Epic Sentient Greatclub & Longbow

Hi guys,

My wife and I are about to TR our characters. My wife wants to play a great club fighter and I was going to do a AA paralyzer. We usually run low reaper and are not super hardcore players. I was wondering if there were any recommendations for a low epic great club or longbow that takes sentience and we could use them pretty much up to 30. We don't do raids I do however have access to Pinion from one of those celebration boxes that I never opened. There are very few choices with the great club. I was looking at the longbows and thought the Epic Thornlord or perhaps one of the fully upgrade Cannith challenges seemed reasonable as I don't think they would be too hard to get but I haven't played a bow user in quite a while so Í'm probably way off.

Thornlord or Bow of the Elements (Air) for a longbow. Great Club, I don't know, I've never used one.

Edit: I haven't looked at the challenge bows in a long time, those might be an option too. Pinion is good too, but can't use it til 23. I don't even use it and I have one. I like L20 or 21 items for epic leveling personally. I don't bother swapping anything for upgrades until L29.

Yeah, I got nothing for greatclub either, never use one.

I second the Epic Thornlord and Epic Bow of Elements (Air) recommendations. They both have expanded crit ranges. I like the Bow of Elements a little better because with 13 AP in AA you can save an item slot or augment if you go with Shock arrows.

And then for level 26 I like the Epic Sapphire Sting, and the Legendary Inferno Sniper at 29. Sure there are raid bows that might be slightly better than Inferno Sniper, but it has aligned, and now that Stay Good no longer breaks Good DR, that is pretty nice, with all of the devils/demons/abashai you will encounter on Legendary reaper runs. Could slot a good augment in a raid bow I suppose, but then it is BtC, which is annoying for TR cache management, and eliminates one of the reasons they are better.

The Epic Greatclub of the Scrag, while the stats are ok, is hilariously large, especially on a large model like PDK or Halforc.

You just missed the Night Reveals event, if that comes back the level 20 Crystalized Eternity might be ok.

But the best mid epic might be the Mizzen Mast at level 24. Cool graphic and decent stats for a greatclub.

I mean come on...a no save knockdown on vorpal that bypasses fortification. 3 types of extra damage with a fourth with a ruby slot.

It is your only choice for great club sentient weapon imo. I been eyeing mine in the bank myself...

Right, as already noted, just visit this page, sort by minimum level and look through all entries in 20-24 range.
Greatclub is a bad choice for a power gamer, so I assume you are mostly interested in looks.

this was a fun one but, yep, it doesn't hold a candle to a greatsword or greataxe. It's a good alternate in case of rusties, oozies, Ozzies or skelies, though.

Not sure if there is a weapon available that is a good option all the way from 20 to 30 though. There is nothing like an eSoS for greatclub or maul, I would recommend a dragontouched weapon at lvl 24.

I will second this vote, THF gets lots of hits (between cleaves and strikethrough) so vorpal happens a lot = lots of no-save knockdowns.

KotB crafted (Epic Ethereal (https://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Epic_Ethereal_Greatclub)) is probably the best ML20, but Mizzen-Mast Splinter (https://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Mizzen-Mast_Splinter) is a clear winner until endgame where Conqueror of Bone (https://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Conqueror_of_Bone) likely wins out for the base damage increase (although the CC might still make MMS better).

a greatclub cosmetic may be an option.
The wiki says distinct combat (animation) styles for 2H are quarterstaff, greataxe and 2-handed, so any 2H weapon that is not a greataxe or qstaff should be compatible with a glamered greatclub.
This info may be outdated though, I remember there was an animation overhaul some years ago.

I would use Pinion as your sentient bow for epics. It's way better than EThornlord/Bow of the Elements Air, granted it's ML 23 but it's just 3 easy fast levels.
No need to use sentient xp into multiple weapons unless you have tons of it.

One for low epics (Pinion) and one for endgame (Twisted Willow/Chaosbow/Aerania...)

Probably, but epic thornlord can be paired raven eyes / gem of many facets for sand of Epic Menechtarun Scavenger that's sets better then pinion and you can easily get thornlord setting you up all the way thru to 29
