Hey folks, relatively new to the game and most especially with builds from the game. Played D&D for decades but not DDO and of course, the builds are a bit different. I have a female Wood Elf Druid 6th level and I am trying to figure out a really good build for her. I don't mind changing a few things here and there, but race stays. I like the idea of a Wood Elven Druidess. So far here is what I've got.

I honestly had no idea what to take, all I knew is that I wanted a shapechanger and I could really use some help with fixing her up to become viable later on when it comes time to raid. I do however want to keep a sense of the character's background, race, etc. So nothing that doesn't make sense for who and what she is. Thanks if you can help. Please keep in mind all of my toons are 1st generation. There are no legacies or any of that stuff. If I need to rebuild, please help if you can with the best way to go about doing it, as I have not done yet.

Your build seems a little...unfocused. If you haven't used it yet, you may want to use your free Heart of Wood to LR (https://ddowiki.com/page/Lesser_Reincarnation) into a different build. Two basic kinds of pure druid builds you'll find: casters and melee DPS. For a caster build, see this thread (https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/427398-Gingerspyce-s-caster-healer-quasi-tank-build); for a bear druid, see this thread (https://www.ddo.com/forums/showthread.php/513495-Ursine-Cub-Bear-Druids-for-New-Players-(U45)). Wood elf is a good alternative to human for the latter thanks to racial falchion bonuses especially Rugged Upbringing: "While Raging, gain +5% Doublestrike with Longswords, Rapiers, Scimitars, and Falchions."

Hey thanks so much for the help and info. I added you if that's cool. You seem very knowledgeable in builds and I will follow your advice. Which do you think is the best route? The Bear/Wolf or the caster build. I really had my heart set on Wolves cuz I love the Winter Wolf but I am flexible. Why do you think the bear is so much better now? Oh yeah, I have not used the Heart of Wood. I wanted to have a concrete build to go on before using it. I definitely like the falchion idea. So far I focused on Longswords. +2 Vorpal Longsword of Crit Slashing 3

Bear and wolf builds are very similar, the main difference is how they spend their APs on Enhancements. The wolf focuses on Nature's Warrior (https://ddowiki.com/page/Nature%27s_Warrior_enhancements) while the bear focuses on Nature's Protector (https://ddowiki.com/page/Nature%27s_Protector_enhancements). The tl;dr summary is wolf has higher single-target DPS while bear is better for fighting trash mobs.

Wolf pros: +30% attack speed with Winter Wolf form + Swift Hunter (tier-5 Nature's Warrior); sneak attack dice (8d6 on pure druid with NW capstone); higher run speed; temp HPs from Jaws of Ice; wolf-only CC abilities (Takedown, Jaws of Ice and Snowslide).
Bear pros: higher base damage when using 2H weapons OR access to Ursa's Protector bonuses (+HPs/CON/MRR) when S&B; Strikethrough (https://ddowiki.com/page/Strikethrough); bear-only CC abilities (Savage Roar, Tremor, Bear Charge); can equip metal armor & shields (Force of Nature); +5/10% attack speed from the last two Nature's Protector core enhancements.

When you shapeshift, your melee damage is based on your equipped weapon, so normally wolf/bear druids will use 2H weapons for max DPS. Falchions are nice for their 18-20/x2 critical threat range. [EDIT: that's partly because a pure druid only gets a +1 crit multiplier bonus from Nature's Warrior and partly because Essence of the Shrike is a proc-on-crit effect: so higher crit chance means more temp spell points.] Elves also have access to racial bonuses to falchions.

Adapting my human bear druid to wood elf wolf is pretty straight-forward.
