and many other skills, abilities and items are being HEAVILY nerfed.

How are you making up for that? (You have explained how you are going to keep the dps equal, but without the CC abilites, many builds will lose viability.)

DDO is broken in many different ways right now but the predictability of CC is probably the #1 overall break.

I've seen some encouraging changes recently, with the frequent disjunction of cast buffs by mobs leading the way but there are a bunch of other things that need to be done to bring the game back into alignment. Making CC less dependable as a primary combat mode would definitely help.

Then we can start talking about DPS over-run and where that has cornered DDO and DDO builds.

It's probably the opposite. DPS should definitely be focused on more than cc. And we should definitely understand the impact of U49 before further marginalizing cc as a tactic which tends to be used more by casual players.

I've been using cc in the AA tree as long as there has been an AA tree. So, please don't minimize this change. It is a MAJOR shift to the way a lot of people have been playing this game for years. This is a big deal. Crowd control effects are not new, but all of the sudden they are a problem? They cannot seem to fix lag, so why not nerf all the effects and hope it fixes it? They are going to alienate a lot of folks here. Also, on a larger scale, it is not just ranged, it is not just crowd control effects, it is everything melee and ranged that uses multiple hits to apply an effect of any type. So vorpal / critical hit effects etc...

You completely misunderstood what I said. I responded to this

With this

And we should definitely understand the impact of U49 before further marginalizing cc as a tactic

The ship sailed on the U49 changes as far as I can tell.

Lag reduction is just a side effect (if it will happen).
Nerf>possible performance increase.

If the nerfs help with lag then i honestly give a rats f... about outcome.
I have learned over the years to accept nerfs.
Our strategical approach is to strong now.
Ballanced is to strong, para arrow is to strong, nerve is to strong.

Melees have a stun blow on 15 sec cd and dire.
Dire is to strong should be changed in a way that not every build can take it.
Strategical abilities should be strategical like tomb of jade.
Massive cd but super high dc.

IF the. changes fail the deliver significant lag reduction THEN they need to roll them back.

It's too big a price for no benefit.

This would be the only fair and logical thing to do in those circumstances.

Does anyone think they actually will though..?

No chance in heck.

You are fooling yourself if you think the primary reason for all the nerfs is for helping game lag. It may be a side benefit, if it does anything at all; but we all know what the real reason is....

This was supposed to bring bows up to a better place, but they just cannot bring themselves to do it. And then they ask us why why we don't trust them to do the right thing or why we say things like SSG hates bows? Either they are so detached from the game and what their customers were expecting with u49, or they suffer from such arrogance that they cannot see or admit they are wrong. Probably both imho.

For everyone who's not part of your "we all", please fill us in on your theory of the "real" reason.

It involves your money and a new tree... with the emphasis on your money. And by your I mean as many of us as possible.

If anyone thinks that U49 & all the changes DON'T have anything to do with Horizon Walker and selling (another) totally OP class/tree then you're dreaming.

But then, what else is new here? We have 45 members in our gaming guild, 24 active vip accounts in DDO and 14 in LotRO. OUR collective endorsement or exile of SSG's games are riding in the balance with U49 and bow combat changes. We don't hold out much hope though. We've seen this movie played out for 5 years now.
