As annoying as it would be, I'm there with you.
As for DDO's servers, I never understood how it takes an hour (or more) to turn them off and turn them on again XD

Turn your computer completely off then turn it back on, takes a second to a min to boot back up. Now imagine doing that same thing with about 100x-500x more data to load up.

Reminds me of an SPARCStation III that I was the sysadmin for back in college. When it was time to do a basic power cycle so that kernal changes would become active, it would take about 4 hours to complete. Enough time to walk across campus to my car, go to a decent (not fast food) restaurant, order a meal, eat, drive back to campus and then walk back across campus. The system would be JUST restarting the power up portion of the cycle. The folks who used that machine as a server knew not to expect a quick turnaround. Minimal databases, but it had to check EVERY file system before it could shutdown due to the age of some of the drives and the importance of the data. If we had to backup a file system before shutdown or restore one before we could release a file system to the users ... Well, that was usually overtime for me and let me get a lot of studying done while getting paid. Tape backup devices, especially the ones included with the SPARCStation III, were painfully slow. Backup speeds were listed in bits per minute for a reason.
