As the season of Festivult unfolds, it is important to remember those less fortunate than ourselves. All over Thelanis, and the other DDO servers, from the Harbor to the Saltmarshes, characters are suffering. That's right, suffering. These characters reincarnated and realized they had lost something during the process. Their skills and abilities were diminished. Yes, these characters suffer from tomelessness! How did this happen? Has the evil lich Vecna returned to the realms of the living? Who knows? These characters need help though, and they need it now! We need Standing Stones help! There are DDO support and SSG support tickets queued, in need of an empathetic and caring person to reach out and adopt these poor souls. Your swift attention, to those who face tomelessness, will bring joy to the realms once again, and empower these poor, weakened adventurers with all they need to sustain the fight against the many evils they must face!

Please, help the growing population of tomeless adventurers right away! The life you save, may be theirs!

Join the line and it´s huge. In may I had lost 6 friends for this bug and all I asked them when I had an alike bug (lost all EDs and bridges) and asked for:

- My vip days, xp and slayer pots from the time I had to level it all again back - And they ignored me until this day. Asked dozens at time in Cordovan´s live for any help and didn´t got any.

- A protocol so they could solve this bug faster without the player need to stay online at gm hours for weeks without any answer. So they could use email, facebook, whatsapp or any modern resource to help the comunication.

Also lost at least more 4 players since may for this bug and I am don´t know a lot of DDO players. So far I got no answer. A gm needs close to 20 minutes to fix this bug, Cordovan could grab a GM and make a 3 hour live fixing all the players toon. When I had a GM´s name to send a tell and ask for help for my friend the GM disconects right after the message so I gave up. Friend is not even vip anymore and couldn´t believe in the lack of support. Since his bug DDO had 2 updates and one hardcore season.

This bug is not new but somehow got worse with update 51. The one with over 200 bugs that we begged for them to postpone the release because we are not beta testers.

Now all we can do is wait. Merry Christmas and a happy new year. Hope you have the patience that my buddies didn´t had.

With the wave of new players (from the recent free content offers), I have to wonder how many of these are a 1st or 2nd TR's, vs. how many are veterans who suddenly, inexplicably, lose their tomes after a TR that is identical to all the other successful TR's they've done.

It's been said before, but there are some steps that seem to avoid this epidemic. , Admittedly some are "work arounds", and perhaps some are superstitions, but if it works, what do you care?

And the main one is... BE PATIENT, DO NOT RUSH.

The #1 killer of Tomes is the dreaded "Epic Reincarnation straight into Heroic Reincarnation" mistake. Almost guaranteed to lose something. :p

The game seems to need a bit of help to fully and reliably "remember" all your character's data, to copy/paste everything into the servers properly. If there's a single moment of lag, if there's any hiccup, it might not all have been written when you delete your character to rebuild it. So, it seems you have to give it that time, and force it to properly copy all the info before you proceed.

So, if you are smart, you'll follow these steps... (and some are copy/pasted from other, similar advice. Thx all!)

Before Reincarnation: PLAN AHEAD:

1) Have a written plan, easy to read(!), for your next character build! On a piece of paper, on a character planner, somewhere that you can reference as you build. You do not want to take longer than you have to, so you avoid any real lag problems while your character is "in limbo".

(Having "a written blueprint", something planned all the way to 20/30, is highly recommended anyway, too easy to fake your way into a big mistake.)

2) Plan to avoid Server resets and other RL distractions! You do NOT want the game to come down while you're Reincarnating, you do not want to be called away while Reincarnating!

Don't leave characters tagged for reincarnation (with the "Reincarnate" button in the character selection screen) in this state for longer than necessary. Especially through server resets. Get in, get out, get done. (thx M!)

3) Get your Heart (of Wood, of Blood, whatever) ahead of time, so you can continue when the portents are good. Export your "Friends" list. There's a bug that loses your notes - the names will all be there, but any comments will be lost.

4) Do NOT start the reincarnation if the game is laggy! Jump around for a moment - if you hang in the air, this is not the time. If you see others rubber-banding around you, this is not the time. If you get the message "You must wait before interacting with the Bank" - this is not the time. Give the game 10 minutes and come back. PATIENCE.

(If this means you don't reincarnate in the middle of Saturday afternoon, accept it! This is part of "planning ahead".)

Now, show time...

1) Apply the Heart to your character, and leave the Grove. (Again, maybe superstition, but it forces the game to rewrite your character after changing instances - so it's now written "somewhere" correctly.)

2) Log that character out, log in with another. This forces the game to fully write the reincarnating character, and any hiccup should be with a secondary one (which is already in memory "as is", so no loss there).

Then CLOSE THE CLIENT / QUIT THE GAME. Close the loader, 100%. This seems to "force" the game to write everything for next time, same as any other time to call it quits for a night.

3) NOW COMES THE REAL "PATIENCE" PART! Go do something else for 5 minutes (or more)! Read the Wiki, get a drink, go over your new character plan (again), bio time - something, anything, to make sure you give the game MORE than enough time to get everything written and right. Not TOO much time - you want to get this done without a server issue.

4) After that time, get your plan, and open the Client (the one you closed). Log into the game, hit "reincarnate" on your character, type their name in, and go about your business quickly and efficiently. Take the time to get it right, but don't stop in the middle to make lunch or check the score. (Again, part of "planning ahead".)

Doubly important for 15-level Iconic builds - you do not want to be in Limbo any longer than necessary.

4b) If this is an Epic to Heroic double-reincarnation, repeat the process between Hearts - do your ER, apply the 2nd Heart, log in to a new character, close the client again, wait 5, reopen.

Afterwards...

1) Now, here is another VERY IMPORTANT PART - MORE PATIENCE! When you first log in your newly built character - WAIT FOR THE GAME TO LOAD 100% before doing ANYTHING ELSE. Don't move, don't open your Inventory, nothing character-related. 100%, no question. Use [o] to see the "Who" and/or "Grouping" page load up - that's a good indicator that won't affect your character.

For any True Reincarnation (to a new build), while you are standing on the Shipwreck Shore, don't do anything until you see the message "x items have been moved to your reincarnation cache" (general chat channel iirc).

2) Now, before doing anything else, check your Tomes ([c]haracter sheet -> Feats -> Past lives/etc.) If they're not there, don't panic (yet), log out and log back in a couple times. Your character was written properly, maybe there was just some lag as you were entering the game.

Last) Not part of the avoidance, but remember to Import your "Friends" list, and enjoy.

And Good Luck, and haff fun stomin da cassul!

This does not guarantee anything. The TR safety dance is nice but I have done it before and lost tomes, epic destinies etc. The difference is that previously there was some customer service that dealt with the problem in a somewhat timely fashion (if you were online for hours not to get you ticket closed) I actually never thought I would miss the days of poor cs now that we have pretty much no cs for the big things.

JThe one with over 200 bugs that we begged for them to postpone the release because we are not beta testers.Oh, I have some very sad news for you...

Actually it's far worse than that. SSG should be bending over backwards thanking their lucky stars such a motivated section of the playerbase is willing to do all the testing and bug reporting, all the testers asked was not to be charged platinum while they did absentee QA's job.

Folks donated their time and SSG charged them anyway. In the world of DDO, you get to pay to be a beta tester.

Welcome to the club. Lost the supreme +8 and all skill tomes on my sorcerer about two months ago after TRing and haven't received any responses at all. Considering the earnings DDO brings to SSG there's really no excuse for such terrible customer service.

Now, show time...

0) Make sure you have enough room in your inventory to hold the items that you are wearing on your character, its a real scare getting stuff out of the invisible inventory overflow when doing an Epic TR.
1) Apply the Heart to your character, <WAIT FOR THE MESSAGE TO APPEAR BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING> and leave the Grove.

<This message sometimes appears early, open your inventory to check if its empty. If not, wait for the last items being moved to your tr-cache. You can actually see them disappear from time to time. Don't panic about this. In any case do not interact with anything in your inventory and do not talk to Jeets just yet. Just take the insults from him for now.>

Besides the friends list I always do a "/ui layout load xxx". I saved that xxx file at one point in time.

Dude is just blaming the victims for the crimes they suffered. So all the friends and guildies that got out of DDO because of this bug should be blamed? makes no diference when DDO is paying their bills. Only me, only over one year, lost over 12 people FOR SURE not because of this bug. But because the lack of support they didn´t received after this bug.

So two mistakes doesn´t makes one right.

First mistake is the bug without any corrections for years without ever creating a faster way to comunicate with the players. Players with money have to work and can´t be online 8 hours a day waiting for a gm.

Other mistake is not fixing players toons after the bug happened. Players paid for the tomes. Pay for vip. Pay for expansions. And what does the player receive ? GMs that disconnect after receiving a /tell. Community manager with a GM could fix ALL toons in 3 hours or less over a live.

How much money this bug costed to SSG? Who is to blame? Anyone got fired for this? anyone got fired for an early launch that flooded DDO with 200 bugs? anyone got fired for choosing to leave DDO without support? Sorry but blaming the players will not solve any of these issues or give back the trust that the players need to spend time and money on this game.

And none of this is my problem. My problem should be reading about equips to have fun playing DDO, not spending my free time begging for a solution that would make DDO more profitable than it already is.

Same ****.. More than a month ago opened a bunch of tickets gor losing supreme tomes.. No response so far on any of my tickets.
Funny thing is that also had ingame tickets ,and once they "upgraded" the help menu-those tickets just got deleted... Total spit in the face!

I really don't undestand why ssg keep this radio silence about this issue... Obviously many people have this problem after the ed update and I saw zero messeges from ssg staff adressing the problem.

This issue has plagued TRs for a decade.. been on and off the fix list for just as long .. must be at the end of a long [expletive ] list.

I assume its low priority as the bug doesn't benefit players.

Who knows if we even have GM's anymore... no one seems to be quick to even respond to player tickets let alone responding to players with broken toons.
