Lessee here:
Weapon swap outs causing around 2 seconds of helplessness.
No offhand procs whatsoever going off that I can tell.
Even more lag than before.
I’m suddenly reminded of that fool that had the “Mission Accomplished” banner hung on the USS Abraham Lincoln back in ‘03.

By this time on Friday we'll all have a pretty good idea of what the changes have done.
My response right now would be neutral as a mostly solo player, with the caveat that my latency is more than double what it usually is at 82ms. I saw no difference in attack animations or results with THF (spec'd for) and Bow (used as a long range answer to things hard to get close too.)

The servers have never been able to handle massive logging in and out over a short period of time. That's not what this fix was aiming to fix.

I had some time to play and now it is just not worth it.
I am no longer going to pay to support this adjustment period any further.
I was willing to spend a $1000 a year on this game, not any more.
Hopefully in the future EG7 will step in and adjust things wanting my money again.

However, most who complain now, will buy the new pack, renew the vip etc ...

My mains build is fubar, big changes needed. Respec may not ever happen though because the new bow animation looks like it was mocapped from a toddler running around with a toy bow. I guess the animator is second rate and gets all their reference material from bad anime.

Besides the long loading instances, doorways, screens, and ui's to pop up. Update isn't *bad* I went from 1,053 positive spell power all the way to 1,256 this update fully buffed. I'm not complaining, just pulled a m3 rp3 Morion of the Undying. However, the condition of the lag is freaking ridiculous, and was worse running those quests than I've had in a while.

I know there are probably a lot of people on, checking out the changes, but the servers ought to be able to handle that. My load screens are lasting over 60 seconds. The quest entry UI for the new quests is taking 2+ minutes to pop up. Not an improvement...

Voted Dislike because if the intent was to reduce lag, they have achieved the exact opposite.
Logged in with my Ranger to see how the bow changes work - took a run in Gianthold - lag is so bad I can hardly walk forward, mobs appear in front of me having walked up unseen etc.
Can't really assess the changes because I can hardly use them.

I voted like. Yes, there is some lag on the load screens but I expect that will be ironed out in a day or so. I saw the note about changes to Holy Retribution so I went and tried it and there is nothing I notice. In fact, with the new double strike changes, you get some amazing critical hits. Some serious big numbers on eSoS. So, a tentative thumbs-up pending more testing (also haven't run the new quests yet).

I loved tuning my new thrower build over the recent weeks. Now its a complete pain to play.
CC - one of the main aspects of these kinda builds - is basically no longer existent. Same applies to weapon procs (rainbow anybody?).
The whole build feels like it is in slow-motion now.
Moreover, many nerfs to ranged speed feats were balanced by damge buffs on said feats - "while wielding Longbows and Shortbows". Hooray for build diversity.
Not enjyoing this toon at all right now. Perhaps the answer to server-load based lag is to reduce the player-base. If it stays like this - mission accomplished...

Well, I tried to log in the same toon 3 different times and waited 5 min each time and no dice. If you cant log in, then the update is a fail, plain and simple. Other toons took 2 min or so to log in, then sometimes 2 to 3 min to port someplace, simply NOT ACCEPTABLE.

Due to load screens and quest window lag, I get time to pop out of game and read the forum news. So, more multitasking encouraged during play. Who wants to spend all of their game time actually playing anyway. Well, let me go check on the load screen.
I actually like the intentional changes they made. I've been playing thrower builds recently and I was worried but I've had a chance to go through a few raids on LH, a few quests on reaper levels and some general slayer. I do notice fewer procs on Stay Frosty and especially Nerve Venom - which I lean on for Reaper CC - but the damage is still good and Hunt's End is working just fine.
I am, of course, disappointed with the number of roll-out bugs, halo-effects or whatever you might call it. All these other issues really do reflect poorly on STG's QA process. There's just no other way to paint that picture.

When's the last time you tried Holy Retribution? It's fundamentally changed. It used to hit 3 times before double strike, now it's a 30 second long cleave.

Since they’ve already had to shut the servers down, it’s a pretty safe assumption that they’ve royally screwed the pooch with this utter joke of an update.

Weapon swaps were destroyed. I cant possibly see it working this way. Sitting for about 1.5 seconds and getting pummeled is not my idea of fun. They should really fix this. I have a thread just in that topic. The change is bad for situational swapping 100%

Well at least the new quests are quite nice. BUT... the rest of U49 is bad. Bow = fail. Lag = fail.
It must be heart-breaking for the devs to push out this stuff where they feel a sense of pride in their work for it to fall down within a couple of hours of release and lots of customers don't like the changes. It doesn't look good and frankly it is not good. Someone should take responsibility for this and get a grip because it seems to be a repeating syndrome lately.

it probably depends on the person. I can test for a few hours and assess reasonably well the impact. I can tweak my build and retest in another few hours.
I can't relate to folks that thinks it takes weeks to figure it out, but it's just due to different personality types. if I have to lesser tr or fully tr to fix my build I consider it problematic as SSG offered no hearts for this so it shouldn't be expected to evaluate the change.

Too many changes clustered in one update, killed many different playstyles with no counterbalance, AoE nerf to named bows ignoring all feedback/questions, overall flattening of the game experience, paving the road for future stuff while it was supposed to be a "bow pass".
Also long overdue fixes like IPS/char height issue and disappearing projectiles weren't addressed.
Overall poor communication imho despite some worthy but short-lived attempts.
Implement stuff in smaller doses, such huge revamps take A LOT more testing.

Previous update lowered THF damage. This update cuts 50% out of Adrenaline. I'm not interested in re-rolling and a full re-spec of my main every time these clowns "fix the lag". Stepping off the hamster wheel seems the best option at this point.

I love it, it does help with my gaming addiction. I can spend weeks with playing only a couple of hours a week but I think it is still too much.
This hot mess along with the total annihilation of my favourite builds...
So yes, the spring is coming, I might just pick up gardening.
I advise everybody do the same. Sport or something more creative than this timesink.

The biggest issue I had with the update was the hanging loading screens.
Bear and wolf druid seem to perform similar to what they did before the update. Go for the kill was rubber banding a bit more than usual when used and hard targeting dire charge has been a bit borked since whenever they changed it to be a homing missile. Wish they would roll that one back as it just straight up fails to work often enough to be annoying. Sometimes its just easier to use as a point blank aoe stun. Purposefully tried to overload the effects cue but I won't be confident they fixed anything on that end until I've tried to overload it during a raid.

Man those 6 that are very satisfied , they will just buy anything wont they. The Servers brought down just a few hours after the update after being reported that the update created more problems than it solved . If that makes you very satisfied , what doo you need to be dissatisfied with a product ? LOL
Its a total wreck , my car has more problems then when i brought it at the garage ... BUT , but , but i am very satisfied !!!
Its funny nowadays people will support blindly, no matter how broken it is sold to them , because in the end they feel the need to defend each and every decisions or jobs or updates . It is sad to be so shackled to a game to be so blind to its colossal failures, even more sad when seeing it and defending it anyway . you pay for your game whether in micros or vip or both .
But it is so absent of quality control , and they are rudderless-ly guided that they broke more than they fixed . it is a pattern that we have seen too often before .
So often that people are not even surprised or upset when it happens thats how high the expectations are here .
So im just wondering if an update that breaks more than it fixes makes you very satisfied , what do you need to be dissatisfied with a product ?
Anyone declaring themselves very satisfied with something like this lose any credibility in my eyes .
Its like yah dude brought my car at the mechanic but when i picked it up , more was broken than when i dropped it , here is his card if you wanna bring your car in , i am very satisfied !!!

Seems pretty fair to "strongly dislike" an update that causes a lengthy emergency shutdown.
But beyond that, I "strongly dislike" that the devs decided to nerf non-damage procs even more than necessary. Never did hear a good answer to why debuff/buff stacks and saves weren't multiplied.

These changes are very significant and very impactful. Some people will want to change builds.
My personal opinion is that they should give every character a btc lesser +20, btc stone of xp and btc sov xp so people can respec quick if they choose. Not so much as an apology but as a recognition that they are forcing some % of players to respec.

On hardcore we've seen lag since day 1 when everyone was lvl 1 with no gear, no plat, no TR caches, and no raids were being run - the changes were not to reduce lag - there were no doublestrikes in raids on hardcore because no one on hardcore was high enough level or geared enough to raid and yet we had awful lag.
This update was another balancing pass to 'adjust' over-performing builds during the hardcore league (and live server R10s), plain and simple.

this was not a change about lag but a change about nerfs. nerfing procs adrenaline and general player dps and hiding it behind the guise of lag knowing the player base is so desperate for better server service that they would take anything. Very shameful. If this is the firm they hired to help figure out the lag then they really are lost.

Today when it went live. There is no 30-second long cleave, that's simply false misinformation. It is exactly the same - kills everything around you.

I started to respond to someone claiming a melee nerf...when I realized this was an attempt to derail the OP.
Suffice it to say, this is a ranged nerf. If you can't see it for what it is; you are blind.
You can check my posts on Lam forums about this so-called pass when like many others I foretold: This will NOT fix LAG!
Additionally, someone earlier stated "they preferred a game that the could play" and I agree with this sentiment.
If the Devs goal here is to have us buy Horizon Walker so our ranged builds will perform again, then claiming that the Devs are rudderless is also in err. They need to make money for SSG. If the goal was to reduce lag, Devs...this is a colossal failure.
At this point (game-wise), I got to test my thrower build in the feywild explorer zone for about an hour before the servers shut down. While the damage was there (at times) I noticed some weirdness with IPS and I missed ALOT. Also there was still LLLLLLAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGG!!!! More LAG than prior to U49 so this is a mission fail. Period.
So in line with others that have posted here you can add my name to list of EXTREEMLY DISLIKE U49. For the reasons stated above.

I did manage to play 3 of the new quests and try out my THF build.
Concerning Lag, honestly it seemed the same as before, just a bit more frequent spurts
Some lag was like run past where the mob would be, and then appear behind you
Really disliked the non-proc doublestrike as I did notice less frequent proc effects during a battle
Some of the procs are damage based, so less frequent damage number TYPES than used to seeing
The multiplicative damage in lieu of doublestrike was as they said, higher highs and lower lows - kinda neutral on this
I really hope they fix up this emergency shut-down
Kinda like the stock market - goes up and down, but over time does get better...

My biggest problem with this is that I just don't buy that the nerfs are happening to improve performance. It's a lack of trust more than anything.
On top of this, lack of trust aside, I really don't like that they're nerfing because of performance, while not giving back enough. If it's for performance then they need to give back more than they have.
As for actually playing with 49 to see if performance is improved...I can't so the jury is out there.

I assumed the question was for the update as it was supposed to be, rather than the obviously unintended downtime and loading issues.
But overall, with the limited time I had with it, I liked it.
Ranged DPS doesn't seem to be as bad as everyone was whining about.
Nerve venom, prism, and other procs were absolutely going off, despite all the posts claiming mathematically it wasn't going to happen.
My THF Barb didn't really notice any difference from adrenaline, except I always had 6 or 7 available.
And there seemed to be zero lag in quests (not that I think there were that many people online, this was never going to be a one day thing. We'll have to see over the next month or so.
That being said, I ran the new quests on R1 and R3, did not run any raids, so I don't know how this will play out long term.
So first impressions for me are positive.
Of course the group lag, the loading screen lag, loading into the game took a while, Feywild explorer was unplayable.
That was terrible.
Also apparently missed selling arrows for millions of plat, so there's that as well.
I also only managed to loot one new item despite running the new chain twice, that was irritating.. but par for the course really.
Only thing I would have liked to see this update was Horizon Walker released at teh same time so we have some idea of where bows will end up.

Mary read between the lines, all servers, hardcore, Khyber are one. It's almost like the entire game is run of one pc.
Can multiple raids on a other server effect hardcore...yes it seems that way. Can hardcore cause lag on live servers. Yes it seems that way. This combat update is very small fix to a large problem, possible with the root cause being they don't want to pay to separate each world onto its own server, obviously due to cost. They will continue to shave the low fruit as much as they can to just be able to keep the wolfs of their back. If the low fruit means decimating the things we love about the game, then so be it. It's all about cost and the easiest cost effect solutions.

the higher amounts of lag when taking/turning in quests also happened in lotro, especially with the new mission system.
whatever the behind the scenes changing is, theres something wrong when under load. but im no dev so its pure guesswork.

Monk/rogue staff build here.
I did actually encounter some improvements in-quests. My dire charge was always lagging, but it seemed to be much better yesterday. Loading screens and NPC dialogs were awful thought. My build is doing still OK. I don't think that the adrenalin reduction is a nerf. It is not for me, since I have 100% doublestrike, so it is double dmg from adrenaline all the time. Fury of the wild is not my main ED, but I think adrenalin could not doublestrike before this update. So if your doublestrike is high enough it is not a nerf ( [(dmg+200%dmg)x2] ~ [(dmg + 400%dmg) + doublestrike DMG] ).
What bothers me is my self-healing from healing shield and ki-generation. Ki is generating slower and my healing shield is giving me half the heals as before! I don't care too much about non-dmg weapon proc, but ki and healing shield really bothers me. Pls let healing shield be multiplied by doublestrike as well and give ki-generation a boost!
So far neutral, but expect that this will be given some more thought and work!

Don't really care.
Would have been nice to get a lesser heart considering all the changes but that's just a nice to have.
Only real beef is why am I suddenly firing my bow in a semi-gangster style? Not entirely sure what the design decision was there since you don't fire a bow like that.
In the very short time I had to test before it went down again it did seem to look as if the problem with bow autoattack always missing if a mobs moves left or right because the game is unable to lead targets, seems to be better if not fixed outright.

I do not only dislike the update i outright hate it. I play a monkcher with 12 LvL of monk as my main build, since i got my completionists in 2014 and i really loved the build.
I feel remembered to my old ego-shooter times when you hear a sound (what new bow revamp, whats that) and next thing you hear is the "Headshot" Sound and your dead, my monkcher is vastly underperforming now.
I only testet on dps dummies by now, but i have all bursts taken away (10k stars with no compensation whatsoever) and all the improvements from feats improve my dmg/hit by about 110%. I did have standing 120% Doubleshot prior to the update already tho, so it seems i lost about 10% dmg which might be compensated in means of dps by higher attack speed as before (didnt test yet). when i take the bursts into account i had prior to U49, my dps did get vastly nerfed tho, i had one of 10k: +60 Doubleshot +82 Ranged Power and Manyshot: +120 Doubleshot +100 Ranged Power up like all the time (in every trash fight in quests and 80 of 120 sec in Boss Fights) i dont think the improvements will compensate for that. I will test when servers are back up tho.
Anyways, the Monk (except 1 lvl +2 feats for stances) is a no brainer for Bows now, since it doesnt bring any gains. The 10k feat was monk lvl dependend, so you needed to invest many lvl and drop in BAB to get a good outcome of it and none of its enhancement trees do work with bows, so it seems the 10k was the only real gain here. Now it seems Pala, Ranger, Fighter, Rogue are much better choices for Bow Builds. Even Wizzard and Alchi with their ele/poison dmg seem a better choice. The monkcher did just get fataly wounded.
And I hate to get fataly wounded, so i hate the Update. I hope someone hacks the code and we get a private server sometime, if it is prior U49 im gone for good.

Only real beef is why am I suddenly firing my bow in a semi-gangster style? Not entirely sure what the design decision was there since you don't fire a bow like that.
I am wondering about this myself.

At least mail and auction seems to be working as intended . So props for having something on par with the rest of the gaming industry .
