View Full Version : What is the Latest Info on Destinies'/Twists' Future?

I am seeing various rumors flying around about the future of Epic Destinies and Twists, specifically that they are going to be gated by level and/or gutted entirely and/or folded into some legendary destiny system or whatever.

The source for this info, as far as I can tell, appears not to be the game forums but dev comments on youtube, reddit, twitter, etc. IE, basically everywhere except the single place one would expect radical changes like this to be floated.

Can anyone please do me the favor of summarizing where this info stands as of today (knowing that it could be altered completely in the future)?

As my next big in game project, I was looking to consolidate epic completionist on some or all of my characters, but if Destinies and Twists are about to be gutted into something unrecognizable, I need that information to know not to waste my time. Or maybe somehow they'll be more appealing after the changes, I can't say because the info I have obtained so far is so piecemeal.

Thanks!

It was asked in the most recent round of Feywild dev interviews. The devs had nothing to share about epic destinies.

Which is not a good sign imo

There was a big hype before enhancement revamp but that was a good change. So... who knows? Maybe they drop the idea or maybe it won't be anything like the enhancement revamp.

There are multiple cases in the forums where people say that the devs have simply stated that Twists are going away. Where is that coming from then?

If they do I hope they will convert FP into something or refund the tomes...
I also hope they will not turn it into a new grind, although it might just open up the opportunity for a more creative or healthier hobby.
But these are all rumors as far as I'm concerned.

The original source was a player's council leak. So far the devs have shared little to no knowledge on the matter other than cordovan stating that the leak contains incorrect information (no mention of how much was correct or incorrect).

they got a righteous amount of backlash, and that's the only reason they actually even addressed the leak instead of just deleting threads, it was far too late to contain. Hopefully this means they'll look at whatever plans they had and keep the player's reaction in mind.

In the same interview, the devs state they don't talk about things until they're ready to talk about them. No point in discussing a system that is still in flux, because all it will do is upset some portion of the player base when it invariably changes.

1) Cordovan mentioned multiple times that reincarnation will not be affected by any level cap raise. EI: I take that to mean: Heroic/Racial able to do at level 20 & Iconic/Epic able to do at level 30. (source Dev Tracker)

2) Cordovan also mentioned that the rumored leaks were inaccurate. (source Dev Tracker)

3) The Feywild Expansion created a new type of Tome: +1 Epic Destiny Points (typed Fey) One can imply that this leaves room to convert +1-3 Fate Tomes into +1-3 Epic Destiny Points (typed Fate) if so desired (although no mention of any intentions have been said). In this case, actions speak louder than words.

4) A member of the Player's Council indicated that the forums influenced certain decisions by the Devs this year. (A lot of ground to cover there.) (source: DDO Forum post)

5) A member of the Player's Council indicated a positive reaction about the path Epic Destinies seem to be going but did not give any details. (source: DDO Forum post)

6) Dev interview: rough quote when asked about Epic Destinies: We don't want to talk about stuff that we are working on. & We just got finished with Feywild Expansion and are very excited to talk about it. (source Podcast)

Overall, we don't know much.

(If you have seen anything posted by me on the subject, it is all theory crafting, logic and bird-eye-view. None of what I post is leaked information.)

Here is my latest thoughts on the matter, if you have the time:

I know they won't, look at my join date. I lost items and I was ignored. You are not the only one.
