Wow: A new type of Lag-Bug! No XP awarded even when awarded !?

So I was running along an finishing up a level with 29,000 XP to go. Ran a semi favor run, just to clean up the quest, and at the end it awarded 9448 XP. Great. only 20k more to go... except, I got nothing. Chalked it up to some strange Lag/Hiccup, and only 10K I can live... Got the favor reward however, as it was also the last 5 favor for that tier. Ok, so I still need 29K to level, I'll just go out to the Vale, and I'll knock that out in a few minutes... I got a couple slayer kills and the XP for them... then nothing. Over 7k XP and no XP awarded... I was able to screenshot it...

You can see I'm at 3,132,447 XP with 18 Shavarath kills

You can see that at 28 Shavarath kills (and the 1,222 XP message still visible) that I still have 3,132,447 XP.

I was hoping it was just a graphics bug, and logged out, closed my client and restarted. Still 3,132,447 XP. So that was a total of almost 16,000xp lost.... Also still hoping this is not a serious bug, but a small hiccup that'll be resolved by AM. I'm logging for the night, not worth risking losing more.

I see you are holding a level and are Rank 86 - which is enough for level 18 I think.

This. Lvl 18 is 3,090,000, so op is 42k above xp cap for his lvl (16). Saga/mm/stones from rolls i guess, since those are the only ones that bypass xp cap.

Honestly, i'm suprised that someone with 2007 sign date and 2.5k posts have such problem. :P

Level 16, rank 86, you were xp capped - and then some.

The only things that can give you experience over the rank 85 cap is experience stones or monster manual bonuses.

You're going to earn 0 experience no matter what you do until you get to level 17

2 lvls xp cap is pretty basic mechanic in ddo, so it's hard for me to imagine someone who is not newbie didnt encountered it. :P Ofc join date alone means not much, thats why i also wrote about posts: 2.5k implies that op is not casual players who plays few hours a year, but more like someone who plays a bit. :P

For the record: not trying to mock him or anything like that.

Hmm... well... I had thought the 3,090,000 was Lvl 18, but when I completed Sunrise in Ravenloft, it gave me the full XP and not the 3,089,999 as usual for capped, I kept going. I then did the Morgrave University quests and kept getting XP... And no, I wasn't using sagas, XP stones, boost pots (other than a slayer boost when entering the Vale) or anything else that might have affected the XP. And yes, I've been banking levels for years now, and I've never once seen a time when you can get past the cap other than with Monster Manual rewards...

Yeah, looked it up, and for some reason, it bugged and was giving me quest XP long past when it should have. I had thought Lvl was 3,090,000, but when it gave me full XP and not the 3,089,999 I should have gotten, I continued to quest normally, thinking Lvl was 3,160,000 instead. Not sure if it is a bug with Morgrave University quests, or a one off fluke that pushed me well past cap before whatever flag got set... either way, I've never seen this before.

I don't think it had anything to do with lag. There are certain things that give you xp when you are already maxed out - most notably daily dice, sagas and monster manual xp. The overage is likely due to one or more of those.

Not a fluke. I experienced this once before as well with Ravenloft, having banked 2 levels in Sunrise i had noticed too late. When i finished the quest i still gained the XP (what a relief).
Not every quests do that though and I'm not sure if it's consistent with Ravenloft. I have not tried again.

Does anyone know the reason why they added such limitation?

banking levels made sense 10 years ago, but there is far more content than you can even run before you get to cap these days

You don't understand, some people LIKE to bank levels. But of course, you have to keep track of where you are and not keep playing over the level cap and lose xp.

Im not sure about your issue with what happened, but I can say LAG has been horrendous lately. Its to the point of how it was before they did those changes on the test server and then made it live a month or so ago. We are getting huge lag spikes, stuck on load screens, can enter ship, cant enter quests.. running in place.. etc.. its bad again.

The way the XP stops sometimes but not at others can be a little confusing. If I'm not mistaken, Monster Manual XP will always give XP regardless of the bar. Probably others.

I have had a heavy day of XP runs and forgot where I was and looked at the bar and thought, since it wasn't at the end, I had more to go.

Yeah, I should and do no better, but sometimes I'm not always thinking and that appears to be what happened here.

I'm just glad I didn't rage post to embarrass myself, which I have done on plenty of other topics.
