I am curious why Thelanis was honored with TWO long downtimes, especially when the first one went three-plus hours longer than scheduled. These outages, and the (associated) lag, are starting to get old.

@ Citr' - Yeah, often after an update the log-in screen will reset your default server. Easy to miss if you log in via muscle memory. :/

I'm VIP and these extended down times are wasting the money i spend just to play. I use games for pain management so I depend on the distraction that they provide. I wish there was some kind of compensation besides some potion. Thelanis is the server I play on because that's where my friends are. If this keeps up I may take my money elsewhere because I (and everyone else I'm sure) shouldn't have to pay for something I (they) can't use.

Another guildie sent me a tell and that worked and we communicated. I'm trying a full reboot.

Similar thing happened on Ghallanda. Friend's List empty and never came back, party/general/guild chat took a few hours to work for everyone. User channels took almost 2 days to work again. Didn't have any of these issues on Hardcore server.

Great info to hear. We all dropped group and rejoined, and voice was working again. Party/Guild chat still not functioning for all.

Edit: Some members who could not originally hear or chat to us are losing the ability to, so things are not working as normal yet.

Why not just use discord?... No offense to SSG/Turbine but uh the codec for ingame voice was bad back when I first joined and we used Ventrilo instead of it. With everything they've had to fix and still work on... chat is kinda moot except for the rare case of a rando in the party. SSG need a virtual bar to unwind after all this.. I say virtual cause.. Corona :/ ...

Actually I kind of do. Been playing off and on (due to RL circumstances ie. house fire) since 2013. Just recently signed up on forums plus I had lost all my account info in the house fire so therefore I also lost my account seeing that my email got deactivated because it was comprised (hacked) so I can't get a password reset. So don't assume that I just recently joined.
Also I wasn't referring to "everyone" when I mentioned about being a little upset (not po'ed) about the extended down times. I only meant those that felt the same. I'm sure there's, at some point in everyone's lives, that they have felt that way though. Life is too precious to get po'ed about something like that. I've worked with the public for over 20 years so I know how things can be that are out of your hands. I was just speaking in general how it made me feel. Opinions are like buttholes, everyone has them.

Any update? I just tried playing again (noon central) and couldn't use voice chat and couldn't use party chat. Did not check guild chat however.

Just checking, but did you perhaps make your characters on Wayfinder between July 15th and August 6th? If so as I understand it, those characters are gone forever.

Yeah, if you created these characters after July 15, sadly, you lost them. There was a unique problem w/ Wayfinder where it had to be rolled back - 100% of character progress was lost, and that would include creating new characters. :(

Also experiencing Friends list gone, no custom channels, no party chat and being ghosted in Guild chat. It was working yesterday, and pretty sure it was working after the restart this morning. But tonight it's not working even after 'waiting a few minutes' and restarting my computer. Oddly, login is ridiculously fast, which tipped me off something was wrong. Typically I have to wait for guild motd, chat channels and stuff to pop up before I can move my character in game.

This is on Thelanis and I'm pretty bummed because after being gone for 7 years, **** if I remember any of my friends' names anymore.

I am not 100% sure this is related but I am having another issue now. I tried to send an item to another player through the mail system and the item does not leave my inventory. Also as soon as I do this I start getting an error message any time I try to do anything with my inventory "Inventory Busy. You must wait a moment before interacting with your inventory again" if I log out and back in I can use my inventory again until I try to send something again.

As I say I am not 100% sure it is related but since it is another communication method between players I thought I would put it here.

o No Friends list on any of the 4 toons
o Guild chat /tells did not go through (on 2 diff guilds)
o Characters who partied up "failed to join the Chat room", with "Party chat not available".

Something got borked, 100%. :/

Yeah, all of those things have happened to me before (on my new computer I got off of Ebay :( ). It always happens after this little red icon (that appears at the top of my screen) shows up. It says in the chat sever "You've lost connection with the Chat sever" or something similar to that. Then the glitch happens almost instantly afterward (it takes it a minute at best). It can happen any time, but it normally happens when I get on to check the auction house and am not moving around. Whenever I try to move, it glitches, and I'm running in place. In other words, my character is moving like she should but is not going forward (or jumping). The NPCs also move, but I don't think anyone else is (from what I can remember). Then after I start it up again, it has the same problem, only sooner. Once I was playing with someone else (who I didn't know, so he had no idea what was going on), and it had the same glitch problem. I shut it down, maybe restarted my computer a couple times, then finally was able to log in. But, when I tried to contact him, I couldn't find him in my friends list (or anyone for that matter). I tried to let him know what went wrong on the guild chat, but I couldn't post anything. It said something like "Can't connect to chat." Luckily I was able to find him and tell him what happened by running around House Jorasco and then clicking on the tell button in my orb. Note that this was the first of several times it happened that night (and I had to do the same thing to communicate with him).
It seems to work fine with other people, though. I don't remember it messing up for my friend. Do you think it's reacting this way because it's over heating? I sometimes have two accounts up on that computer (but that was not the case with what I just explained about). Plus, I have no other windows open (so I don't think that's causing the problem). Just got the computer a couple months ago, so I'm really sad it's acting like this. If you have any idea what could be the problem, please let me know! Thanks in advance! :)

Oh, and I really hope it's not a user problem. Whenever I try to play on my sister's computer, it does the same glitch and then disconnects from the Internet. I can't turn it back on, either. Then an hour later (and right after I try again), she gets on, is able to turn on the Internet without a problem, and logs in and plays for hours. No joke! I'm being serious, it truly is the weirdest thing!

My 'Friends lists' were initially completely blank when logging onto Thelanis today. However, after several minutes from being logged in they must have populated. It still looks as if people have to use Smoke signals in the LFMs to communicate.

UPDATE: After 40 minutes, the general chat box said it was now picking up the general chat, trade, and advice. So I checked the Friends list, and it was populated. Logged out and back in (although did not close out of program), and list was still there. Not sure what's going on....

Okay. I had to wait over 30 minutes and my friends list, channels and guild chat also came back. Frankly, that's absurd. Better than losing my friends list forever, but...still unacceptable. Nobody wants to wait around twiddling their thumbs for 30+ minutes until they can properly join a party.

This morning while I was playing with one of my friends we had no party chat. Then one of us added a hireling and suddenly party chat started working and continued to do so until we logged off about an hour later.

Later on to do some more investigation regarding the misbehaving 'Friends List' I logged onto Thelanis about an hour ago. The Friends list appeared populated within a minute or two so it was much faster to appear than earlier on...


I've been logged into Thelanis for 15 minutes and Friends list has not repopulated... still blank.

However, I decided to add a name to the Friends List; it said it was successfully added, although guess what actually happened the 'Friends List' just became: blank LOL! Even when swapping to my other Characters those were all "blanked". I have backups so it's not critical, but it does make you wonder why its not pulling the data and displaying - I doubt they want to do another rollback.

Since there has been no mushroom cloud of complaints from any other serverr, and it was only reported in this thread and after Thel got worked on, I see no reason to bother checking the others.

All of the recent issues looks like moving a database from CaSe-InSeNsItiVe to case-sensitive one means the whole DB engine had been upgraded. It's good such thing happen, but it's bad you haven't enough resources to stage it and catch all the bugs before going live.

Indeed... I just saw that when I "search" my shared bank, nothing was coming up. But when I typed "Skill" instead of "skill", my skill tomes showed up. So there certainly is some case-sensitive stuff going on as well.

Chat been down for over a month, and SSG does not seem to see it as a major issue. They dont post anything about trying to fix it, last "official post" here, was 14.august..
My chat works maybe 10%, thats just not good enough...

Without chat, the game looses the fun, and i gotta consider spending my time on something else.

Also was gonna buy more ddo points, but not putting my hard earned money in a game that doesnt priotize fixing such bugs.

This is going on for over a month now.

My friends list is still empty
Chat: when joining groups I occasionally get

(Error): You failed to join the chat room.
and cant see any party chat (sometimes even without that error line)
Searching in my bank isnt working. I can see items but as soon as I type anything in search bar bank is empty.
Mail is broken sometimes (Cant sent mails/my inbox in empty)
If chat is working (rare) others dont see my character name on chat but some twink of mine, that is offline


To me the game isnt fun any more without chat. Now I have to use 3rd party tools just to communicate with group. Lots of... as everyone is using other stuff (Discord, Teamspeak, Skype). And nobody seems to care. Another downtime today and nothing has changed. Not played much lately because this sucks, and again I'm offline for now. May check back after next update... but nothing seems to happen, update after update. Sadly I dont know another game like this, but if anyone can recommend one I'm very open for suggestions. Just want a game that allows lots of character customization, comparable to this one. And has a working chat. And a working bank. And maybe less lag/bugs. Dont get me wrong, I love DDO as much as many here, thats while I'm still around and complaining here, but its in a really bad shape right now. Lots of bad lag, bugs, duping problems (Ottos Boxes) and not even a working chat system. For over one month without a fix in sight. I'm just tired sending tells to everyone in group because party chat is broken. Not to mention raids...

Checked back, still nothing is done nor have I found any updates about it. Friend List still empty+not working, joining party, chat not working. Guild chat not working. This should be nr1 in your todo list, as communication is essential to a MMO.

But it seems you dont care about Thelanis, instead abandoned us? Days are passing, weeks, months... nothing.

BTW: Is Thelanis still the default server for new players? What do you think how long a new player is going to stay when basic stuff like chat isnt working?

Devs???...... Can we get some communication on this issue? I just returned to the game about a month ago and just went vip but this chat issue is really making me rethink that decision. It's almost impossible to pug at the moment without being able to communicate at all. I feel like this should be an absolute top priority to fix. Please at least give us some info on whether or not it's being worked on!

Has anyone been experiencing this chat bug since they brought the chat servers down around the time of Night Revels release? I have not had problems with my chat or friends list not loading since then. Before then, it was every single login, no chat and no friends list. If the issue is indeed fixed then I would like to give the devs a huge thank you, even though the communication has been non existent, I still appreciate the fix!

We did work late last week that has corrected both chat and friends list issues for many of the people who were previously impacted, however it is clear that there are still some players who continue to experience issues. Today in particular we have heard from several players on Ghallanda, and we are continuing to investigate. The work done for Thelanis and Wayfinder was done after checking to make sure the issue that it was correcting was not present on the other game worlds, so it appears that there may be more than one cause to track down. We do appreciate your patience, and recognize we have been asking for it for a while.

Last night guild chat was down on Thelanis. I was going to buy the top tier of the new expansion, but am seriously thinking about not buying anything. No compensation for this is bs. The fact, "people can use discord and already are" is a copout. Not everyone uses it and nobody has time to set it up within group for one quest. Really disappointed DDO, depending how this works out, I may just stay free to pay once my VIP runs out. I've been playing since 2006 and i've never seen such horrible service.
