Back 2 Basics Nightmare's fire circle damage WAI?

at the end of Back to Basics I have noticed that the nightmare's fire circle spells continue to do damage in the area even after the circle has exploded and disappeared. is this WAI? The large amount of damage persists for a long time after the circle is gone and often well after the nightmare is dead. this can hit for several hundred fire damage with no indication of whether the area has gone back to safe or not. I am hoping this is not WAI

The fire damage is ridiculously overtuned in R10. A single stack hits for 850ish with 35% fire absorb. Melees weep.
