View Full Version : Possible new Augment issue

It's probably not a commonly encountered situation, and it might have already been reported in (I certainly haven't found a listed issue in any of the common areas talking about the Augments at the moment anyway), but for those using Toolkits on Augments from items, here's a piece of info to avoid doing:

Make sure you have sufficient inventory space (at least 1 spot in inventory for the Augment you're extracting).

If you attempt to extract with only 1 Toolkit for 1 Augment (expecting the Toolkit to go and the Augment to replace it), the system will instead attempt to give you the Augment first (which it can't, because your inventory is still full), then either destroy the Toolkit and then the Augment in the item you're removing from.

The issue here is, in the old system, if it finds there's no room, it won't extract. Here, it instead goes ahead with the extraction anyway, and you lose the Augment and of course your Toolkit is used up too. It doesn't go into overflow inventory, and instead you're going to need to go through a GM in order to get it back* (Not 100% sure yet the GM will return, currently going through that step right now, and being weekend, likely won't get answered until Monday at earliest).

So, yeah. Make sure there's space in your pack before continuing.

Good warning.

Question: Does the lost augment appear in your "buyback" tab? Often, destroyed items do.

Nope. Not in the Buy Back, have everything else there though. So it looks like your only option is to go via the the Ticket system and ask a GM to restore it.

The only thing is, this sounds incredulous (even to me), and sounds more like a player asking for a free Augment. So I'm not even sure I'm going to be getting my Augment back. Especially if there's no log that shows this event and I have a sneaky feeling there isn't such a log. :-/

Do you have an augment bag? Could it have been auto-collected into an augment bag?

Have two small free augment bags from Ravenloft favor. Checked twice in each the first time. Checked again on relogging to see if it went into overflow. No dice.

I'm sorry I was hopeful it would be something easy and simple.

Just imagine the possibilities if SSG had good code writers and did not rush out a half finished expansion

No worries. I was hoping it might have gone somewhere too and I was just being a klutz but unfortubately that wasn't the case :-/. But can also offer that the error message that you get is not your typical error message. It was like a x item has been destroyed message show up on screen, the icon of the item (augment in this case) and that was it.

From the way I managed to lose the Augment I would say the safety check from the old system was either repositioned in the code, or was completely altered and needs further work to actually stop the same scenario from happening.

And, surprise, surprise(!), the GM closed the ticket and told me I had to be online to get it fixed. 6 hours after I updated the ticket. So I still have no idea if they will return the Augment(s) or not yet now.

Well, for the sake of the community, I redid the exact same thing I did to cause the bug, and made sure to record it. And to make sure its the exact same conditions, I reused the same augment too (Globe of True Imperial Blood), so I'm two down on those and two down on Toolkits.

Video will be up shortly.

Well. That's fairly evidentiary. I hope they reimburse you post haste.

Dang it, SSG, I hate seeing these type of bugs... they really erode my confidence in the game.

I hate seeing these type of bugs... they really erode my confidence in the game.

Bugs I can understand, especially on a newly-overhauled system that the devs have been cautioning us for years was already a huge pile of spaghetti.

The constant drumbeats of people with the same story about CS...tickets taking hours or days and then just being closed with no resolution, the unrealistic expectation that we have to be online at whatever random time they get around to it...that's what erodes my confidence in the game's leadership more.

The fact that things only get done when people make forum posts and Cordo sees to it personally makes me wonder who they pay to handle their CS, and why they're still paying them.

Yeah I get that and for the most part I /shrug when a ladder bugs out, or a collectible can't be picked up, when an enhancement should stack but doesn't, when gear says it does one thing but it does another or nothing at all, when an acid cloud sticks to me till I relog or an effect my character should have from enhancements/destinies/or feats isn't registering till I log out and back in, or having to re-equip certain gear every time I log in to get something to function properly, or you kill a bad guy before the objective registers and have to restart the quest or any of a long list of frustrating bugs. I have come to tolerate a lot. But I'm less than happy with bugs that delete stuff and don't at least send them to your mailbox with an apology.

Because no one hears the drumbeats when they play the drums in the closet.

When an enterprising player starts a social feed that reposts legitimate DDO bugs and CS failures, and it ends up on the front page of Google, which it will because their marketing SEO is garbage, then CS will trend towards noticeable improvements.

Well, finally had time to get in touch with them and WAIT over 4 hours online on the same character, then sign off for the night after no reply, and I get THIS...

https://i.imgur.com/B8oAWzZ.png

Yeah, no kidding about not being able to see the missing items. Because they aren't technically "missing", they're just GONE. And anyone looking at the video can automatically see that.

Of note, is that the previous ticket was answered with "I need you to be online in order to do something about that". So which is it? Can you see anything and the first one was just messing around? Or you can't and this one is not reading anything I wrote in the ticket? Although that won't be a first time with GMs...

And, REALLY..? Fill in a bug report so it can be investigated further?

NO DEAL. I'VE DONE ALL THE FLIPPIN' WORK ALREADY AND IT'S IN THE VIDEO LINKED IN THIS THREAD.

So I bought a new red augment to update my Barovian Repeating xbow, and of course, slotting in a new augment destroys the old... but not here... Instead I get this: "This item can not be augmented because it does not have any augment slots" Really? So what am I supposed to do now? Got a weapon that can not be augmented and an augment that I can't use. Can anyone tell me how to get this to work? Already tried to move the item into bank and then back to character, and logged in and out... no affect. This is just plain annoying.

Thanks for some ideas :-)

From the sounds of it, I'd have to guess that the xbow still has an old filled slot on it. If this is the case, you have to remove the augment with a Legacy Jeweller's Toolkit, available from general vendors for a couple of copper as I recall, though I always buy from from the Cannith Crafting Hall vendor on the guild ship.

Once you've removed the old augment (by double-clicking the toolkit and dragging the item on the window like the old way), the slot will update itself to the new version - and the previous augment should update itself to a new version as well depending on what type it is. Then you can use the new augment items window.

Hey, that worked very nicely! Thank you for explaining this procedure. One last question: Can the augment that was removed now be used?

Thanks again :-)

No worries. The old-to-new augment system could do with being a bit more transparent, I think.

The augment removed will be placed in inventory (or in an augment bag possibly) and will be useable like any other, and like I said will update itself, so if for example you had a ruby that did 1d6 elemental damage before, it'll now be one that does something like 5d6 or thereabouts, or a +8 stat diamond will now be +12.

It's not all perfect, there are still a few bugs here and there. I myself reported a few weeks ago that a Meridian Fragment in a new slot isn't giving any SP reduction - but overall the new system and updated augments work really well.
