View Full Version : What good is Augment Summoning on Epic Roderic's Wand?

It only applies while the wand is equipped. You can't really do anything else with Roderic's Wand. So if you want your summoned pet to remain Augmented, you have to forego your own attacks?

hound.
That does not seem to answer my question. I have no complains about what the wand summons; only about the seemingly unusable Augment Summon feat.

Aren't Hirelings and summons snapshotted with the augment summon effect when summoned?

hound.

Oh, I think Hobgoblin is referring to the "Hound of Xoriat" raid, where indeed it would be useful to have the wand equipped while charming the puppies.

That's what I thought as well. It seems like it would be extremely cumbersome for the game to keep track of whether or not you currently had any number of augment summoning abilities on at any given time instead of just bringing the summon in with whatever you had going on at that one instance. Also, magnify that by all summons from all players. If they are actually handling it the way OP says, that's probably a big source of lag right there.

I agree, this definitely seems like what they meant. There wouldn't really be a need to swap out the wand if you were just charming the puppies.

I was just trying to find info on it, in the Wiki, but there's NOTHING.
I even went directly to the page for The Snitch and looked at the "Named Loot" section.
It's just not there. :(

Someone please tell me that I somehow missed it. Or maybe it still drops but it's just not listed.
I've been thinking that it'd be cool to have it for my high UMD rogues, instead of a heavy stack of scrolls. I do find that even a low-level summon can draw enough agro from the monsters to allow me to get back shot. And I'd much rather have the wand than either of the not-so-conveniently-recharging staves that appear to be my only other alternatives to scrolls.

I'm genuinely looking for information here. Please kindly resist the urge to make "smart a" comments.

I'm 90% sure that's how it works. Well worth carrying around for when you summon a permanent pet at the beginning of a session. Of course now I want to test it because I'm not sure.

If you're going to that level of min-maxing, though, better to just carry a L20 Sentient weapon with an Orange or Green slot, so you can slot a Topaz of Aug Summons and 3-piece Cry of Battle

If you really want augmented summoning on your character permanently spend time running feywild rares in the wilderness area. They drop like crazy and then juts slot one on to your gear and go almost anywhere as they are a topaz.
