Hey folks.
I am a returning player.. I haven't played in close to 8 years, so thus putting in this area, mods feel free to move it.. Returned to the game after a bunch of us at work started playing online games together. Well my group of friends all got horses one night when I wasn't able to play.. guess they farmed feathers. just wondering if its possible to buy a mount in the store or the feathers for it? or do I need to go farm them myself? (yeah they aren't willing to dedicate the time to help me.. some friends) -- advice please?
thank you.

Farming up a mount should take anywhere from 1-3 hours. Take any character that is over level 1 into the Keep on the Borderland wilderness and start killing named rares and opening the chests. There is a pretty good drop rate on feathers and it's level 1 wilderness, so it's not like you'll have trouble killing them.
You can also buy them for points in the Keep on the Borderlands horse vendor as well.

Feathers are transferable? oh didn't know that.

Oh? okay, maybe I'll buy some points...

apparently the keep on the borderlands pack has a mount in it and I have it. didn't realize it, because it never appeared in my account. I'll talk to support.

The Keep on the Borderlands adventure pack costs 995 Points (link (https://ddowiki.com/page/Keep_on_the_Borderlands)). It provides access to the associated wilderness area and quests.
The Keep on the Borderlands Bonus Items costs 2,995 Points (link (https://ddowiki.com/page/Keep_on_the_Borderlands_Bonus_Items)). It includes some cosmetic items, a black steed, and a bag for each character.
If you only purchased the former item you will not have a Steed of the Borderlands (https://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Steed_of_the_Borderlands) on your characters.
In my experience, a full circuit of the Borderlands wilderness rares drops 3 or 4 Feathers, on average.
The Steed of the Borderlands is a +100% speed mount. The horses available for Feathers are +80% speed mounts. The latter can be upgraded to +100 speed with an Enchanted Horseshoe (https://ddowiki.com/page/Item:Enchanted_Horseshoe). Enchanted Horseshoes only drop in epic Borderlands quest end chests.

Ok since we are talking about mounts, quick question. Is there a reason that warforged cannot use a horse? Sorry if this has been answered. Just returning after a long hiatus from the game.

You can put them into the Crafting part of the Shared Bank.

I didn't know they couldn't. My Bladeforged Iconic has no trouble using a horse. What exactly is happening when you try to mount up?

Warforged can indeed use mounts.
Just a guess, but by any chance is your warforged character an artificer? Charging a rune arm causes you to dismount; so if you have rune arm charging turned on then every time you try to get on your horse you will immediately dismount. That would be my best guess as to why someone would think warforged can't use a mount.
I haven't tested how they interact, but having auto-attack turned on might also cause a similar effect; you'd dismount every time you target an enemy.

If you don’t have DDoor, you can run the entire map counter clockwise.

Yup that was it, thank you very much for the help, I usually run with my rune arm charging constantly as he is an Artificer. Thank you.

Okay. I've ran this with my kids... a lot... like to ransack on 8 characters. Some runs are awful, like your 2 rare run. Some are fantastic, my personal best was 11 rares in one run. Sometimes feathers are dropping like a pillow fight with a bad seam, sometimes zero feathers and its just poly-fill random gen junk.
You should be guaranteed one rare (the dretch) per run if you collect the 3 crests each time. Certain rares seem more rare than others to me, I have a difficult time getting the goblin outcast and the harpy to spawn whereas the lizardfolk, crayfish, and raptor are very common for me with everyone else reasonably often.
Take this with a grain of salt but if I seem to be having just awful luck like no named loot, no rares, no filigree or ingredients or whatever in chests that should be dropping them I'll log out take a break and log back in 10 minutes later or so and something changes maybe it doesn't do a 180 and everything is dropping like hotcakes but I usually see an improvement. Maybe its just superstition but it works for me. So like I said, grain of salt.

I’ve had exponentially better luck chasing feathers with a group than I did solo. As a matter of fact, I recommend never farming this solo, as I only landed one feather out of 8 complete solo runs, then joined a group and pulled the other 14 in two runs with them.
I know it can’t be true, but it feels like the devs for some reason have somehow nerfed chests in solo instances.

I have been running this very often as of late and aside from the one rare I was missing each time at the waterfall near the hut, I have had very good luck on these. I tend to get between 4-5 featheras each run, occasional runs I only get two. I have only had one run where I got zero feathers and 1 spawn (guaranteed spawn). I tend to run this alot though.

I clicked on my horse in inventory and the UI said it would be moved to my "stable". My horse icon on the hotbar is now greyed out.
How do I get it back so I can add it to my hotbar again and use it?

In the inventory tab there should be a horseshoe to the right. Click it.

In your inventory on the right side tabs look for a horseshoe. Like where pets are.

A Dwarven war donkey or Worg would be cool mounts...of course they will make the Raptor a mount when Isle of Dread is released being predictable...
Personally they should make combat and spellcasting on mounts possible...that would be exciting
But the mechanics should involve realism. You would need to position the mount to where you could reach with your weapon attacking from the side. Or in the very least missile fire possibly including a new skill for checks made if you are dismounted or not. Maybe a formula that combines concentration and balance.
