That happens if someone in party stays up the top, be assured he will still kill you if you get it wrong :)

so that's what happened yeah, there was someone far far behind. 10+ years of playing and i see this for the first time. i love these little details. i learned something today.

so that's maybe what happened to the sleepy Arden too?
