Has anyone else thought that much of the armor random or named, in DDO is everything from ugly to goofy and does not resemble traditional armor of the European middle ages? It does not have to be utterly plain and practical (although in some cases that would be an improvement,) but it could look a whole lot better. Suggestion, contact Larry and Jeff to design several suits of armor, leather, mail, studded, scale, banded, half-plate, plate, full-plate as well as robes to provide some really excellent looking armor, the kind we see in the artwork of the game we all love so much. My two cents.

From I think levrel 15 onwards you get really good looking random armor - I'm talking about armor which looks like a knight would wear.

Low level marmor looks indeed very often just ugly, which - I think - is meant to reflect the weakness of the low level character.

Apart from that you should be aware of the fact that Eberron is a unique setting - and its art style - especially of the lower levels - rather follows mesoamerican and south american art styles.
You'd find more "traditional" fantasy armor rather in Eveningstar and in similar settings, I guess.
