sad - I do not know what to do anymore
every day i get up come on spend all day on here - then i get up and find my equipment that i went to bed with my character HAD equipped - is GONE and some random garbage is in its place - things i paid weeks of platinum for is now gone - again - this is third day in a row and nobody even helps or cares if one writes to support - they never even answer

top that off with some totally useless junk arriving in the mailbox oh "item you won" - funny a necklace I never even BID on how do i win? what did they take away from me for that?? what in blazes is happening to my game and my account? that is , of course as ever in my 52 years of ADHD autistic life no "help" just "normal" people get ot abuse and steal from me left right and center, abuse me, call me names and make fun of me and there is never anything i can "plan" to be or do as some ^%%$^%$%$#^ comes and CHANGES my life against my will *EVERY DAY OF MY EXISTENCE* then people wonder why I am coming apart at the seams.... why does everything and everyone hate me

OP, I would agree with this quoted post here.

1. The only way your character could have different equipment is:
A. You have the same character on a different server and got muddled and logged onto that by mistake. However, this sounds unlikely at this time.
B. A server rollback and your character got rolled back to an earlier state. This however is unlikely, given a server rollback is often noticed by many and we have not heard of such a thing happening the last day or two.
C. You have been using exploits in game and SSG had found you out and rolled your character back to an earlier state. In most cases players won't admit to using exploits even if they did, so this one we will just have to assume you didn't do. (Note, we're not saying you did exploit either, just that most players won't admit to it and this is one such criteria for such an event to occur, so just pointing out a fact, not accusing that you OP did exploit).
D. Your account has been compromised; someone is trolling you. They have your user name and password and logging on and removing your gear and replacing it with other stuff. This can happen if you have your account and password written down somewhere where someone can access it easily; like on the Desktop or on a sticky that's stuck to your desk, etc.

2. Since you're unlikely to have run into A or B, and C is unlikely too given how busy SSG are often these days, most likely it would be D as the outcome. Somehow, your account details have been compromised, and someone is messing with you. It won't be SSG or SSG employees, so it will be someone around you, or your system has spyware on it and someone is remotely messing with you.

3. If you can use a different computer, or mobile and access your account. Change your password that way. This helps prevent the possibility of your gaming machine from being the leak. Subsequently if your machine WAS the leak, they could get the password that way. So if it happens again, you'll know it's your machine that's leaking info. In which case, you'll need to get help to get that sorted/cleaned out. If it doesn't happen again, then it's likely someone around you who could access the details of your account and password.

4. To be on the safe side. Check your email to see if it's been part of any leak online here:

If this is removed, then look up "data breach checker" on google or another search engine. If it's been compromised, make sure all accounts associated are reset and protected with new passwords. Hopefully that should solve your issue.

Ghost in the Shell is a good anime, most likely there is a living operator somewhere who is controlling things.
In real life you'll have a hard time finding out who that is.
Sad thing is, it most often is the reflection that looks back to you in the mirror.
Or someone who can look into that same mirror.

My advice for the OP, besides changing your password as described by others, make a screenshot of your character's inventory just before log out.
Store it on your google drive.

Make sure you use the 64bit client as that one is harder to break.

You might have more than one person using your account. Got kids?

I have never heard of this happening to anyone before.

As other people ask, does someone else have access to your account?

If no, change your password immedeately.

Do you lock the items you want to keep in your inventory?

If you do not lock items you can sell things by accident.

At the time there was some disruption apparently going on, I don't remember what exactly but the next time I logged in everything was fine. I'd search for when exactly that happened to me but I think it was before or during the first forum change when we had separate logins to game and forum. I'd like to know more from the OP. Did changing their password help? Did they check that they were logging in to the right server?

I had this happen with unbound named items that could fetch a price on a third party market.
It's been ages yes, since I last ran into this. I think my Planar Gird was among the items that went missing.

I do got to say that I hardly keep track of items now a days so it might have happened recently as well.

Oh, and besides selling them you could also accidently feed it to a sentient gem.

To be thorough you also should have included:
E. You suffer from multiple personality disorder. Sure, BrunoM did not swap and sell equipment but BrunoA, B, or C may have. Talk to your therapist to see if they can help. I put this even less likely than A but more likely than B. *
