Aasimar bond of the protector and Pally sacred defense stance

So I'm wondering if Aasimar bond of the protector in the tier 4 enhancement (gives 5% sacred bonus to hit points)can be toggled on as the same time as sacred defender stance in Pally enhancements. I think it does being the bond says toggle and sacred defender is called a stance but want to be sure before I make the guy and get disappointed,Thanks in advance

I always took the fallen bond because protector doesn't stack with the core 5 from defender. (If you go that far into the tree.)
The fallen one at least worked just fine, so I assume protector would as well.

oh really? ya im gonna be full pally goin all the way into the sacred tree.....but what you're saying is the sacred defender stance will work with the bond of protector but only for so many levels in the tree of defender?

I believe they stack because aren't the Bond of the Protector bonus HP typed as sacred? and the Sacred Defender bonus HP typed as competence? I think they changed the typing not too long ago in an attempt to make a greater variety of races and classes able to be paired without conflict.

The thing is though that two of the class enhancement trees meant for tanks that get a HP bonus, its typed as Competence and WON'T stack with the Epic Defensive Fighting Feat. Just be aware that though Protector and Sacred Defender should stack... Sacred Defender HP won't stack with EDF.

The +10/15/20% HP bonus from Tenacious Defense will stack, but core 5 of sacred defender gives an additional +10% sacred bonus to HP, so it won't stack with the 5% from protector.

Ah well thank you for correcting me, I've never taken that much in that tree to be aware of it. I wonder why the devs didn't recognize that conflicting typing or why they felt there needed to be a discouragement/disincentive to play an Aasimar Paladin?

To prevent all Paladin tanks from being locked into Aasimar; it's 100% intentional. There was a huge %HP boost rework a while back, and it widened the tank options from like two class/race splits to a wider range where it currently is. These days it's much less like "Do X & Y or you're just objectively worse" which allows a fair bit more build freedom. At the cost of common sense sometimes though XD

It's the same reason the T5 for Sacred Defender gives +10% Exceptional AC bonus; so not all AC tanks are locked into /1 Wiz (or Sorc) for EK's Improved Mage Armor. That was frankly pretty dumb and now there's slightly more variety :) If it stacked, all AC tanks would basically have to be X/5/1 Paladin/Wiz; each +10% is like 40-50 AC so there's just no competition (like Stalwart T5 gives +25 AC when stacked lol).

So while yes it discourages Aasimar/Paladin mix, it's much healthier for Aasimar and Paladin otherwise; you can run a Paladin tank without being forced into Aasimar, and you can run a non-Paladin tank using Aasimar and not miss out on % Sacred HP bonus.

ah,yes,I just noticed the core 5 "glorious stand" is 10% sacred bonus so ,ya the bond of protector is 5% sacred so won't stack....thanks!
