At what point do people say screw it and re log? How much time should you give it?
Such an annoying bug.

I press enter & then type "/logout"+enter which will make the splashscreen disappear so I can see my chat windows. Looks to see if there's a "recovering from failed teleport" error or not; if not I wait, if there is, I quit & log back in as that is the only fix.

I usually give it something between 1-3 minutes, depending on my pacience.
If nothing works at all, then I know that I had been logging through toons too much.

I wait no more than 10 seconds when zoning and then restart.
I experimented and found that if I had too many devices on a single wifi the teleport fails more often. Splitting them between 2.5 and 5 ghz helped immensely. I very rarely get a frozen teleport now.
So my conclusion is that the problem is on my end but also that DDO is not very tolerant of congested or poor network connections.

i wait at most what feels like a minute, then leave the game and go play something else. at some point things like this just get annoyingly old really fast.

Once I suspect the load has hung up, I make a kitchen run.
If it's still tied up when I get back, it's Alt+F4 time. After that, it depends on my mood if I mess with it any more or just go watch TV.
"Annoying" is a huge under-statement.

OneLauncher helps with making the re-log faster.
I had huge problems with hung zoning, so I switched to my iPhone hotspot just to troubleshoot. The issue went away instantly.
Now, I have spread out my devices amongst my wi-fi channels (2.5/5) and things seem better. I just think DDO is very bad at tolerating poor/congested connections.
At any rate, in my experience if you aren't zoned in 5-10 seconds it ain't happening.

Memorize and use this. There will be a test...
