1- What is that ominous horn sound that we hear in every public zone now? It makes me think there's an apocalyptic countdown going down.
2- Why can't a 23rd level rogue hirebot find a trapbox on EH and past unless the player has the equivalent of 3 druid past lives and a GH to cast?
3- Why didn't anyone tell me in my 14 years on the scene that DDO was a completely different game when you have a really good computer and a large fn screen?
4- Why doesn't DDO have clothing merch and such? Or anything of actual physical substance that I can touch?
5- I don't want to ask too much so this is my last question. Have you ever heard Axel play Malicia's Finale Guitar Cover session?

3 - It is true. I have a 2k monitor and since I have come back the game looks so much better. Also they revamped the sounds, so hear so many more effects/noises in the game now. Feels more...alive.

When I run multiple accounts, my Epic Bard causes all other characters to hear that sound and lag every time they approach her. I have not yet identified the exact skill involved, but it appears to come from the Fatesinger tree. Therefore, wherever you pass near a character in Fatesinger, you will hear that sound.
2- Why can't a 23rd level rogue hirebot find a trapbox on EH and past unless the player has the equivalent of 3 druid past lives and a GH to cast?
Rogue hires were created over 10 years ago, trap difficulty checks have waxed up and down since then, and no developer has gone back to adjust Rogue hire equipment.
3- Why didn't anyone tell me in my 14 years on the scene that DDO was a completely different game when you have a really good computer and a large fn screen?
We all make fun of you behind your back.

Standing Stone Games would need to seek approval and pay a licensing fee to sell Dungeons & Dragons themed products. They could sell Standing Stone Games themed products, but <here Vexa wrote something that would get me into a lot of trouble>.
5- I don't want to ask too much so this is my last question. Have you ever heard Axel play Malicia's Finale Guitar Cover session?
One time, at band camp.

One of those hires is a TA and notoriously bad at traps, the one lower level is better at traps.

The bard "horn of thunder" sound I believe comes from the Fatesinger Mantle.

bards are just shotting out tunes left and right now. Every half sec, tone tone tone, xylophone, music all the time. :) Not that there's anything wrong with that. Bards are in a very good place right now. But when you're used to hack and slash, the whoosh and crunch... And you start hearing E flat, D minor... Well, a big grunt like me is bewildered and we're on the same side even!

1. Horn of Thunder?
2. Devs created hirelings to suck at their respective jobs.
players have gears and buffs, past lives and all the other perks....
Hirelings are basic first life template builds with poor self harm avoidance programming.. They stand or walk into AOE damage, trappers walk in traps to disable them, face the wrong way, etc..
Passive mode hirelings still move between you and the mobs you are fighting, Hirelings will often move into harm even when the flag is planted. will choose unsafe pathing or move into unexplored area's inexplicably.
Hireling AI didn't get the same Dev attention as Mob AI, Mobs move out of harmful aoe effects, they spam spells, buffs, attacks all in a superior way.. Hirelings not so much..
3. if you had to have it explained to you.....
4. It is surprising that no Dev attention was spent here.
The whole fashion side of things is lacking.. custom cosmetics wasn't developed in DDO but was in LOTRO. in DDO the cosmetics are one off builds.
It has been periodically brought up over the years and the Dev responses left the impression they have no interested in reworking the game to be able to do this.
I can only guess they felt the resource investment would not drive any positive revenues so they skipped over it.
5. I have now...

1. Horn of Thunder.
No. That's not bards. What? Am I the only one hearing this repetitive loud horn sound like something straight out of the book of revelations?
I hear it within seconds of entering a public area and in quests too. There's no bards around when I'm soloing.

Something on your toon like an epic destiny stance activating when you zone.

The level 24 rogue can find traps on low level epic reapers with 3 druid past lifes + bard buffs (which includes gh). In spies in the house, he couldn't find traps without bard buffs. And of course he must be using sink like a brick boots because he couldn't get the trap at the top of the water - he just sinks to the bottom.

I can now confirm that the Fatesinger Epic Destiny Mantle, when active, is a source of doom music for everyone nearby. Thank you to krimsonrane for bringing up the doom music issue because now I know to keep that mantle turned off.
.....
Perhaps Lynnabel could look at Epic Rogue Hire equipment and give it an upgrade? Would that take a lot of time?

Can also confirm it is epic bards. I multiboxed one in a private instance and moved around. Everytime my bard moved in range (or my non-bards moved close enough) the low blaring horn sound played. The distance is VERY LARGE! and does not care about obstacles, and depending on settings could be farther than you can see. In wynwood hall (feywild) the range is from the sleeping lrod arden to the large square pattern of tiles closest to he entrance of that zone.
It does seem to be tied to the mantle from Fatesinger, as when it's off I don't hear it on my non-bard. The moment I turn it back on when in range, it sounds again immediately.

That ... I'd rather call it a "humming" ... is slowly going on my nerves now ... It was the worst when the Destinies Update was new ... everywhere ... everywhere , then ...

Im not hearing "apocolyptic", "low", "humming", or "doom", but I am hearing a really loud ships horn like one from an ore freighter even when Im not near anyone else. Its irritating and doesnt fit the setting.

This is kinda what I hear. But just one horn blows and then doesn't blow again until I go to a new area.

There could be multiple things at work but I can write with certainty that Bards in the Fatesinger Mantle are at least one of the causes. You are on Khyber, right? If you like, send me a private message with a day and time and we can meet up and test. Science!

4- Why doesn't DDO have clothing merch and such? Or anything of actual physical substance that I can touch?
Because they have no license to produce anything physical, and they have no proven ability to produce anything physical to justify them getting the license.
If DDO was actually popular (like some other major game IPs), the more likely scenario is someone who already is in the physical goods business approaches the licensor offering to make products (or the licensor approaches them directly). It's what I and others have done with other IP in the past. There's just no value in doing it for DDO considering a it's a game by a third party, and one would have to get both DnD and SSG approvals and terms in order to get anything made.
Not remotely worth it when you could just get the DnD license alone (which a friend just did) and the market segment is way bigger.
You want a shirt of DDO, take a screenshot and do a DTG print on your own at one of the many places that allow it.

I'm on Orien. I'll have to try and capture it on video.
