Once again Standing Stone Games, players from throughout the DDO community, and associated friends and family are raising money for Extra Life! Our fundraising through Team Standing Stone Games will help the local Boston Children's Hospital, which provides life-saving treatment and care to children from allover the world.

We hope to raise $20,000 for the Boston Children's Hospital this year, and we're combining forces to hit that goal! Team Standing Stone Games includes both Dungeons & Dragons Online and The Lord of the Rings Online players, developers, and friends. Last year we were the top fundraiser for the Boston Children's Hospital, and we'd love to do that again! Standing Stone Games will be donating an initial $5,000 to kick off our fundraising drive, and we hope you will consider supporting our team as well.

What should I do after I donate?

As a token of thanks, we will again be offering minor incentives to people who donate. Also like usual, if you want in on the giveaways and incentives, I need you to send me a quick Private Message on the forums so I can get your information and give you your codes.

If you donate at least $10, you will be entered into the various giveaways that will take place on November 15th. If you donate to me or another Team member, it counts! However, Extra Life doesn't provide me with enough info to match your donation to a forum name, and I don't get info when you donate to other team members, so if you donate, please fill out the following and PM it to me:

First a disclaimer: I gave to the charity because I have always been a big believer in giving back to the community and was behind on my giving for the year anyhow, so I am not angry, upset or otherwise emotional.

However, I do want to mention that the promises made from Movember a few years ago were never honored after NUMEROUS messages, posts, reminders, etc.

I always was given a reason why it couldn't be honored and the date was always moved back - but the bottom line is the promise was never met and I was ghosted on it several times, even after I agreed to push back the date again last summer and we agreed on the event.

I only mention it because it's wrong for a corporation to do a drive like this to give themselves PR and then not live up to the promise they made. Shame on you SSG. I am not upset, but definitely disappointed that someone would use an event like this to make themselves look good and then not honor their commitments.

I'm sure that's more of an oversight than anything else. Easily done when there are so many people donating and it's hard to keep track of everything. I got everything for every year I donated. I'm sure Cordovan would happily sort out any oversights. Either way, incentives or not, Extra Life is a very worthy cause :)

I am interested in potentially making some sort of pledge based on fixes being made to in-game descriptions. Would this be allowed? Is this an okay type of donation to make for this fundraiser? And is there any interest from the developer side?

Something like "I will donate $2 for every in-game description which is fixed to align with the actual implementation, up to *some limit on the total*" (might use different numbers for actual donation, but this shows the main idea).

Note: I'm not asking you to actually change how anything is implemented; I'm just asking for you to update in-game descriptions. Some examples: Multivial seems to be MCL 20 but description says MCL 10. Precision Lenses do not actually apply the manslayer effect. Dirge does not actually scale with caster level. For these examples it would be sufficient to change Multivial to say MCL20, Precision Lenses to remove the text about the manslayer effect, and Dirge to remove the phrase "for every two caster levels". (Of course, if you instead changed the implementation to match the description, I would count that, too!)

If you're interested, I would be happy to compile a list of things whose descriptions I would like to see fixed, and even describe the current implementation so you could update the description accordingly. Let me know!

I have been unavailable in recent days due to real life commitments along with a little thing called Update 47 and the launch of our Feywild prepurchase, but I will be starting to work on this in the coming days.

I just want to make sure to set an expectation that while I will be working to get people their codes as soon as I can, it'll be a while. In the formal announcement I gave myself an "after November 15th" start date on distribution, but if I can get started earlier I will.
