View Full Version : This title is hard to read when posting

When posting a new thread the title field turns very dark when typing in the title and it is actually hard to see - atleast for me - what you are actually typing.

Then when you select this section it turns brighter and it is easier to read.

Anybody else noticed this or is it just me?

This is a true statement for me as well. It would be nice if that was changed a bit.

Yes. Please fix this.

It will probably go into the queue right under "Fix ladders".

I am sorry to say that I think this issue gets fixed when we get new forums entirely. Thankfully, that is currently hoped to happen later this year.

Yay..so long as these new forums don't require your life story and a blood sample in order to validate who you are. Too much stuff like that nowadays. I still regret going onto a japanese nose fetish site back in 2005 by mistake as I still get spam on the back of that now!!

The likely way it will happen is we will start fresh with completely new forums. However, the existing forums will remain read-only so people can re-populate as needed.

Yes please don't require TFA or exorbitant password requirements. I'm tired of security systems that are far worse than a little insecurity.

Will we retain our unique Forum name? Icon? Titles?

I wouldn't be surprised if someone tried to snag several of the better known forum names to cause hate and discontent.
Maybe a prior log-in through the old forum to establish the new account and transfer the name?

So I have a ton of bookmarked pages, will these be gone at some point?

According to his LOTRO stream a week or so ago, everything starts fresh. New name, post-count 0, etc. Now whether he can field requests to re-label our titles & such, unknown - or if the new thing even has that function.

He did explain that the new thing would be the same as other Daybreak games use, so any of those game forums would be an example of what is to come.

Sort of in that it wouldn't surprise me if the URL changed, but we'll see. The content itself will be retained.

True! This is probably hitting LOTRO first so we'll see how things go. It is true that we'll probably have a period of time where people have to grab their names again and start fresh; my plan is to deal with name sniping on a case by case basis but with a general guidance of "don't take someone else's name" and a default position of helping people get their old forum names again.

What about the custom avatars?

My current plan is that people can just grab the avatars from the old forums then use them for the new. At least as it stands now my plan is to give users full control over their avatars, titles, and signatures.

does that mean that in the new forum system we are able to upload images for our own custom avatars?

Ah yes, forums from the "lets just use one third of the screen because why would people want to make full use of their widescreen monitors? They should only be browsing the internet on their phones anyway!" school of design. Always a pleasure to see.

Everything will be gone and start afresh. I am wondering how Cordo will handle name sniping, I mean Aelonwy is not trademarked or patented, so how can he block me from using that in the new forums, without getting into a lawsuit?

He answered already in this thread:

No lawsuit necessary. Don't take someone else's forum handle, with potential to ruin someone's reputation in and out of game.
