Would it be technically feasible to temporarily reduce the max population cap of public areas until you can get a proper fix for overall lag in place?

Sharn public area in particular is really bad for lag right now (at least on G-Land) and has been for months during peak times. It's really frustrating trying to get anywhere due to rubber-banding. Would it help if the max population cap was reduced to force the creation of overflow instances earlier?

creating more instances wont necessarily help with the lag...if anything it might make it worse since the server has to maintain two instances instead of just one. Especially in public areas, where there isnt nearly as many player-to-player interactions for the server to calculate.

Its not actually reducing the server load. There is still the same number of people logged in. The only way to lessen it would be to put a cap on the logins...but I dont think anyone wants to see that.

AFAIK the population cap on public areas is to reduce client load...ie your GPU doesnt have to draw as many other PCs all at once. That's not related to lag, though, unless you have a very potato computer.
