We have them already. They're just Qstaves that do Piercing damage. And apparently they're 18-20/x2 weapons...

It would make sense to actually have spears as a real weapon type, not just quarterstaff with piercing damage. And also animations for them that actually pierce, not swing...

Since they changed weapon animations recently it shouldn't be hard for them to make.

Agreed but they just haven't done it for some reason.

Also a couple years back when the bug with the Broken Oar occurred for a short time you could hold the Oar in your main hand and off hand. So a quarterstaff could be held one-handed. So a caster quarterstaff and orb combo should have been both possible and just as acceptable as dual-wielding caster scepters. They could have made it an avenue only possible with a particular feat or maybe a particular enhancement such as Dual-shooter makes dual-wielding crossbows possible. They could use such enhancements as Traditionalist Caster in AM or Tiefling for it.

Just look at how many unused weapon types there are in the game and then realize that a spear would easily fall into those groups.

We already have spears, what we need is new animations for piercing weapons in general.
