Hi all,

My group is trying to come up with a tank role for our alchemist, based on the dodge cap from the cores of VC, evasion and also the bOrchidium reaction that boosts PRR. So far it is NOT working, and we do not know if there is anything that works around, eaither pure alchy or a split with some other classes.

Any tanky ideas?

Thanks,

Khorne

If you are looking for a large sustainable dodge cap, picking up a couple levels of Monk might be worthwhile, as GMoF (3 feat investment, but still) gives 8% cap and T2 in ninja spy gives 3 more.

Having halfway decent MRR would be the problem, but it would be on any dodge build, so ehh?

Going pure alchemist gives 10% to dodge cap from the cores. Which way do you think is better, pure or split with monk? Our group concern isn´t necessarily goes to a dodge tank. It is more about chances of a tanky role of an alchemist, either pure or multiclass

Thanks

Going 18/2 Alch/Monk would let you still net 5% of the alch dodge cap, while letting you get Grandmaster of Forms: Ocean (3 feats though, but 2 levels get you 2 of them) for 8 dodge cap and Ninja Spy's "Agility" for 3 more. Losing the capstone hurts, most assuredly, but if you are looking for dodge cap and have the feats to spare, a 2 lvl dip in monk does net you 6% dodge cap and not needing evasion from alchemist.

I guess the main question is what do you want to do with this character? You mentioned VC tree, you thinking an attack build or a spellcaster? If attack, melee or thrown or Xbow.

The thing is, we are a group of three running our third life, and we are swapping roles in each life. One of us plays an alchy and is his turn to tank, whereas the other friend and I are playing sorcerer and DC wizard (myself). The alchy thought he could reliably tank thanks to PRR boost in heroic and to dodge cap in epics, but so far we are at level 13 and he is too weak. He wants to melee a dagger + orb, and getting threat with pure AE damage (wave of poison, multivial, etc..). He is warforged so sorc and I can easily repair him.

But, it is not working. He is one shot every now and then, so I was wondering if there is any tank build based on alchy that worked, even with split of other classes. That´s the reason I am asking all this. Thanks so much for your inputs Stravix
