Solo Reaper Sorc Build Request

Greetings Friends,

Looking for a pure Fire Sorcererererer build that I can solo low reaper content.
Three PL's & +7 supreme tome
I own all content
I don't craft and I don't have any GS gear.
I don't do the whole swap and clickie business. PITA IMHO

I am terrible player and just stumble around and try to farm the best gear available that increases my stats and so I've never payed much attention to the minutia. I manage okay but this will be my first dedicated reaper toon from level 1 project.
I've joined raids and such but find I am always lacking when compared to other players. I did say I am a terrible player, but I want to be a better player and be able to contribute to the count and not be a stone in someones pack or constantly asking for a rez/heal.

Although it has been a couple of years, Strimtom's build is still just as relevant. I don't know what updates you are referring to that would greatly impact Sorcerer.

Race really doesn't matter though if you have Dragonborn/Tiefling obviously use them.

Go fire sorcerer whilst leveling, change to electricity at 12 if you aren't Tiefling, change back to fire at 18.

Honestly, the rest of it is covered in Strim's guide, only change I would make would be to take Draconic Hunger + Flyby attack in Draconic Incarnation and lose 1 Cha.

If you properly farm out the gear, you shouldn't have any trouble hitting Heroic DCs, if not, you can take Heighten whilst leveling and swap it out in epics.

For the love of God, do not take Empower, Enlarge, Extend, or Eschew.

Hmm. Good stuff but you seem to be taking Greater Spell Focus without taking the regular one first. Do you take Regular Spell Focus at 12 or is it actually Greater and you forgot about the regular one earlier?

Thanks for pointing that out, I knew I was missing a feat somewhere. Yeah as you said just swap those round. I usually don't end up taking spell penetration as I personally don't feel the need for it and would rather the extra +1 to evo DCs.

If you are looking to solo low skulls and want some upside to move up skulls the best choice is bladeforged which requires a +1 heart to remove the paladin level. If you don't want to do that I would go with warforged for the self-healing. I am speaking specifically to soloing here - I understand what you lose by going with bladeforged or warforged vs. tiefling/dragongborn. The bladeforged is better so if you don't plan to TR it's worth the points. Just make sure when you lesser with the +1 you pick sorc instead of iconic or you basically waste your heart.

While you can often clear enemies fast enough on a sorc where you don't need to worry about self-healing there are situations where your cocoon and scroll healing doesn't cut it and it's nice to just hit that reconstruct button. I wouldn't worry about the loss of DC or DPS (vs tiefling/dragonborn) - you can make up for that other ways and even so it's worth it for the self healing.

While you will have better dps with both tiefling and dragonborn for sure, you can lose alot of damage output by having to play super carefully on a squishy character when soloing. Cocoon has a 12 second timer and reconstruct has a 5 second timer and heals you for more.

I ran the same character through level 30 reapers on a bladeforged and tiefling sorc. The tiefling could clear dungeons a few minutes faster on R4 on average in quests where I could self heal effectively on R4 (ravenloft, gatekeepers, etc.). There were many dungeons that were problematic due to self healing even on R4. Although I could complete dungeons R6 on both characters the bladeforged could complete every level 30+ quest on at least R4 without dying except TOEE Part II which is mostly because I barely run it and never got good at it. The bladeforged could complete almost all quests on R6 (and I am sure I can go higher but I generally stick to R6 for soloing and group for higher skulls) consistently without dying the tiefling really struggled as I moved up skulls in feywild, sharn, slavers and a few other places. You have to rely on not getting hit more as a tiefling which is challenging in alot of content.

So I stuck with bladeforged for my solo sorc and am happy with it.

So with no greensteel and with the past lifes you listed I go with a 4-piece winter set and 2-piece summer set in addition to your burnscar sash. I would go with the esoteric set as well. I take adamantine plating and remove the spell failure with 15% augment, 15% from racial lifes and 10% from filigree.

Since you don't have greensteel for a swap weapon consider prince's heart which is a feytwisted item for orb - it checks alot of boxes for you if you don't have raid gear.

This data is from my warlock which might be slightly better than sorc, but here is my self-healing #s at each difficulty with reconstruct on a bladeforged (should be about the same on a warforged). The first # is non-crit, the second # is crit.

That's pretty much what you need. Put points into fire savant. Bonus points if you're a tiefling or dragonborn.

I have exactly the healing problem you are describing on my Tiefling fire sorcerer, especially after U48.4, so I am very strongly considering moving to a Bladeforged. Do you happen to have posted your Bladeforged sorc build anywhere on the forums? I did some searching but I'm only finding some discussions about gearing so far.

I have exactly the healing problem you are describing on my Tiefling fire sorcerer, especially after U48.4, so I am very strongly considering moving to a Bladeforged. Do you happen to have posted your Bladeforged sorc build anywhere on the forums? I did some searching but I'm only finding some discussions about gearing so far.

I don't have it on the forums, but I have it in a google doc I will pm you.

If you don't have LGS you can also look at using EE Skyvault shield and taking shield feats for more PRR and MRR if you find you are taking too much damage. I would start out without the shield feats though and only add if you find you need a little more defense.
