Tolero asked what we like about VIP and what we WOULD like to have as a VIP
I am currently a VIP. I reactivated my VIP subscription when I started playing Hard Core season 4 and I have kept it rolling since then
SO, the things I like about VIP now:
the accessing harder than normal difficulty on a first life is important to me but ONLY on hardcore because otherwise I'm going to play my toons that have past lives.
Daily Gold rolls are great and pretty much this is known. thank you for this. is it enough by itself? I don't know.
I really enjoy the game and I find it satisfying to know that I am supporting the game, but this is not the sort of thing I think SSG should rely on
Things that I think are good but not as valuable as they should be:
access to content such as dungeons, classes, races, etc. while this seems like a no-brainer the direction the game is moving recently is actually devaluing this. either give VIP's access to expansions or find some other way to incentivize VIP. I personally, really like the "all quests" code that has been given out for a limited time each year. I would like to see DDO move towards all quests universally available regardless of VIP. I have been playing a long time and have purchased pretty much every content option available. for me this is less important. I LIKE the direction the game is going but if it continues in this direction then VIP either needs to go away or it needs to have some different bennies (which is why we are having this discussion at all, yes, I know)
the 500 monthly store points. I had to look this up to remember it was a thing. I haven't noticed the point injection and I am used to buying points when I want them or ignoring the points if I can't afford to add more so this monthly injection has had no impact on me. if it went away, I don't think I'd miss it.
The Wiki lists that one of the VIP benefits is "7 additional character classes" is this still a thing? a bunch of these were made free to play recently and as with my above about content I like that move but it devalues VIP, so this needs some attention I feel
Things I would like to see VIP get:
As reincarnating is a big part of the game, I feel VIPs could enjoy some small advantage in that regard. I would really enjoy being able to start life out, after a true or iconic reincarnation, at level 5. the first few levels are always my least favorite and feel the worst. starting at level 5 is something I'd pay for even if it was in addition to VIP. level 5 is the perfect starting point I think because you can still do level 1 quests on reaper if you want or you can skip to more interesting stuff. also level 5 is when you get feywild gear which is more interesting and actually worth building a set out of. this would make VIP attractive enough that I would feel like I could recommend it to people. taking a little bit of grind out of the past life experience would be good.
Another thing that is annoying that I would prefer to be fixed for ALL but I'll ask for VIP since it will make VIP more attractive is the ability to travel to more remote places more easily. crossing from Ebberon to Forgotten Realms is cumbersome even if you have the Key to Eveningstar and have done the quests to get you there. also going to and from Barovia could be easier, and more ways to get back to your airship would be great, and free teleport to quest doors through wildernesses without having to first do the quest etc. like 3BC, Stormhorns etc. give us some convenient ways to travel. as little time as possible should be spent trying to get to the things you want to do is a good idea.
these are my big things. there are lots of other good ideas going around
