View Full Version : Mysterious Remnant decay rate faster?

Running House of Rusted Swords yesterday, I finally saw what I suspected to be the case.

The duration of Mysterious Remnants is shorter.
I finished the fight with the BBEG and went to pick up the remnant dropped by one of champs I killed not a minute before and the remnant faded away. All the other remnants in the room were gone when I made a sweep to grab them as well.

I thought the remnants were supposed to last five minutes? (I can't find a definitive statement but I think I recall five minutes being the new normal)
Was this an April Fools joke? (If so, bravo!)
Was the duration further reduced to fight lag and nothing stated?

A quick video test just now, suggests that on Elite, the Remnants last for 2 minutes 30 seconds roughly before dissapearing. So the fight might have dragged a bit longer than you realised and thus the remnants despawned.

As far as I remember remnants where supposed to last 3 minutes.

I just went and re-watched the video checking timings properly, but yes, it's 3 minutes there too, so it hasn't really changed then. My bad on reporting 2 min 30s just then. :)

So if it really despawned in 60s when Jerevth went for them, then the fight needed to have taken 2 minutes odd then, something which can easily fly by and be missed in the heart of battle.

It could have, but I wonder... Try running it on Reaper 1 and see if it de-spawns sooner? (I don't have video recording capability set up and I'm at work; this is my "smoke break".)
I might have guessed incorrectly how long I was in the fight but it was my Barb toon running the quest and he doesn't typically take long to kill a red name on R1, even running at level. Taking a minute to beat down a boss seems extreme but two minutes? I'll rerun later with a stopwatch prepared but I can't see it taking two minutes.

Checked just now in R1, same. 3 minutes for it to expire after first dropping to the ground.

Thanks, J1ng.

I'll check for myself, too, but I now suspect it's the internal clock that needs calibration; the faulty component is located between the monitor and the seat-back.

I hear when Vooduspyce becomes ddo president they will auto gather. No more hunting in body piles and jumping around like a jackass trying to find them in the air!

IRC, they intentionally don't autogather like 12 fragments to prevent people bringing alts who just stand at the entrance to gain them; at least, that's the reason for the 3 min timeout.

I'd be happy if just running over/touching them was enough to place them in your bag - like the festival coins. Then we wouldn't need to press VERY precisely (or select them with q or backspace) to pick them up.

I agree with all that. But considering the list of things that work poorly, I would not want to see them prioritize this if it more than a "10 minute" fix.

This kind of change would at least be nice. or have then auto gather into inventory when you area at least near them.
