I'm trying to make a ML 8 Shard (56% chance) and I have failed 12 times in a row.
That seems incredibly improbable, barring something being broken.

That will happen about once in 20,000 times so it certain is possible and given the large number of players something similar may have happened once before (12 failures in a row with about a 50% chance for success) in the last 15 years.

Talk to Felix d'Cannith for a free mini quest with 25% crafting boosts (BTA) as an end reward.

In my experience leveling 8 crafters to 300 or higher, what you describe happens on a regular basis. Resetting the machine after a failure seems to help. (Close the crafting window then open it and try again.)

When updated Cannith Crafting was released, we used to joke about this problem all the time. Gosh golly, there is a one in a quadrillion chance that this would happen to all of us. We sure must be unlucky. I forget who first suggested closing the window after a failure. That was late 2016.

Good luck!

The percentage listed for CC has always been a rather bad cosmic joke if it was anything less than 100%. I've had 4 failures in a row on a 97% item. My personal record for failing a 50% chance attempt is 19 in a row. I always assume that anything less than 100% chance will take a minimum of 3 tries before it will succeed.

It's just one of a larger trend of examples in DDO of RNG not really being R...

I have found that (it would seem to me) there are times when the random number generator/function
hangs on 1 result. Might just be my imagination. But it seems to happen when it
is laggy.

So as a matter of course, when I get a failure, I always wait a few seconds before I try again.

also my experience when i was levelling crafting.

i noticed that closing the window and restarting the process acted as a c-c-c-combo breaker!

i am convinced that this game, and also other players are sometimes talking about this, it snapshot stats or rolls and keep on using them. the case of crafting success % is imho a blatantly obvious example. like failing x times in a row that 95% success raise dead\resurrection scroll. switch back to weapon and switch back again to scroll. reset and restart.
