Here's new bright idea: make those Combat Trances as passives.
Pros:
1. Less lag.
2. No swap micro.
3. Less lag.
4. Less actives to keep up.
5. Less lag.
Cons:
None.
Thanks.

Cons: nerf to anyone swapping items for more stats.
If you're swapping on Acolyte's Lenses for KtA (basic one-item swap) you're losing +5 damage & tactics by making it passive, or just losing your goggle slot. There's people running sentient weapon + artifact + augment bonus swaps to optimize trances lol.
IMO a more realistic request would be for longer duration at higher cost.

While most trances are essentially negligible-cost for most builds...the SP ones are more limited for no-SP classes like rogue or fighter. Then you have the charge based ones in falcon and hw that you have to actively manage. You couldn't simply make them passive because that changes their opportunity cost
I usually suggest a pseudo-meta, "sustain" or something, that's free at L1 and lets you apply it to any magical or mundane buff, to have it auto renew at its normal cost (sp, charge, etc) when it expires. Renew, not recast, so it just extends the timer without changing the values and doesn't interrupt your actions.
I'd also like to see a new active feat, "prepare" or something, that lets you assign any magical or mundane buff to its list, and when you activate the feat, it's a 2s induction bar, then you cast all those spells and activate those effects simultaneously on yourself, at their normal cost, including meta magics applied at their global setting, or possibly customizable individually
In other words, one button buffing at the start of the quest or after rez, then you're good to go till you run out of resource
I think anything that reduces button usage, particularly "main buttons" for combat actions, is a big qol priority. Timer babysitting and buff micro is neither fun nor skillful

There's some pros in these cons: extra Sentient exp, Threads, Vessels and Runes that you can spend elsewhere, less swaps AND!
Less lag.
