I have a Winter Wolf build and the toon is using a Tail of Suulomades.
While adventuring in Winter Wolf form, the toon runs across some oozes and later some rust monsters. He attacks and destroys the mobs while his Tail of Suulomades is equipped.
My question is whether the falchion will take a bunch of damage because he has it equipped, or will it not take damage because he's in an animal form?
Thanks.

it takes a bunch of damage now
it didnt use to, but when they first started getting rid of things like swf and twf working in animal form they started taking damage

I think it was when they changed animal form to use your weapon's damage instead of flat 1d10 or whatever.

Aside from the wild shape issue, I thought I had read that the game is really doing a calculation based on the level of the item, and high level legendary items don't have a problem anymore because of that. I never tested it out. I use a Feywild maul just in case, they are extremely easy to get and oozes and rusties get crushed by them rather viciously

Crystal weapons don’t take damage from rusties/ooze. You could use the legendary ferrocrystal falchion. Or echo/reflection of blackrazor if you aren’t stuck on falchions.
Mirana of the flame is made of fire, so it shouldn’t take damage from rusties/ooze, but haven’t verified.

Yeah, I thought of a Ferrocrystal Maul, Muck's Obliteration, and all those other possibilities, but, instead, I decided I wanted to make a Cannith Crafting weapon if weapons took Ooze and Rust damage.
I needed to make sure I wasn't wasting crafting ingredients before I pulled the trigger on this:

I had to fit in Improved Critical:Bludgeoning to make it worth it, but I did.
The only other hiccup was that Colorless Augment slot. It's pretty much useless for a part-time weapon at best. A Red and an Orange or Purple slot would have been perfect. I could have added a Cold damage or Electric damage augment in addition to the Fire damage one.
