Just a quick note, all my important toons where already transferred.

After a bit of thought and looking at...basically a few low level alts. , decided to just delete
them and be done with it.

so am free an clear, see you all next HCL

Good for you.

I, on the other hand, have two L20-ish toons with some purchased items. One, I could not transfer to the server I chose. With no word from SSG, this is getting frustrating as the HC closure approaches with no announcement to extend that date. One can easily imagine a left-hand-right-hand situation in which the HC server gets closed because the folks fixing the transfer issue, customer service, and the folks closing the HC server aren't communicating effectively.

SSG: "The HC server is closed and deleted."
Me: "What about my toons that were left on the server?"
SSG: "You should have transferred them. You had well over two weeks."
Me: "I couldn't transfer at least one toon, and then you closed transfers while you looked into the problem."
SSG: "Oh. Really? Let us check... Oh my. It seems you are correct. We see the transfer closure notice now."
Me: "Ok. So I can get my toons with purchases back?"
SSG: "No. Unfortunately 'deleted' in this case means everything was wiped to get ready for the next HCL."

This is a concern. When is the final HC date before they delete all of the HC toons?

Not really sure why they shut down the server at all.
They could just leave it on and when a new season starts - then only newly created toons
are qualified to win prizes.

Ya - a bit more work figuring out what toons are new (so qualified for prizes)
but it would eliminate a ton of **** they are forced to do in the end.

There would be two changes though...if you die, they would need to allow you
to re-spawn outside the dungeon AND that toon can no longer win prizes.
also prize qualified toons would not be allow to group with disqualified toons
to prevent unfair advantages and griefing.

but that is me

Or they could just wipe the server, and not have to worry about coding all those exceptions.

Jerry has confirmed that we'll get a chance to transfer our HC characters before the shut-down/wipe.

Might not be worth waiting for for you, but it's worth it for me. I got lucky and picked up a couple of tomes on dice rolls and they're sitting on the Hardcore server now.

not exactly

he/she said that we would be able to transfer our character before the >>>start of next season<<<
that is much different than saying before the wipe.

That implys a very very quick 'turn around'
or maybe not ....curious

i dont think there is enough devs for this to ever be an issue. just a guess though.

So the patch that was suposed to fix this didn't and still cant transfer my toons out of HC server,m makes me really wanna take part next session, not, so are they actually working on a fix or just saying it in the vain hope we just trust them?

We will make sure people have an opportunity to get their characters transferred off of the Hardcore server prior to wiping the server. If everything goes well we should be able to reopen character transfers in the near future.

I am no expert but somewhere in the back of my mind I am thinking...
there has to be a better way to do this.

Event --- 'migration' --- wipe --- shut down --- reset --- Event

perhaps ...

Event --- Event done --- leave server open. When an event starts, new toons get tagged 'eligible' to compete
when they die, the come back but now not eligible. also Event toons can not group with non-event players.
no server wipe ever.

just a suggestion.

So all the items farmed in the previous seasons are available for trade/auctions?

The economy is never 'reset' and continues trading, effectively rolling over progress each time?

Devs have to code specific tags and adjust grouping mechanics (would an LFM from a 'non-event' player be shown to someone that was eligible etc?)?

Any character TRing from previous season is effectively a new character, would they be eligible for rewards?

These suggestions are all inferior to simply resetting each time - as is their established pattern.

I mean - just look at your explanation for the two sequences and see which one is easier to explain :D

not really an issue as long as special events are still not available...sure
some crafters would have time to advance to make some really cool gear and some toons
will have lots of high end loot to sell.

but it is all relative...and equally fair.
It doesn't really matter if there are 30th lvl swords in AH ... you have to be lvl 30 to use it.
and anyone can level a crafter, not just well funded players

so it would not really be an issue
