So, i'm an old timer that has been playing casually since the original launch. I have been playing 99% solo for a long time now and as such I do very little grinding for gear. I have recently, however, come into possession of two "nearly finished" rings from the sharn syndicate part 2.

Do I now have to flag for and enter the cannith raid to upgrade these items or can I do it somewhere else?

And extra ingredients can be obtained by turning in the arc rewards.

You can craft some pretty awesome stuff onto Sharn gear, that being said, it's suuuuuuuper annoying lol. There's like...3 tiers of ingredients and the higher up ones use lower level stuff, so you have to make mats to make mats.

The first time or two is like that. I've gotten into the habit of just looking up what I need at the finishing station, memorizing the ingredients then going to the other station to crank them out. There are certain patterns that the parts are used in which helps speed things up, such as the powder looking material will always require the can looking material and it will always be of the same type can required separately in the recipe, so you just make two of that type of can automatically.

Yeah I dont understand the point in making us jump through the hoops of multi-level crafting. Especially when you only ever get the base tier items to drop normally, so the higher tiers are pretty much exclusively obtained through the same crafting system

So like just convert the second and third tiers to their base components, and just charge that for the upgrade

I 2nd this idea. The whole crafting 1 item to make another item to make another item is kinda pointless. Just take the required amount of the tier 1 ingredients for the finished product.

We have similar circumstances as old timers soloing. We should team up sometime. I'm on orien. Where is your main?

I think they did this to make you feel like you were building something, but they failed there. The only time any MMO made crafting feel like crafting was Vanguard waaay back. It actually had a mini-game that took minor skill to play. Only maybe 3:10 crafters were good enough to make A+ (top rated) gear.

It was both kinda fun and a bit annoying unless you wanted to play as a 100% pure crafter, which it also supported. Entire groups of crafters could band together to make a house or a ship, for instance.

That game had tons of highly creative ideas that were all destroyed by developer personality issues: major corruption problems as well as some real idiot-mode design decisions based on not understanding "Moore's Law".

This one bears repeating. The COGS saga reward always contains a choice of T3 (final) ingredients. Even on a brand new server with no stocked mats, you can quickly finish out a sharn item by dashing through cogs saga and choosing the most costly (mat-wise costly) final parts you need.

It's annoying but also only takes 5 min. I'd much rather get xp/renown for the saga.
