View Full Version : Party favor averages per party punch

I picked up 10x party punches plus the 1 free one and ended up with 187 total party favors after running all 11 pots. I was running my normal play style (not doing stuff to maximize the punch like running low level content just to farm mobs) with a mixture of solo and party leveling to 30 along with an ER and leveling back up. So an average of 17 per punch (1 every 3.5 minutes). I was just using DDO points I had from favor/leveling on the punch so it was zero costs for me but overall the lack of getting party favors effectively in real world play is a little meh.

My experience with them was this.
I took an 8th toon, wiz rogue, I drank the potion and went into Kobold Assault, ran it 2 times for approx 24 minutes. I got 12 Party Favors.
I decided to try the actual Party Quest which took me 24 minutes. I went in 1 level over (9th) and got 9 Party Favors and 2 bonus ones for a total of 11.
In favor of running the annual quest I got 4 junk chests compared to 2 which was more helpful to the guild.

I think I am at 6ish tries with Punch and my top get has been 13 in an hour.
I have found the Punch to be weak and in need of a flavor boost.
Based on my DDO luck though, I could be convinced the devs simply have a Wi Flag on my account. ;)

I used my free potion in the Orchard. I was able to get 1500 slayers with a +50% potion, so about 1000 actual kills in 1 hour, and got the approx 50 Party favors.
A normal run for me of the Anniversary quest is 7-9 minutes. 1 level over gives me only 9 party favor, and same level gives me 8 party favor. Doing the max overlevel, i only get 11 party favor if i remember correctly, but making the time of completion about 12 minutes.
So for efficiency, my preferred is 1 level over, but I only get 9 favor. I don't know how you are getting bonus

All these numbers are bad.
Please forgive me, but if you have a good group of level 27-30 peeps and run on CR 35 the anniv. challenge is completable in very few minutes and nets each party member 12 party favors. In an hour session you should have almost 200 favors give or take as folks cycle in and out of the PUG.
In a good party of 6:
1 person runs the key and to Jeets.
The rest split up to each boss. You have to do all the optional bosses to get 12 keys (Steel/Cordovan/Sev/Lichabel).
Sometimes 1 person stands at Malicia to speed things along after the key runner is done.
After Malicia group mobs Jeets.
You can turn and burn this fast, but have to adjust group roles as PUG peeps cycle in and out.
Also don't forget to snag your collectables.

Yes, this has been my experience, groups can get runs done in about 5 minutes.
The pots are a ... lackluster investment. If the previous post about 50/hr was accurate, at least there could be some thought to buying them. I have my doubts since my results and those of my fellow guildies have been so contrary. First, Cordovan posted it is a 5% chance and you have to make the kill. Doing slayers - nothing shows the bonus activates the chance. I have more than 4,000 slayer kills (with a pot going in Orchard and Thunderholme) and had about ~7 favors collected. Horrible.
Let's add the pots disincentive group dynamics and reward solo play and kill stealing. Great attributes for an MMO. Not.

Without trying to make you feel bad, you are doing it wrong. I have been farming this event on a daily basis. We do CR35 runs with characters level 29-30 and the runs take about 2 min and 30 sec each run, then using DD to get out and reset, you figure a 3 minute run. 10 runs in 30 min will get you 120 tokens, doing it for an hour will get you 240. If everyone in the group participates, no pikers, no bots, this is a very easy event to do. The worst/longest part of the entire event is the kobald run, which can be done very quickly by some classes. You get to the end of the run, talk to Jeets, someone who killed one of the bosses, is standing by at Malicia and they talk to her, you talk to her again where Jeets is, and then your at the boss fight, you burn him down, and DD out, ignoring the trash.
Before people start posting about maxed toons, and blah blah blah, I have done this short manned. One player got 2 bosses, the other 2 players killed one boss each, and I did the kobald run, to get to the end. All of our runs were under 3 min and the two players who were killing one boss each were first life toons, one who I know was just created about 30 days ago. I have done this run with a couple of healers in the group, who can't kill bosses, but if you send them with weaker players they can keep the DPS alive, get the boss killed, and move on to the next thing that needs to be done. Learning how to do the Kobald run is the hardest part of the event. Speed/Stealth is key in here, as you are trying not to interact with any of the mobs in the run, you are simply running through, and the faster you can, the more efficient your runs will be.

Yep I tried the free pot PUNCHY and this was my experience as well, so I went back to pugging the event instead. I'd rather have fun with a group and show new folks how to run the key.
Plus I get to enjoy the clever banter, chats about builds, the game etc. Meet lots of cool peeps too along the way.
Of course you always get a dud or 2 once and a while pugging this event, but for the most part this year everyone pugging has been focused on the turn in burn. Including folks new to the event. This has been a pleasant surprise for me compared to past years.
I did let one fella park his alt at Malacia and it was fine. He cleared the bosses pretty fast with the other 2 peeps. By the time I got to Jeets and finished, they finished the last boss. We didn't have a full group, so all 3 players did the bosses together. Allot variability accross groups, but so far lots of win!

I am a solo player. 7 minute runs on a monk. With a static group, what you describe is true. It's been a long time since I had people to run with.

Healers and new peeps totally welcome to join woot woot! Allot of great groups so far this year!
I've been running the key on an FvS with invis scrolls. Leap of Faith (https://ddowiki.com/page/Leap_of_Faith) doesn't break invis. However allot of the baddies do see and follow, so I use Displacement scrolls as well. Sometimes I have to clear the mob at the gate before using the key. After the gate comes down I use Destruction and Slay Living on the ramp Kobolds while on the run. Then drop down and open the door to Jeets. Once those kobolds change me they get Frogged and any survivors are Imploded :D

My home server is Sarlona and I'm also farming the event for quick XP to Cap. if you want to join/PUG?
I have about 6 accounts I want items for from the event and will switch to the main toons on those accounts once Liv hits 30.
Once my wants are met on Sarlona, I will probably do G-Land, Khyber, or Wayfinder next.
The event ends March 23, so I better hustle :o
EDIT ~ I'm PST.

Level 25 Single Weapon Fighting Paladin. Level 21 Challenge. 19 minutes to complete. 3 Party Favors earned.
Oh, wait. Are you all discussing the _best_ way to earn Party Favors?

There's nothing wrong with your numbers if you're happy soloing.
The point is the Party Punch is a bust. 3.5 minutes in a good group gets 12. And each member not under level gets 12.
A level 26 char. will get 6 favors in a group running CR 35 when the rest of the party is level 27-30. The 27-30s will all get 12 if you take out all the bosses.
The Punch also discourages group play. But that may not matter to you if you only solo.

A bit late - it appears that level doesn’t matter. I jumped into Butcher’s Path on a level 20ish monk alt with a party punch running and averaged about 65 per hour. I just ran to the second ambush. Recall, reset, repeat. Very dull but any character who can run fast and doesn’t have to slow down much to kill things can probably do about the same. There might be a better choice for fast spawning mobs, but that worked well enough. I don’t think the 5% rate is accurate at all though. More like 2-3% if I had to guess. And it’s very uneven - one time I’d get 1 favor and the next time I’d get 7 before my reset point. That 65 per hour isn’t anywhere near as good as the quoted rate for the quest in an efficient group but it ain’t terrible if you like to solo.

Livmo. *gives Livmo the look* Three Party Favors in 19 minutes sucks. It sucks if you are solo. It sucks if you are in a group. It sucks if you are making waffles in a group.

Not for my Paladin. *snickers*
