Greetings! Preview 2 of Update 56 is opening with a first look at the loot from Temple of Elemental Evil, as well as any bug fixes and changes to features based on the last round of Lamannia feedback, today as of 1pm EDT on Tuesday, August 16th! It is expected to remain open into the afternoon (EDT) of Thursday, August 18th.

During this second preview we are offering a first look at the new treasure intended for Temple of Elemental Evil. You can continue to try out the new Archetypes (more info about them in the Producer's Letter by clicking here (https://www.ddo.com/news/ddo-producers-letter-august-2022)) as well as the updated Character Bank. To see the new Temple of Elemental Evil treasure, visit the Test Dojo and speak with The Loot Guy.

Character Bank Update
Character Bank UI has been updated with new functionality and performance improvements! You will begin with the same amount of Character Bank space that you had on your account before the release
LAMANNIA NOTE: Remember that Lamannia doesn't always remember your favor or purchase history from the Live servers and is based on what you've done or purchased on Lamannia. A Character Copy may not be fully sufficient to replicate your Live favor or Store state on Lamannia.
LAMANNIA KNOWN ISSUE: Attempting to purchase the existing DDO Store extra Character Bank space might not function correctly. This will be fixed for an upcoming Lamannia preview.
Bugfixes
Familiars from Feydark Illusionist and Falcons from Falconry now remain active while you are dead
Feydark Illusionist Familiars no longer fall through the world
Feydark Illusionist Familiars no longer spawn twice and then one explodes
Familiars and Falcons no longer block mouse selection
Single Weapon Specialty now correctly applies in all situations.
Fury of the Wild's Destiny Mantle now persists correctly through logout.
The Shadow debuff from Shadowdancer now properly drops 1 stack at a time
Unyielding's Lay on Hands no longer prevents you from using it based on your Charisma score if your Con score is higher
Warchanter's Iced Edges no longer drops on logout.
Nerve Venom in Shiradi no longer has an erroneous DC
Sunblades should now respect two-handed fighting rules more accurately
US' resurrection no longer erroneously requires 20 levels, is now 30 as intended
Tabaxi's Dex to Damage now works correctly in Animal Form.
Weapons without an ability score modifier to damage no longer show a negative base damage rating.
Perfected Darkstorm Helm now has a caster level
The camera has been adjusted such that mouse look will no longer occasionally turn your character 180 degrees and make you look up or down.
Party and Guild chat disconnects should no longer take as long to reconnect.
A large variety of text bugs and inconsistencies have been fixed.
Gameplay Changes
Great Weapon Aptitude (ability found in many racial trees) now allows Natural Fighting as one of its prerequisites instead of just Two Handed Fighting
Khyber Dragonshards no longer drop. Recipes that use Khyber Dragonshards now use Siberys Dragonshards instead.
Eldritch Knight dice now work on Shields
All level versions of the Abishai set is now profane instead of artifact bonus
There are 3 new Gameplay options:
Gather Trap Parts: (default True) while true, disabling traps will cause you to gather Trap Parts from them. Turn this off to stop gathering trap parts from traps you disable.
Experimental Tumble Controls: (default False) while true, pressing Block while moving will cause you to Tumble instead of causing you to Block. If you continue to hold Block, you will end the tumble in the blocking state.
Disable Full Character Effect Overlays: (default False) while true, full character effect overlays on your character will be disabled. Affected visuals:
Stoneskin
Barkskin
Goldskin
Fire Shield (Cold)
Fire Shield (Hot)
There are two new spells:
True Seeing, Mass: Cast True Seeing on yourself and your allies. Clr/Fvs 8
Freedom of Movement, Mass: Cast Freedom of Movement on yourself and your nearby allies. Clr/Fvs/Drd 7
Reaper Crafting's cost has been reduced to 75 Reaper Fragments.
You may now dissolve Reaper items at the second Reaper NPC at any amount of reaper points (note: crafting using these ingredients still requires 50 Reaper points)
Reaper crafting no longer accepts level 1 or 2 items
Warchanter iced edges now scales with spellpower
House J Favor buffs now have a "give me the works" option that charges the total plat you'd get from just clicking them all individually.'
House P Favor buffs now last 60 minutes.
Fred can now combine Dragonshards for you.
Spells that may target undead friends (aka Inflict spells) can now validate the caster as a redirected target (aka be cast targeting the caster implicitly) as long as the caster is undead.
The spells Bless, Prayer, and Bane all now have a cooldown of 10 seconds.
The Winter Hunt buff from Nature's Warrior core 5 now grants +5 Cold Spell Crit Chance and +15% Cold Spell Crit Damage
Aasimar and Scourge core 3 no longer provides a bonus to Healing Hands charges
Aasimar and Scourge core 5 no longer provides a recharge ability to Healing Hands charges, and also now provides +2 healing hands charges
Angel of Vengeance core abilities no longer provide bonuses to caster level and max caster level
Base Attack Bonus is now capped at 25.
Tiefling's Incinerations are now: +2% and +3% Fire Spell Critical Damage.
Holy Smite, Order's Wrath, Chaos Hammer, and Unholy Blight now deal 1d6+4 damage per caster level.
Completionist is now automatically granted upon reaching level 3. Current characters with Completionist have been given a free feat respec token.
Swords to Plowshares now grants Handwraps a +1 Morale bonus to Critical Threat Range
UI Changes
The XP Bar on the character sheet has been removed to facilitate Archetype and Class Displays. If you would like to view your character's total level progress, you may rotate through available XP bars by pressing the XP Bar Toggle at the bottom left hand corner of your screen, next to the & symbol.
HP and SP tooltips on the character sheet now do math correctly

Sacred Fist changes also aren't appearing in game, and I saw someone mention on the Stormsinger thread that T5 Horn of Thunder is still breaking things. It sounds like we're still on the Preview 1 build. My recommendation is to be patient; we'll get a look at that soon. :)

I copied over my Racial and Class Completionist character. I got the feat respec token, but I still don't have the Heroic Completionist feat showing on my character sheet. Also, I unequipped all my items and untrained all my heroic and epic enhancements. I am now showing the following "Feat bonus" to each of my stats:
STR: +3
DEX: +6
CON: +5 <-- This seems weird as Dwarf + Warforged + Racial Completionist should only be +4
INT: +4
WIS: +4
CHA: +6
EDIT: This is still true after the update/reboot.

I agree that healing hands is a bit OP, and takes a core paladin class feature and turns it into an even better racial feature. How about instead of nerfing the uses per rest into the ground, keep the Aasimar cores the same as on live and change healing hands:
Healing Hands: You gain the Lay on Hands feature, that can be used once per rest to heal you for ( 10 + *1/2* Character level ) x Wisdom modifier. If you have Lay on Hands from the paladin class, it now heals for ( 10 + [higher of Paladin level or 1/2 Character level] ) x [higher of Wisdom or Charisma modifier]. If you have Lay on Hands from Unyielding Sentinel, it now heals for ( 10 + Character level ) x [higher of Wisdom or Constitution modifier].
This would still allow people to make extensive use of healing hands without it being OP or outshining paladins, and let items/feats/enhancements/destinies that give extra Lay on Hands uses or let them recharge also work with healing hands.
Alternatively, if you are set on going from 7 total regenerating uses to 4, move 1 of the uses from the lvl 16 core to the lvl 7 core (so 1/1/1 rather than 1/0/2), and still allow them to regen.
Better yet, give decent healing options to everyone so classes without good heals don't need to feel pigeonholed into Aasimar. Maybe have the wand and scroll enhancements add 1/2/3 caster levels, scale 33/67/100% and also apply to potions. And/or add better potions. Something. As is, my casters can easily solo r4-6, while my non-caster, non-Aasimar melees often have trouble 'soloing' r1-4 with a hire, and hope that the hire doesn't do something idiotic (which they do most of the time anyway).

No new bank space yet, the system change is the first step towards it (as the old system was at its limit). So test the heck out of it, so we can get it player proof. ;)

This is nice and all, but as a handwrap monk player, we are feat starved. I cant seem to find a slot for this due to unnecessary feats (looking at you Combat Expertise) I have to take for Whirlwind Attack.
I would suggest the use of Precision in place of Combat Expertise, since when you take Precision, you cannot have both toggled on at the same time, hence a wasted feat.
Please to not take this as "lets make WWA easier to get to, but lets reduce its dps". As a monk handwrap this is the only DPS we have!

The bank tab renaming mechanic is not intuitive. Perhaps when you click the renaming arrow all the text for the name gets highlighted?

The ability isn't OP on standard servers. It only becomes a "balance" issue when playing on Hard Core. Which means its a straight up nerf and the game is changing for a seasonal event. So the only inference that I can extrapolate from this is: They want players to purchase more healing (over time) potions from the DDO store. Hard Core has become their infusion of cash and so finding any and all ways to maximize profits has become the priority.

So, I found a way to really eff up the TR cache.
Steps to reproduce:
Copy character with a TR cache from Sarlona to Lamannia.*
Open bank.
Create new tab in the Reincarnation cache.
Rename new tab to Artifacts.
Move items stored in the TR cache to the TR cache tab named "Artifacts".
Attempt to do a +20 Lesser Reincarnation. Only succeed at trading one level as the Life-Spinner apparently can't handle Stormsinger levels ATM.*
Empty the items listed in the main TR cache, do not check the items in the "artifacts" tab.
Attempt to Iconic TR and get the message that you need to empty your TR cache.
Reopen bank.
Watch the TR cache not appear.
* These steps are included for completeness, and may have nothing to do with the bug.
Attempts to fix:
Logout and back in. No change.
Close the client, and then log back in. No change.
EDIT: Bug is not limited to Artifacts. Any item stored in a tab created in the TR cache will cause the bug. Also, added another attempt to fix note for a people who can't follow instructions.

If you are nerfing tiefling and aasimar, can you at least nerf dragonborn too please? This is my least favorite race aesthetically, but as it stands, it's so far ahead of everything else for elemental based casters and charisma based casters that there's just no justification for not using it.
It's also the (only?) race that doesn't let you wear cosmetic items like helms etc.
Also, if we are bringing the top of the line races down (I don't have an objection to this really except that dragonborn is and has been top of the line for literally years now without any nerfs), I'd appreciate some of the bottom of the barrel races like drow to be brought up please.
Racial diversity is fun both for highlighting different builds, as well as, providing a variety of cosmetic choices.
Lastly, put me as another person, who thinks it's a bad idea to do these nerfs in the middle of a hardcore season - aasimar fvs is a really popular build on hardcore, and you are significantly altering it's playability to such a degree that some people who would have finished their hardcore goals won't. Especially given that a lot of people already completed these goals early on in the season.

Hello.
I don't know if this is a Lammania issue or a preview build issue, but just in case:
After an epic reincarnation my character is missing the Epic completionist bonuses from the DP total calculation. I see the feat in the past life feats list, and it shows three stacks, but in the destiny tree tooltip it says "0" on Destiny points from feats.

So, I found a way to really eff up the TR cache.
It doesn't seem to need any of those steps. It happened to me and all I did is to close the TR cache once. Whenever you open the bank again after the first time the TR cache won't appear. Closing and reopening the client seems to fix it, though. Hopefully it's just a Lammania issue.

Also, do not know if this was addressed anywhere else, but since I have not seen mention of it being a known issue in the preview 2 release notes, here it goes:
I lost 20 bank space from the first Kundarak favor tier after doing an epic reincarnation. The favor still shows in the patrons tab in the adventure compendium, but the space is gone, and it looks like I cannot get it back by talking to the patron either.
EDIT: Hah, that's weird. I just noticed an "upgrade" button floating midway down the items list in the character bank. When I click it I get the space back. I'm guessing it's a portion of the bank interface that has not been updated yet, or just was broken by the ER process.

Is apparently a soup sandwich. With so many poor decisions, someone's working overtime using fire-extinguishers as fast as Amazon can deliver crates of them.
I suggest everyone take a break, maybe 6-months, and see what part of the game is actually functional when you come back. Maybe throw a few IRL dice. )
Here's a design clue from a designer... Archetype = Class Tree that locks out the opposite tree. Period. Don't have to change a thing, only requires three lives to
cap out, instead of making an entirely new HPL and trying to shoehorn 6 of the same class to "finish", removing the NEW hamsterwheel entirely. Merry X-Mas.

I'm guessing you don't work in any sort of troubleshooting role. If you did, you would know that details matter, and I literally put what you described in the "Attempts to fix" section.
Attempts to fix:
Logout and back in. No change.
In the future, try recreating the bug before dismissing a report.

I don't get why the defensive stance. I was just saying that you don't need to reproduce all those steps to reproduce the bug. As long as you close the TR cache, it won't open again unless you close the client and open it again. I'm pretty familiar with troubleshooting, which is why I found pertinent to eliminate unecessary steps from the list. ;)
In the future, try recreating the bug before dismissing a report.
I dismissed nothing - I actually confirmed the bug. Also, I said CLOSING the client and OPENING it again fixes the problem, which it does, and not "logging out and back in", which it doesn't.

The bug you described is the TR cache disappearing. Then you only said logging off and back in didn't fix it (nifty editing there, by the way. ;) ). I had the same thing happen to me (TR cache disappearing), and it also had not come back with just logging out and back in. Only when I closed and opened the client it did fix the issue and the TR cache appeared again.
So based on the information you gave (which you said yourself might contain superfluous steps) and since you had not mentioned at the time that closing and opening the client didn't fix it (whether yout tried it or not), it was reasonable to assume it was the same bug, and therefore could be reproduced with only the one step I mentioned: simply closing the cache once.
No, it does not.
If it really doesn't, then it's a similar but different, possibly related bug. Which is what you could have said once you tried my suggested solution and it didn't fix it, instead of being all snarky.

This is one nerf that is completely unneeded. Honestly, for me, this ability is useless in high reapers, unless I use it on a teammate. Going from 7 to 4 is pretty huge. I would be ok losing 2, but 3 is too much to be honest. I feel like this nerf is to make aasimar less desirable to boost sales on cats and dogs. lol
here is what it should be:
Core 1: +1 HH
Core 2: +1 HH
Core 3: +2 HH (with a recharge every 5 mins (versus 3)

I agree that healing hands is a bit OP, and takes a core paladin class feature and turns it into an even better racial feature. How about instead of nerfing the uses per rest into the ground, keep the Aasimar cores the same as on live and change healing hands:
Healing Hands: You gain the Lay on Hands feature, that can be used once per rest to heal you for ( 10 + *1/2* Character level ) x Wisdom modifier. If you have Lay on Hands from the paladin class, it now heals for ( 10 + [higher of Paladin level or 1/2 Character level] ) x [higher of Wisdom or Charisma modifier]. If you have Lay on Hands from Unyielding Sentinel, it now heals for ( 10 + Character level ) x [higher of Wisdom or Constitution modifier].
This would still allow people to make extensive use of healing hands without it being OP or outshining paladins, and let items/feats/enhancements/destinies that give extra Lay on Hands uses or let them recharge also work with healing hands.
Alternatively, if you are set on going from 7 total regenerating uses to 4, move 1 of the uses from the lvl 16 core to the lvl 7 core (so 1/1/1 rather than 1/0/2), and still allow them to regen.
Better yet, give decent healing options to everyone so classes without good heals don't need to feel pigeonholed into Aasimar. Maybe have the wand and scroll enhancements add 1/2/3 caster levels, scale 33/67/100% and also apply to potions. And/or add better potions. Something. As is, my casters can easily solo r4-6, while my non-caster, non-Aasimar melees often have trouble 'soloing' r1-4 with a hire, and hope that the hire doesn't do something idiotic (which they do most of the time anyway).

I pretty much agree with this. It'd be a great way to rebalance Aasimar while tying its value into both class or destiny ability.

I copied over my Racial and Class Completionist character. I got the feat respec token, but I still don't have the Heroic Completionist feat showing on my character sheet. Also, I unequipped all my items and untrained all my heroic and epic enhancements. I am now showing the following "Feat bonus" to each of my stats:
STR: +3
DEX: +6
CON: +5 <-- This seems weird as Dwarf + Warforged + Racial Completionist should only be +4
INT: +4
WIS: +4
CHA: +6
EDIT: This is still true after the update/reboot.
The Charisma also seems odd, as it should only be +5 for Half Elf, Tiefling, Dragonborn, and Racial Completionist. One or the other could have possibly been an Aasimar Bond. Both might indicate Reaper tree cores, perhaps?

Angel of Vengeance core abilities no longer provide bonuses to caster level and max caster level
How it currently is:
Each core enhancement in this tree grants +1 Caster Level and +2 Max Caster Level with the following spells: Nimbus of Light, Searing Light, Sun Bolt, Cometfall, Divine Punishment, Flame Strike, and Fire Storm.
Why does this nerf need to happen? Nothing in this list is a broken spell/SLA. If the levels are considered too excess then why not drop the bonus down? The more important question is what is being added to offset this nerf? Are you really taking all this away and calling it complete?
The spells Bless, Prayer, and Bane all now have a cooldown of 10 seconds.

Reaper Crafting's cost has been reduced to 75 Reaper Fragments.
I've been running nothing but reaper on my normal server account for roughly three months and this is still unobtainable. Why not drop it to a reasonable number?
Reaper crafting no longer accepts level 1 or 2 items
Dropping the number to 75 doesn't bring balance for the people who were not "exploiting" the system with borderlands.

I would personally like the ability to keep Fire Shield effects but turn off the skin effects. If others have this opinion then maybe that's something they look at.

I think this is to balance the Dark Apostate archetype. All of those spells can now do AOE damage.

This is a great change although I do not see why you still need 50 reaper points just to craft. I imagine the folks that would benefit the most from the this crafting system are those that do not have 50+ reaper points.

How about adding a spelk Jump, Mass? I daresay it will be more helpful on many raids, especially e.g. for medics(and other characters with non-class jump skill), than e.g. True Seeing where those who need it usually have something with TS, and for casters to cast jump separately takes some time and sp. It would be good if this spell(jump, mass) wasn't on too high lvl, so that it would be useful on TS(but the second - Tempest Spine ;) )or VoN5-6. Although I know that on lower levels because of less spells, other spells are more important, but scrolls are even sometimes helpful. Nevertheless, I think it would be a helpful spell.
And as for scrolls - since you've moved the skills from the old ED Tier5 and 6 to spells, I've yet to see a single scroll with those spells, either in chests or on AH/ASAH. I'm thinking of the likes of Arcane Tempest, Celestial Bombarment etc. Either introduce them into the drop or raise the chance of falling out. Because of the newly added spells only Rend the Soul I see often but of those from the old ED none.

I don't know if this is a Lammania issue or a preview build issue, but just in case:
After an epic reincarnation my character is missing the Epic completionist bonuses from the DP total calculation. I see the feat in the past life feats list, and it shows three stacks, but in the destiny tree tooltip it says "0" on Destiny points from feats.

Do you have Bastard Sword Proficiency? Because treating those swords as Bswords has typically required it.

If the graphics are the result of a limited duration spell or effect, I'd like to keep those as losing them in the middle of a dungeon serves as a reminder to re-cast or re-trigger them.

Swapped it in at Fred and it made no difference. No strikethroughs.
I had THF, iTHF, gTHF if it matters, but also 70% strikethough without (20% based, 10% GmoF, 15%+25% Fury)

Could we get the druid form added onto this too please? I know we have the feat but that (and the druid form) have to be toggled on after every death so it's a pain to use. Thanks!

A good change, thank you. Personally I think it would be much better if it cost 50 shards per "5 shard" reaper addition, i.e. +2 stats, reaper armor bonus, etc. and 10 shards per "1 shard" addition, i.e. +3 PRR, +3 Power, etc. That way it would be a 10:1 trade in for both types of addition which is much more achievable and makes the "1 shard" additions a lot more attractive.

Draconic tier 3, Scales of the Dragon, is supposed to provide 15 pts per level in ablative protection but is not counting Legendary levels. It is currently capping at 450 pts on a lvl 32 character, not the 480 is should be.

I see a lot of people complaining about the favored soul being nerfed to much
I think some rebalancing is needed but,
Somehow I think few understand what has happened with it over the years
So let's clear up a few things
The idea likely came from a 3.5 book which badly spliced together the cleric and sorcerer to make a 'sorcerous-cleric' in which the actual result was a cleric with no domains, who couldn't channel divinity, didn't know what they're casting stat was, which off set this with a jump/fly ability and a favored weapon bonus. The original publication required divine lore to cast spells but gave only arcane on leveling, and required the player to buy the divine lore as a non-class skill
This was obviously wrong and wotc published a correction to this last point.
To stress, compared to the books which inspired this, the favored soul's effective spell list is significantly shorter than the cleric's and lacks higher level spells as the cleric would have used domains to fill this out, and lack the turn undead ability and it's derivatives.
The attempts to fix this started by letting them choose a stat (no other caster does this) and adding to their hp and caster levels until they appeared to keep pace with other characters, using only their very limited core to do so.
This undoubtedly made a good base upon which to mount epic destinies and universal enhancement trees.
Then the spell damages were changed, for arcane then divine spells resulting in a double fix making some of their damage too high on those spells creating the op situation today. This is exasperated by the greater development of epic destinies and universal enhancement trees.
None of these 'fixes' address the fundamental wrongness. Nor ever have. It made a twice broken character broken once in concept and again in its 'fix'
I agree with 5e
Favored souls should have their own separate spell list from cleric's adding in the higher level spells they lack, and adding the sorcerous arcane edge like 5e does.
In ddo this should mean they get reduced cool downs and faster cast times like a sorcerer gets
Perhaps warrior type ones should look at the avenger in 4e or simply be dropped and added in elsewhere in the game
And lastly is to remember the cleric is not and never was just a 'divine-wizard'. They're a lot more than that. They were in the original in-between with a lot more happening than just preparing spells with their wisdom, wearing a robe and standing at the back, is why they have a warrior aspect, wear armour as well and a system for deciding which to specialise in. Trying to make a divine sorcerer by copying the sorcerer-wizard relationship was never going to work.
The only way the favored soul will become what people want if it is freed from this bond and allowed to separate it's spell list from the cleric and significantly increase it.

Looks like the designers are just ignoring ppl complaing to this HUGE nerf on Tiefling. And not just ignoring the ppl, ignoring that Incinerations are the main reason to do a Tiefling. Without this this race will be bured.
Some times looks like the designers has they favorit class and races and makes everting to underplowing everthing that was build till today. Or maybe just think that they design are better them the olders designers and just ignore what was did by they

This isn't people asking for it to be forced on everyone. This is people asking for the option to disable it for those of us who don't like it. You can just
keep it turned on if you like the visual effect. Think of it like the options to consolidate guild buffs into a single icon, the option to turn off the renown
message in guild chat, and so on.

Nah, the immunity bypass the tiefling provides is anecdotal at best. The quintessential nuker classes have the bypass in the class itself, and much better than the tiefling, which is point-blank and only lasts a few seconds with considerable cooldown to use it again. That tiefling bypass is actually only really useful to the infernal warlock against enemies that heal with fire (like fire golems), and honestly, it doesn't even help much in this case, because of the sla cooldown. And the warlock needs all the help he can get, poor mistreated and overly nerfed class.
What this nerf is doing is leaving the dragonborn as the only viable race for nukers, since it's currently on par with the tiefling in fire effectiveness (and best for the other energies). But unfortunately the dragonborn has a look and a way of walking that many of us do not like. If the advantages of the dragonborn were given to a more humanoid race, I would change it without hesitation for the current tiefling, although the tiefling has fantastic art, one of the best races aesthetically for my taste. I don't understand these devs, they shouldn't remove options, they should add options like genasi. Removing options only makes people lose interest in the game. I also don't understand the mania of putting all good nuker races tied to charisma. There should be more variety of stats.
The aasimar race will also lose all its appeal with this change. Bad nerf, and unnecessary too.

That could be true if Tiefling striped any immunity. Any fire based caster has his way to strip immune, so, its pointless. Usefull only in heroic, where immunity isnt the problem.
The only good thing in Tiefling right now it to rise critical. If not for that, roll a Dragonborn and rise Max CL and DC.
Atm, the averge DPS of a Tiefling and DB is quite the same, with Tiefling criting more frequentily and DB doing more base dmg. With the nerf, DB will be the top dmg AND DC... sounds like something they will nerf in favor to "balance" the game, that they are just unbalancing now
