Exactly. It gets old reading the rants of the rabble-rousers angry that they can't waltz in on Reaper 3 at level with a 28-point character (and no ship buffs or gear) and hit the win button.

Instead, you MAY want to consider changing your strategy this season to meet the new challenges.

Now the lag.. that still sucks, but it's not like we've never experienced it.

Agreed if you can't find it funny then you probably shouldn't play on hardcore.

Everyone winces when a high level toon dies and you can often get some condolences, especially from your guildies but in the end they can, will, do and even HAVE to die.

If it's lag, a mimic, a bad jump, a lucky crit or stepping into the danger room, none of that matters it's hardcore and it's hardcore for that reason. The DM's a complete jerk and he doesn't care so if you don't want to dance then don't sit at his table.

Personally I think it's a great idea, and I would keep the vendor turned off entirely (rumor is he'll be back without the bait). I have lost a toon every hardcore, 3 in the very first season and that happens. Hell last season the one I lost had hit 20 during a quest (due to Monster Manual XP) and I didn't realize it. He died in that quest and I had to run another toon to 20 to get the sash (was my only goal last time). Did it suck, yeah it absolutely sucked but I also made the decision to go into Sharn and those little exploding robots can get lost in the churn sometimes.

This time around I am skipping a fair number of chests when I am solo unless it drops something I know I am going to want or need I will just skip it more often than not. That is a option right? If I decide to open that chest and a mimic eats me, that's on me, even if the server lags out and that's why it eats me it's still on me. I decided to open that chest knowing that was a possiblity.

Agreed - I'm finding groups that are running quests as if they were on live server and I just stay back rather than waste the breath. Zerging - going for opts, opening doors that don't matter, solo opening chests etc is going to get them killed eventually.
I'm all about a semi-zerg, but with the lag the way it is the group has to stay coordinated. Most of us can solo these quests sans-lag, but it's the lag spikes we're paying attention for. At times it's almost like trying to sense a disturbance in the force lol

My way of playing DDO is very simple : Adapt to what you find. Finished.
Works in Real Life as well, by the way. ;)
