonborn would still be the best dps or tiefling for fire immunity stripping

bf totally outdated for reaper play the healing nerfs really hit hard the higher skulls you go

And the body armor feats need a total over haul to even bother with and all classes now can have free evasion with the new ed trees

I'd probably go fire main acid backup for leveling 1-12 that should cover all the immunes sonic blast is getting hammered next so its gone

My build doesn't even mention using sonic blast. It's tankier, so it closes in and uses the higher damage enlarged cone spells and helpless cone CC. Also notice it is iconic, so it bypasses using sonic blast and goes straight into shouts with higher MCL.

Almost as if it was designed that way on purpose, with the intuition that a 4 mana double range fireball no-save no-resist damage spell that also dazes with no cooldown was going to get nerfed. /rolls eyes

The key is to look, really look, at the dps casting of bard, then use that to make a sorc, that conveniently also CC's and tanks and heals, and hey, maybe even trap as well. Sonic blast due to reduced ED scaling, lower MCL, and lower base damage was never a part of iconic+ bard dps casting.

There is a reason this is hiding within bard sonic casting

It's not that easy to nerf that build. It has bard dps casting embedded within it, and they would have to break bard to nerf it. I remember the trees, that's why that build has such a high nerf resistance.
